Nice
The Emerald Sceptre is beautiful. The Waterdeep novel is also different to what i'd expected, I guess after seeing the sourcebook on the city due out next year that I expected something similiar. Still very nice though. I wonder if they're resurrecting the Cities Series with this one?
I'm puzzled as to why they have rereleased the Twilight Giants Trilogy. I didn't think it was a particulary big seller but with the release of this one, i'm beginning to wonder if WotC are just rereleasing the complete FR novel line.
I'm intrigued as to what will be included in the Best of the Realms book, i'd take a guess that theyre all Ed's stories from the previous anthologies, rather than Spin a Yarn tales etc.
Out of that last, the only one I won't be getting is The Ogre's Pact. |

Why is it that whenever I click on Farthest Reach it takes me to the Emerald Sceptre? |

"Farthest Reach" is linked to the product code of "The Emerald Scepter". Also note that Thomas M. Reid is wrongly listed as author.
There is a lot of change going on. WotC pulled another Giants novel from the catalog:
Giants among us (Twilight Giants Trilogy, book 2)
Note the new title of that one. ;)
All this info was included in the latest update of Forgotten Realms: The Library. |

The reprinting youre seeing here is whats called mining your backlist in the publishing field. Reprinting older books under their existing contracts, upon which advances have already been paid, is a much cheaper way of getting new books in bookstore shelves (with new covers and sometimes even new titles) than contracting brand-new books, and unless most of the re-releases tank completely, this will help WotCs bottom line (thereby pleasing Hasbro because WotC will meet their numbers, matching or even exceeding their prpfit projections). The one downside for long-term Realms fans is that keeping costs low usually means no editing, not even obvious spelling and grammar fixes. It does NOT mean that we see fewer really new Realms novels because these reprints are taking up slots that new books would fill; in WotCs case, these are always extra slots that wouldnt be there at all, in the Realms line, without the reprints. Remember, a publisher has to purchase both paper and press time from other firms for every title it wants to print, and WotC does have the new Eberron fiction line as well as Mirrorstone and the just-announced new non-game-world-setting-books imprint. Some publishers (not WotC) have cash-flow problems that hamper them in releasing books (if you dont pay your printer, your new product isnt released to you), and publishers who outbid you for press time can delay your books (which happened to many, many titles when the print orders for the last few Harry Potter books were being increased). This means that neither WotC nor most other publishers can blithely change print runs or number of titles released without lead time and much planning. Not unless they want to hurl themselves into disaster. THO

Because it's a WOTC web page. Such errors are standard. Give it a few days and corrections should be made. Until then, think conspiracy thoughts on how the two books could possibly tie in together and that WOTC is just trying to provide a clue to this fact. |

And you know, it's a sad fact that those errors are standard... No other site I visit is that bad with the constant errors. |

Also, it seems like they would have noticed the mistake by now and corrected it. It's already been like this for a few days. |

I know, I know. If something new on their web site actually functions without any errors, I am surprised. But, it is free so....can't complain too much. Although it is surprising for a for profit company of their size to have such constant errors.

You could try finding out if there is still a means to contact them and report the error. I recall, quite some time ago, I did that one time. It didn't seem to help speed the correction up, but perhaps that has changed my encounter. |

The Scions of Arabbar series looks interesting, especially the cover of the third book, but I don't know if it's worth the money. I haven't read any of teh books. Can anyone give their opinion on this? |

The series is great. Do a search for any of the titles utilizing the feature for this forum and you should be able to find a few threads where the series got very positive reviews. |

Yes it's a rerelease and it ties in with the Giantcraft sourcebook from 2e, which dealt with Hartsvale a nation of giants far to the north. The stats for the main characters and thier enemies are in Heroes and Villian's Lorebooks, also 2e. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

I read the first book of that trilogy, and didn't like it. I wish I could tell you what it was about, but quite honestly, I don't recall enough to tell you. I think it may be selective amnesia. |

You can make something out of that cover? All I mostly see are black blurs like that ink-blot test.
Tester: "Tell me what you see Mr. Black." <holds up Waterdeep cover>
SB: "I pray to Eilistraee I'm not seeing the final cover for that novel." |

From following that link, I take it The Farthest Reach will feature a great deal of action in the snow. Look grandma, it's Frosty, no wait, it's a Daemonfey. Run for your life grandma, that reindeer that ran over you will be nothing compared to this. |

Elmonster,I have read The Twilight Giants trilogy, and I liked it.It was a minor trilogy. Not a RSE.It was set in a never explored region of the realms. It's main character was a firbolg.Never done before either. It's pretty much all about giants, whom until this trilogy, and after, haven't gotten much print except for cameo appearances in other trilogies. One of the characters in it has been mentioned as a chosen of a certain god.As always I say read it if you have questions about it. |

As of now: Sure, it does.
May I present: Farthest Reach. Thanks Brad, for finding this link... |
