Just a few days? I've moved four times in my life -- six if you count helping my brother move into his newly wedded wife's appartment about five years ago, and then into their current one a year later.
When you move a whole house, your automatic first priority is to get everything inside, away from rain, birds, and curious kids. Then you realize that you have nowhere to sit, much less walk in a straight line. And after moving boxes to the side, you find things didn't come in in the order you thought they would. And necessities -- plates, cups, silverware, toilet paper -- are all up against the far wall, behind four rows of boxes. Either that, or they were actually in the first box you unpacked, but thought was clothes because someone had put some shirts on the top.
Fortunately, it's hard to misplace the computer, so he'll probably want that connected as soon as possible, simply to get some sanity back in his life. |

That still gives us several weeks before that period. We may be able to get through at least the early portions of Chapter 1.
Let's hear what everyone else has to say.

Lysander (why does that name sound familiar?), you've now been added to the 'lurker' listing. I'll be contacting you with further details about the campaign soon.
Thank you! The email I used to register this isn't my primary email (thought it would be easier to track emails coming from here), and since it usually just has spam on it, I was wondering if I was getting *anything* at all. I've used ezboard (not as Lysander) and that has an internal board-messaging, so I looked here to see if this had one too (apparently not - but I'm not complaining; if it did, that'd be *another* inbox to look at )
I haven't yet read Midsummer's Night - everyone asks if that's how I chose my name, and I probably should sit down and read it. I stumbled on Lysander before I read Jerry Pournelle's "Prince of Mercenaries," and while "Lysander the Ranger" (first of a long line of Honorable Rangers ) was a well-established personality, it "stuck." Moved 4 times? I've finally manage to get my average time at an address UP to one whole year, starting back in '92 - and in there is a sojourn down to Australia for a bit.

I am rather intrigued by all this, so if it is okay, I would like to be a 'lurker' (that means that the e-mails sent out go to me, but I'm not actually a part of the game, right?)

Anytime really works for me, with the caveat that I'll only have once a week access to email from June 12 to Aug 2, as I am away on an archaeology dig.
Then again... I've no idea how frequently we'll be emailing... if once a week is a problem let me know, and well... I'll try to work something out. |

Essentially yes, it does. However my experiences with Ravenloft PbEMs has taught me a thing or two about what 'lurkers' can and can't do, especially when they try to interfere with certain portions of the game...
I'll contact you shortly with further details .

The 1st of June looks to be the probable start date, although I'm still waiting to hear back from those players who do not frequent Candlekeep.

Oh, be sure to let us know about any interesting particulars about this archaeological dig. I have considerable interest in this field, as it was one of my secondary choices for a university course, should I be unsuccessful with my first love, namely programming. I try to keep up on all the latest developments but, other than being at the dig myself, the next best thing is knowing someone who's been at one.

I've haven't decided on the frequency of email distribution yet. I was thinking about once a week, that way it gives everyone else a chance to really delve into the part of the adventure they are involved in.
Perhaps the Bookwyrm could assist me with answering this? What was the frequency of emails in Mumadar's 'Silver Marches' PbEM?

Well, that depends. During combat, due dates for the posts of all parties involved are about a week later, but once all posts are in, that limit is reset -- so if the round is over in less than a week the next round starts anyway.
For everything else, it varies. I remember one time in an inn in Berdusk a while back (though it was three days ago in the game) where things got out of hand and it was hard to keep all the conversations straight. Mumadar actually had to invoke the power of a staff of the irritated moderator.
On the other hand, things are really dragging at the moment. The group is split up, and mine got really quiet; soon afterwards, Artalis' did as well. Part of that is a lack of ideas at the moment (also true on my part, but my character's suffering from severe blood loss, so he's lethargic anyway), but Mumadar's also been a bit late on his own posts. However, his wife just had a baby a few months ago, so as anyone with newborns has known, it's hard to get a lot done. He's probably trying to read her bedtime stories from The Dungeon Master's Guide. |

Hmmm...that's interesting. I'll take it into consideration, but one week still seems to be the best idea.

No, I've received it .
Anyway, you've been added to the "lurker" list (you know, we really do need a better name for that. I don't like the term "lurker", as it reminds me of those denizens from 'Down Below' in Babylon 5).

I fell a bit behind with nearly everything yesterday. If it's any consolation to you, I also forgot to pick up the Lady K. from the hospital...
You'll have it tomorrow for sure, or my name isn't The Sage...well it isn't actually, but you know what I mean...

No, it's not much of a consolation. And I'm sure she didn't like it either.
Now, then, I'll just go back to waiting by my ethereal mailbox, while working on some fencer details that you'll no doubt invalidate. |

Did we change the name, because I thought it was just Master of Defense? Anyway, I've found my notes. There wasn't a problem, I must have just consulted them far more earlier than I previously thought...

Well, it doesn't sound that bad. As I said in the original work-up, my main thinking behind the title was that it was a Renaissance holdover with roots in Middle English, often used to address teachers of fencing and other martial pursuits.
I suppose the 'Attack' aspect could be interpreted as "other martial pursuits".
