No, actually, I'm not. I've only had a passing interest with Eberron, considering the load of FR information I have yet to go through . . . .

A PbEM is a Play by EMail game. Similar to the old play by mail games, but run over the much faster ethereal mail system.

Well met all. Allow me to introduce myself, for I am relatively new to Candlekeep's forums, although I have long used Candlekeep itself and have been something of an irregular poster on the Wizards board for some time.
I was wondering if there was any possibility of you being willing to take on another player? I have been playing playing D&D for seven years now, mostly in the FR and have both player and DM experience. I currently DM a campaign but am missing playing so would love an opportunity to do so.
Not in my favour is the fact I have limited planar knowledge and next to no PS knowledge. I also don't know the full workings of 3.5E, we still play 3E but I should think I could pick it up pretty quickly, I have some idea of the changes made.
The only other thing is I am currently in the middle of my university exams and have another ten days before they finish. If you'd be willing to have me, I won't be able to do anything until then but feel free to start without me, I'm sure we could work something out. I have no character ideas yet but after exams I will have complete freedom and familiarity with the rules ought to let me sort out something pretty quickly.
If you have no room for other players, then I would probably be interested in lurking, you've piqued my curiosity. I look forward to hearing from you Sage (and others).

Life is either daring adventure or nothing.

I too would like to ask whether it is possible for me to join this adventure? It sounds grand indeed . And, if you are The Sage (from another forum) that I think you are, then I know I am in for a wild ride indeed.

Should I email you directly, or this Lady Kazandra instead?

Being a relatively new, can someone email me how to observe the PbEM? I haven't had a chance to read every post in this thread yet (the dreaded "W" word - work - has reared it's head) so if someone can email me a quick "how-to" on the back burner, I'd appreciate it!

Lysander, yield thy crazèd title to my certain right!

::chirp::

. . . Um, that is, I think we're full.

To lurk, you just ask to be added to Sage's list, and he lets you join the email group. I don't know exactly how it will work with him, but if it's like Yahoo!, then you're just sent a carbon of every email sent to the list.

Okay since the Sage presented the first preview, I'll present the second -

A long time ago, long even for the planes, a champion of good and order ascended to a position of the supreme commander of angelic host. He - or a she, but we will assume it was a he - was the most powerful of all angels, a proxy of a power, the most beautiful, the wisest, and most righteous. All respected him, and paid heed to his words. Even deities turned their ears to his advice. And heavens won battle after battle against the hordes of evil. All was good, and all was getting better. We shall call him Mihovil, and his army adored him.

But everything changes, for better or for worse, my child, whether we want it or not. Not even angels are perfect, you know. And time of change came. Balance started to shift, in benefit of good. Several powers of neutrality campaigned across the heavens, seeking that the balance should be restored. In their long political campaign, they managed to persuade the powers of the upper planes to pull back a little in the war, so the balance can be maintained. Who knows what deals were made, what darks were spilled, but they did manage to arrange it.

To both Reefy and Sachiel...

From the Sage -
quote:
I've discussed this at length with the Lady Kazandra and we both feel that the campaign now has enough PCs. However, if you would like, we could include you both as 'lurkers' in the game, and in the likely event that one or two players drop out, you could take their places. If you're willing to do this, then let me know.

The Lady Kazandra will provide you with the appropriate email to contact us.
The emails any of you can use to contact us:

Lysander (why does that name sound familiar?), you've now been added to the 'lurker' listing. I'll be contacting you with further details about the campaign soon.

Lysander is one of the main characters from A Midsummer Night's Dream. He's in love with Hermia, whose father wants her to mary Demetrius. Hermia would prefer Demitrius to leave her alone, or better yet, pay attention to her friend Helena, who's in love with him. Demetrius doesn't want to give Helena the time of day, even after the poor girl betrays her best friend to tell him the two lovers are sneaking out of Athens in an attempt to elope.

If it weren't such a funny play, I'd say this was the first soap opera.

I could tell you the rest, but it seems I'm already engaged to do a different story summery for you.

