Walking with Narad and Raven/A toward the bodies, still keeping an eye on the anti-magic field surrounging Icewolf and Vanima, Fireheart said,

"I don't know, Narad, the forest is still wrong...the birds haven't returned to singing...it's almost as if we're being watched..."

She turned and knelt down in front of the boy.

"Fostum, you said, child...this is the name of the mage...have you seen him? We want to make sure he doesn't ever take another child's mother. Can you describe him to us? "

OOC: Sorry about my not being active for a bit, I was finishing up a Beta I was involved in.
------------------------------------------------------------

Icewolf notices the same mark on the mage. Vanima holds him down as Icewolf steps out of the field. He closes his eyes and begins to concentrate.

His Eyes snap open, "Everyone, DOWN!!!" He sends out a magical shockwave that knocks everyone away, out of range of the ball of fire that erupts over him. As the smoke clears, Icewolf is seen weakly leaning against a scorched tree. His clothes are charred and smoking, and his hair is burnt away from his head. "That hurt a lit--" He fell to his knees and slumped over. Vanima was over to him almost before he finished falling.

She turned him onto his back, and checked for signs of life. "He's alive, but just barely. She turns to Alastor, and begins to ask for the potion, but then realizes that it won't heal damage caused by fire. She opens her husband's pack, which had been warded against flames, and pulls some thing out of it. She begins a ritual that involves transferring some of her life force to her beloved.

A spark passes between them, and Icewolf suddenly gasps and bolts upright. His eyes glow a bright blue for just an instant, and he looks around. Vanima looks weak, and as her husband notices this, he looks at the materials she had used. "You didn't, did you?" She nodded weakly, and began to pass out. He caught her and stood up. He held her in his arms, and disappeared.

He reappeared minutes later, without Vanima, holding a belt with a dozen vials looped into it. He pulled one out, and drank it down. The effects were immediate, as his clothes stopped smoking, and seemed to repair themselves, and all the signs of his burns faded away. He tries to smile, "You thought the regular stuff tastes bad, try the aquatic varity. Well, good news: I think I know where he is." He frowns, "The bad news is: He knows I know where he is."

OOC: Glad to have you back, Icewolf...

Okay, Fireheart said, You know where he is, and he knows it...we need to move quickly to avoid him setting too many traps. At this she moves to the horses and gathering their reins brings them to the party.

Before handing them over...she looks at the group..."One more thing, she says smiling, and I'm sorry for not mentioning this to you all earlier...perhaps until we reach the mage, if we should find battle and find ourselves in need of healing, you could let me do it? I am wondering if you should save those potions in case we need them after dealing with mage...I worry that I may not have enough healing to go around afterwards."

Worry not about the potions Fireheart I keep the ingredients for my regeneration potion hand always and it can be modified to heal any type of wound. Pulls out a book entitled 101 uses for troll blood. For fire and acid all it needs is a special root that I have and elf blood. Looks over at Narad with a grin. And I dont think we will run out of elf blood anytime soon. Now Icewolf where is this mage?

Icewolf nods, and pulls out a map, and marks an X on the map, "He's here. I need to rest and restore my magic." He reaches inside of his robes, and pulls out another Mount scroll, and uses it.

He hops on, and orders the invisible mount to follow the others. "I will be aware enough to help if I'm needed, but please try not to disturb me. I will need my renewed energies, if I am to be at all useful." Then he starts meditating, and its apparent that he is only slightly less than fully aware.

>Narad gets his horse and then turns to the boy.>Will you come with us? If you do, I'd like to know your name.
>For a moment the boy thinks his options, but then nods "My name is Ern">
Okay, Ern, hop on, you can travel with me.
>They ride through the land, but their goal is far away. Ern, on Narad's horse, seems happy. When Narad asks about it Ern answers:
"The mage and his allyes are taken care of">

What do you mean?
>"My father leads our army to fight Fostum">
Does your father have an army?
>"Yes! They have been raising a force from these farmlands and now they have easily over hundred men." Narad turns to the others>
Did you hear that?

An army of farmers. Could be useful. But if we really want to do this right a say we go for a two pronged attack. Spliting the force and attacking from two sides, if our advisary is fortified any position. Looks down at his side and all that remains of the wound is a small little scar. Perfect. Ern how well are these farmers armed. If we send a untrained ill equiped army of farmers against trained orcish bezerkers, foot soldiers and mages it will be a massacre.

>Ern looks confused for a while, apparently the possibility of losing hasn't crossed his mind. "Some have swords and few have leather armors, but most have only tools from their farms". Ern obviously doesn't realize what his father's force is up against.>
And a massacre it will be. Ern, when does your father attack?
>"They sent me and other children away and few days.." Ern counts with his fingers for a while "Tomorrow" he declares after a while.>
Where is your father now?
>Narad shows Ern a map. "There" Ern points to a place, not far from the 'X' Icewolf had marked>

Then what are we waiting for lets move out. Quicky leaps into the air streching his wings. Idling in the air RaVeN/A calls down to them. From the sky I can make better time. Hurry I think I can see the campfires of an encampment at the base of a mountain about three miles away. Perhaps the mages have taken hold in the mountain?

