| You know, Mystery Man said the Squaligue may be plural of Squalig, but when asked what the Squalig was, he didn't respond. Perhaps Mystery Man and Spree are in cahoots to confuse us all! I did both Google and Wicki searches for Squaligue, with no results. No Wicki result for Squalig, and Google brought up a forum that mentions Squalig, but as a mispelling of Sqalliq, and it doesn't appear to be a DnD reference, and it's certainly not an item, but rather a fantasy hero. Here's the site: http://forum.bugmansbrewery.com/3-vt8347.html?start=40. Anyway, I've never heard of the Squaligue or the Squalig. Please, Spree or Mystery Man, come back and explain! |

| Do you suppose Spree and Mystery Man are part of a secret organization, perhaps followers of Mask, to breed confusion and dissent within the hallowed halls of Candlekeep so they can plunder our ancient tomes? |

| Well I did find Squalig as a character name in online role play or discusion about RP, just a plural of a charaqcter name makes no sense at all. Also it appeared the character had two different ways of spelling name. |
"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards." "Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding. "After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first." | I found that site, too, Kentinal, and I believe that the spelling was supposed to be Sqalliq, that Squalig was a typo. |

I definitely blame Mask! How could one not? That is why Spree has since disappeared. I think Cyric's followers finally nabbed him!

First of all.
PLEASE forgive me! I have been through some crazy adventures over the past week or two.
*whew* Now that I have apologized.
What is the Squaligue? My DM hasn't told us yet! He is teasing it. Personally, I was more than a bit upset about that. I think he made it up and doesn't have a clue as to what it is. Our game session is tonight so I will attempt to get the answer. Again.
I vow to let this board know! I will not let you down.

Just so you know, I'm betting on you getting your info out of you GM. I've got 25,000gp riding on this... If I don't get my answer, you are going to have to muck stables for a very long time to pay me back. |

Thanks, Spree. We were getting a little worried there. I'll be anxiously awaiting the email from Candlekeep telling me that you've posted again on this topic.

| It has been 35 hours, Spree. Do not let us down. There are a few demons I have subdued, and I'm looking for something to do with them. I think i'll put them down in the dungeon under Candlekeep that you are destined for if you don't get back to us. |

I'm telling you, Spree is participating in Grassroots Marketing for the Squaligue. He's working up our interest so that we may invest in it. I, however, will not be convinced!

Ok, ok, KEJR - I have to admit, I am looking forward to the The Winnegorge of Thr'henna, but have been saving my pennies for the Xukatuk Ramblebamble Draxicus, the foremost tome on learning to play Yatzee and Pinochle against Liches and Rakshasas!

I went ahead and emailed Spree. Again. Here's the email:
quote: Spree, with regards to the Squaligue, you have yet to tell us what it is. A few of us here at Candlekeep are getting impatient. It would not be wise to gain the anger of a hundred tome-wielding scholars. Have you ever been hit over the head with the Lesser Testament of Vraer? I can assure you that it would not be pleasant ...
I did not inform him of the room waiting for him in the dungeon, warlockco, but when he returns, I am positive that he will find out. |

CF, if you had said your proper supplications to the Great Mother and admited that you are nothing but fodder for the deep sea children, then the happy Kuo-toan gift giver might have brought you The Winnegorge of Thr'henna! for the festival of Blignuggrillibruspt Hllogrillpt Blurblishligror, but now all you will get is chum in your stockings!

Most Fearsome, Angered Sages, If I may make a humble suggestion... I say we turn Spree over to the tender mercies of the closest Witch of Rashemen, along with the information that he is a Thayan agent sowing discord among the innocent Sages of Candlekeep... They have ways of making him talk... |

| It is a home game item and/or person. While it would be interesting to know more about it, I do not believe sending emails or threats in Spree's direction will be effective. Now if we could get the DM's email, that would be time to apply preasure. *wink* |

Finally!!!
There was a brutal battle, much bloodshed, and some very inventive spellcasting on my part but we have some information!
The Squaligue is a magical tome created by our DM. It is a minor artifact of a forgotten goddess of Law and Justice in our campaign. The artifact must be carried specifically in the right arm and opened to function.
When it is the following occurs: 1. +3 to Int 2. +3 to Wis 3. All Divination and Evocation spells add 4 to their DC 4. The tome acts as a ring of spell storing for 5th level spells. 5. There is a constant 20 foot aura of truth around the open tome. DC 27 6. The holder of the tome has a 45% chance of summoning 1d3 Hound Archons. 7. The holder of the tome functions under the effects of true sight with 120 foot range. 8. The tome can perform a legend lore once a day. 9. Three unique spells are available from the tome. No details yet. 10. The holder can communicate with any living being with an Int of 3 or higher. There are disadvantages to having the tome. 1. The holder can cast no Necromancy or Illusion spells. 2. The holder receives no benefit to any Necro or Illusion spells. 3. The holder cannot lie or twist the truth. 4. The holder must perform a quest that benefits the goddess.
The DM has hinted that there is more to this artifact and it may even gain more power based on the results of the quest.
Interestingly enough there have been some talks with the church of Tyr who are interested in acquiring the tome... The party has not responded. Also there is the matter of the shadow dragon that got away and the archwizard that commanded it....
Guess that's another story for another day.
Thank you again Candlekeep posters for your help!