Yes, that's where it's from. Thank you Bookwyrm . I'll admit that it's been a while since I've read A Midsummer Night's Dream, so I guess that's why I couldn't remember . Besides, it's never been on my list of favored Shakespearean works.... I've always preferrred the immortal Bard's 'histories'.

My reading of that 'different story summary' has dropped of late, but then you probably already know the reason for that. Now I have to spend the next few day playing "catch-up" with everything...

By the way, if you show up again before he does, let the Sage know that Artalis has revamped his character. I claim full responsibility. I talked him into something that supported his character concept better.

Agreed! Much better Bookwyrm. And it only took until 3:30 am. I think I am pretty satisfied now though.

I have a couple of remaining questions though... Who should I direct them to inasmuch as character design is concerned? Lady K is that your department or should I send the questions to everyone?

No, it was my mistake. I'd confused it with other material that I had been reading.

It will probably be best to send them my way. I'm trying not to disturb the Sage since he's got a lot to get through this week, and D-brane has got wedding plans to organise .

Oh and, congratulations on the promotion .

Ah yes... organising a wedding. Painful thing that is. I am happy to say that in my case though, I only have the cake left to worry about, as everything else is ready for the big July day!

But I shouldn't gloat, as my fiancée and I started reserving the various caterers, DJ, reception hall, Church about more than 10 months ago!

I've been in discussion with several players, both through ethereal mail and IM. We've being trying to settle on a viable start date for the campaign, so now I've decided to bring the question to all of you here.

Let's hear some possible start dates for this campaign? That will give everyone involved some idea of when they should have everything finalised and their character sheets in.

I won't settle for a final date until everyone (or the vast majority) agree.

And I don't really have a preference. I suppose the more time I have to work on Jack's intro story the better, but unless you're starting in August I don't think I'm going to catch up. Not unless I were able to sit down and do nothing but write for, um -- I don't know, actually, I've never been uninterrupted long enough to find out an average creative writing speed.

Anyway, all my stuff seems to be finalized. Except, of course, that little problem of the Fencer class?

You want me to just stop waiting for you and try to do the class by myself? I think I might be able to make a rough draft of one in a week, maybe less.

Rondell Rivenstone's Journal, Volume III

29th day of The Claw of Sunsets 1372 DR -- Crossroads...

"Success! I have met a most inspiring consortium of traveling wizard-merchants soon after my arrival in Candlekeep. Most of them humans, of course, but with a few members of the Hin and the Fair Folk too. A young Gold Dwarf also accompanies them.

This group of enlightened and free-spirited practitioners of the Art were most interested to listen to my plea. I told them everything and they have shown a surprising interest in helping my people fix the Winding Water. As soon as their respective errands in Candlekeep are complete, they have promised to go investigate and try to work with my people for the next year at least. Pray the Sly One! this is a most exquisite turn of events!

I have of course written several letters of introduction for them, which they will carry to the proper gnome elders. As for me, I am bound to begin a grand journey to fabled Waterdeep! The wizard-merchants gave me the name of several individuals in Waterdeep, mostly merchants but also wizards that may be interested in working with my people. They also gracefully took the time to write letters of introduction for each of the parties I intend to meet. They are such benevolent souls, all clearly aware that the Bhaal Water purification must occur at all cost, as they are willing to sacrifice their trade exclusivity to bring in more merchants and wizards into the region... therefore giving my people a chance of long-term survival.

I shall not fail my people: I must reach Waterdeep at all cost, and this well before Midsummer (weeks beforehand perhaps...) This is my chance to sell my nation to Waterdeep's merchants, and when the sun rises after Midsummer, on the glorious day of Shieldmeet, I will be in position to forge reliable trade pacts for years to come."

Anytime before the 1st of June will not be good, at least for me. I've only just received a promotion at my work (Head of Special Projects... impressive title eh? ), and I have to have everything in order before the 28th of May as we will be taking on a major contract with the Federal Government. It's also why I've been absent from Candlekeep the last few days .

Plus, I recall Wood Elf taking about moving house a short while ago, and he'll likely be busy for a few days after this move. I'll wait to hear what others think before we decide on anything final.