Perhaps they have. But we have to be careful, we might mind more than mere mages up there. The orc shaman had this on him.

Cherrn pulls out the amulet and passes it on to Narad. The amulet resembles a flame with eyes burning above a dragon's claw

Cult of the Dragon elf.

Cherrn grins

Interesting eh ?

As he flys RaVeN sends a telepath burst to everyone. Dragon eh? Well when we kill the beast I call dibs on some of the scales. Quite RaVeN. But really if its a dragon then it should have a good size horde or weapons and maybe some armor. Sounds like a good day of burning and looting.

Seeing the symbol on the amulet, Fireheart says "Not just a dragon, more likely an undead one. Great...undead things. Undead is not beautiful. 'Ware though, last I heard even an undead dragon's breath weapon worked...perhaps we should spread out a bit."
At that she rides a little to the right and back of Narad, hopefully, placing the party more out of a line of dragon's breath.

Hmph, haven't seen any dragons around here and the Cult's enemies are close...
>Ern sitting behind Narad asks:"What is Cult of the Dragon?">
I'll explain it to you later. Either they have a large force with them or here is something worth the risk.

We need a plan. As powerful as our group is, I don't think we can take out everything they have. I suggest that we first get Ern's father and his troops safe and then see what we can do to the Cult.

Icewolf's eyes open, "Damn it all! I hate dragons, and these undead abominations are worse."

He looks back to find Yar, "You go hide. A dragon's breath would be the end of even you."

As Yar leaves, he turns to Narad, "I feel uneasy about pulling the farmers into this. If this is the Cult of Dragon, then a fully trained army would have problems with this. I fear we may have to find another way."

I was thinking about pulling the farmers out of this. They are marching to their doom from my point of view.
>Turns to Raven/A>
I think you should stay down as we get closer. The element of suprise is our best weapon. For if we don't get there soon, those farmers won't survive more than a couple moments.

Now, how are we gonna get them out of there? Fireheart, we'll be needing your healing spells soon. Have you rested enough?

He begins to plumit to the ground and lands fifty feet on the ground ahead of them with a painfull sounding thud. Bounces a few inches and lays motionless. A telepathic burst screams into everyones heads. GET OVER HERE AND ADMINISTER ONE OF THE TROLL POTIONS IN THE GREEN VIAL.

Seeing Raven/A fall, Fireheart quickly rode over to him. Jumping off her horse, she quickly casts small healing spell on Raven/A. Now that he was conscious but still weak, Fireheart reached into his pouch and handed him one of the green potions so he could finish healing.

Looking up at Narad, who approached, she said. "Yes, I am plenty rested and since I have not needed to cast yet, (nods to IceWolf) still have plenty of spells."

Hope that's okay...I think I've figured out that the telepath is the sword? and Raven/A is the one writing in bold. So figured since it was telepath talking, Raven/A was unconscious.

Close Fireheart but the real RaVeN's soul is inside the sword and can send telepathic bursts from the sword. The soul of the sword can posses and warp the body of the weilder. So really RaVeN/A is the soul of the sword inside RaVeN's warped body. Sorta like a soul transplant. Hope it helps.

Takes the potion and quickly drinks it. By some unseen force RaVeN/A's limp body raised up and then suddenly cunvulsed with great force. Before it falls to the ground limp again. But no sooner had he hit the ground than RaVeN/A opened his eyes and climbed to his feet. Im glad I had one of those reviving potions. That potion doesnt really heal you. It kills you and revives you with full health and no fatuige. But I think I'll leave both feet on the ground Narad but dont worry the encampment is just through those trees. Points to the north end of the clearing as three outlines begin to take shape comming out of the woods where he points.

Looking ahead the group sees a black bald man with heavily sculpted features in a black outfit that looks like exquisite studded leather with a purple black cloak wrapped around him sitting on a branch high up in the air reloading 1 of the 2 hand-crossbows he is dualwielding. "Stupid pigeon." The man mumbles as he finishes reloading his crossbow in his right hand. He quickly surveys the area and then fixes his gaze on Fireheart and lets loose both bolts from the twin-crossbows aiming at Fireheart. Not seeing if he has hit or not he spins around, revealing a falcion strapped to his back, jumps to another branch, then to the ground behind a tree. Cherrn jumps from his horse and motions it off to the side. Move you stupid creature, you are no good to me with holes in you! The black man jumps out from behind the tree aiming the crossbows at Cherrn at slightly different angles, he lets loose again with the sounds of 2 clicks being heard. The bolts streak towards Cherrn, but seeing as how he's ready for it, his silk forms a tiny shield in front of Cherrn thinking to deflect both bolts, the first bolt is succesfully deflected, but the other aimed at a slightly different angle pierces Cherrn's defence. Cherrn barely manages to dodge the shot as it tears nothing but clothes a few inches to the left of his left knee. Cherrn falls to one knee with a loud gasp. Whim of the Maid! This man is good! The man disappears behind a tree again. Cherrn takes cover behind a tree as well and peers around at each side. Cherrn notices 2 other figures moving out wide to flank the group.

We are being flanked! Get that kid to safety! They might take to killing him just for fun!

I know I would.

Cherrn barely manages to get his head in behind a tree before another crossbow bolt passes straight in front of his face hitting the tree right next to him. Cherrn looks to the heavens and whispers:

Whim of the maid... Whim of the maid...

Looks at the 3 men with a peircing glare. Scaning them from head to foot looking for the emblem of the dragon, not stangley no mark could be found. RaVeN sends a telepath burst. They may be the farmers we have been looking for. They do not bear the emblem of the dragon and they are probably edgey from constant raiding. Maybe we should try to talk first and save some time.

Cherrn shouts to Raven/A:

The one with the twin crossbows is definately from the cult! His purple cloak reveals it! And he's far to skilled for a farmer as well!

Cherrn runs between the trees towards Raven/A dodging and deflecting 2 bolts as he closes the gap.

And by the Caliph get out of my head! You might bring us some unwanted attention from Beshaba!

Cherrn sends out the silk behind Raven/A's head and deflects another bolt.

You and Fireheart get behind a tree, get out of this clearing!

Cherrn turns toward the black man with the twin crossbows, watching him as he reloads both crossbows with amazing speed. He shoots again but misses as Cherrn barely manages to throw himself to the ground. Cherrn rolls around on his back and looks up, then sends his silk out towards a branch. The silk wraps itself neatly around a branch and then pulls Cherrn up with amazing ease and speed. Cherrn crouches low and scans the area trying to find the man with the crossbows. Hmmmmm where is he...? 2 faint clicks are heard in the distant and Cherrn instantly jumps from one branch to another watching 2 bolts hit the spot where he crouched. Now I got you fool! Cherrn jumps from one branch unto another, then another, then jumps down and rolls with and gets up in a run. The man with the crossbows is straight ahead. He shoots again, Cherrn easily deflects both shots with his silk. The man quickly reloads and shoots again. Cherrn reflects one bolt but the other strikes his thigh passing right through it. Cherrn roars in pain and falls to both knees. The faint sound of 2 crossbows being reloaded can be heard. The man slowly walks towards Cherrn, stopping right in front of him. He grins:

"Don't mess with the cult, if you do you might face one as good as me."

Cherrn looks up and finds a crossbow pointing straight 2 feet from his face. Cherrn grits his teeth.

Then he will end up dead as well.

The mans grin vanishes from his face. He frowns, then gasps in pain as the silk wraps itself around his neck. With a mental command Cherrn throws the man up against a tree 40 feet away keeping the hold on his neck with the silk. The man drops his crossbows and wraps his hands around the silk trying to remove it, sadly with no luck. Beshaba smiles upon you today! The temperature suddenly drops as a wave of ice following the silk shoots towards the black man freezing everything within 5 feet of the silk. Right before the ice wave hits him he suddenly vanishes. Cherrn opens his mouth in amazement.

Curse my luck! Curse my luck!

Cherrn extends his hand as he retracts the silk. The silk delivers something in his hand. An pendant of the Cult of the Dragon.

Raaaarrrgh!!

Cherrn throws the amulet to the ground and surveys the area.

I wonder how the elf is doing?

Cherrn takes a step towars Narad, then falls to the ground clutching his leg.

Whim of the Maid!

Hearing Cherrn's shout, Fireheart turned toward him just in time to avoid the crossbow bolts whizzing past her ear.

She drew her sword and moved toward the bowman. As she did, two of the men approached Narad who began to dance and she could see Cherrn's silk entangle the bowman. She started to turn to help Narad but, just as the ice traveling up Cherrn's silk would have hit him, the bowman vanished and Cherrn's silk fell to the ground. Seeing Cherrn stumble with a crossbow bolt in his leg and trusting the Raven/A or Icewolf would go to Narad's aid, she ran toward Cherrn.

Kneeling down,"I'm not sure I don't trust the bowman to be back and you won't be any help if you can't walk. Here." she said, "hold still. I'm going to have to remove the crossbow bolts before I can heal you."

Fireheart took a deep breath and, as Cherrn gritted his teeth, with a sudden push, she sent the crossbow bolt through the other side of his leg. Then with a quickly murmered prayer to Sune, she placed her hand over the wound. Within seconds, the wound had healed as if it had never been.

There,
she said, that should do it. Giving Cherrn a hand up, Fireheart noticed that Narad seemed to be overwelmed by the two fighters. With a smile and a nod toward the bladesinger, Fireheart said "Shall we?" as she turned to run toward Narad.

By the Caliph! You got skill m'lady! And a rather gentle touch too...

Cherrn grins begins his run towards Narad. As he runs he extends his arms towards Narad. 2 lines of silk shoots out towards Narad. Cherrn shouts:
