Here's a fast note to remind all Eberron fans that the previously mentioned chat with Eberron's designers is tonight. MIRC does allow logging so anyone who attends can make a log to possibly send to any Eberron fans at Candlekeep who won't be able to attend. |

I was near my computer at the time of the chat so I signed on and started logging the chat. I did not participate as I had to get busy working on something else. But, I kept an eye on the channel when I could. I got bounced off at one point, so I didn't get about 10/15 mintues of the chat. But, the rest is logged and it lasted about 1 hour and 45 minutes.
If anyone wishes the log sent simply let me know either here or via email.

I'll take a copy, if you don't mind. You've still got my email, right?
Short review of Queen With Burning Eyes: It's horrible. I greatly enjoyed James Wyatt's work on CoSQ, but this is simply formulaic-something generic seemingly shoehorned into Eberron. Paizo didn't even seem to believe the adventure was worth a cartographer, as the map is composed of pictures of miniatures tiles. It's obvious that the adventure is also meant to cover the time between the Forgotten Forge and Shadows of the Last War. In short, the adventure seems to be leaning too much on crutches(overuse of miniatures information being one) to be original or interesting. It does yield two nice sections, though-a full page portrait of Demise, the elven necromancer of the Emerald Claw,(reprinted as the cover)(Which, interestingly, counters what we have been told of her appearance so far) and a city stat block(one of those writeups, I'm sure you know what I mean) on Sharn(for example, telling us who the mayor is for the first time.) Practical Magic(the FR adventure), however, is quite well-done, and a likely must-pick-up for most scribes here. |

My thought on the "Queen with burning eyes" was, it was designed for 6 1st level charicters, and brought them to a possible 3rd level.
With one adventure rising the PCs 2 levels, how long can it sustain the low- mid level gameing it was designed for? |

There is some discussion of this adventure within the chat, I believe at the end. Some person was asking for advice on how to punch up the adventure as he/she thought it was a simplistic dungeon crawl, or something to that effect.
I'm glad you enjoyed James Wyat's work on CotSQ. However, I felt quite the opposite. The way I heard the person in the chat describe this Eberron adventure is exactly how I felt towards CotSQ.
I'll be curious to read the adventure myself and see what I think. FRP Games apparently can't fill my order so I'm going to have to brave the B&N in the mall (Eilistraee have mercy on my soul) and see if I can find it and the Dragon magazine I want there. |

Thanks for the review, Arivia. I'd be shifting between a 'yes' and 'no' on my decision to purchase this adventure. But, so far, from every review I've read about it, both here at Candlekeep and on the WotC Eberron boards, none of them paint this adventure in a pleasant light.
I think I'll be looking ahead to Whisper of the Vampire's Blade which is said to include details about the Blood Queen.

Just wondered if anyone had seen this? Its a map of Khorvaire, built from scrtch and containing much more information that the official map by WotC. Any excellent piece of work (I love maps anyway, any maps ).
Now, lets rope the guy in to do us a map of Faerun |

I've been meaning to provide a link to Johnny O'Neal's site for a while now (since January), but I keep forgetting...
Interested Eberron fans should give his site the once over. There's plenty of detail for the setting, as well as a link to the "unofficial" Korranberg Chronicle project.

I doubt whether my word has that much power to it, Lord Rad . When the designer asked whether he should next try his hand at a map of Ansalon, I (along with hundreds of other people), voted YES!

Well met
Be hereby forewarned that I will be shelving this scroll to the archives soon.
::waits for the mixed groans and cheers to die down::
Worry ye not, O' fans of Eberron.....for I will be telling thee of a portal, a portal where ye may speak of...not only Eberron, but of Krynn, the Domain of Dread, Oerth...and many other places.
Of course, remember fair old Candlekeep when thee ventures forth.... |

Well met, Sage.
Somehow, I knew thee would be hot on the response To answer your question... I will be announcing such within the next tenday.
However, unfortunately, this new location will not be compatible with Candlekeep. Therefore, you must create a new member account in order to participate. It has merely been created to allow discussion of more generic D&D and other campaign worlds (current and previous). There WILL be an area for the Forgotten Realms, however, it will not contain extensive categories such as we have here in Candlekeep and is more a location for visitors who do not visit Candlekeep or wish to discuss the Realms in such depth.

Exciting news indeed... Thank you Alaundo, for the details .
I have another question however... Will this new realm have the same moderators as here at Candlekeep?

I will be making an appearance as a moderator. We will likely be recruiting other moderators (by invitation only) at a later date.
On this note, recruitment of moderators herein at Candlekeep will also be taking place very shortly. |

Okay, so to keep this scroll (slightly) related to it's current topic...
Will this new portal have separate sections for each campaign setting (styled like that at WotC) like Eberron, or will it be just one mass jumble, like the roiling chaos at the heart of Limbo?

::chuckle:: There will be a general D&D section split into various categories to discuss the core rules etc. Each active campaign setting (FR, DL, EB, RL) will have a section, within which will be three sections to discuss general gaming, products and novels. Other campaign settings such as Planescape, Al-Qadim, Dark Sun etc. will have a single section within an "other worlds" category.
To summarize, there will be six main sections: D&D, Forgotten Realms, Eberron, Ravenloft, Dragonlance, Other Worlds. |

Actually Bookwyrm, you raise an interesting point. I've also been thinking about whether I'll continue using 'The Sage' username once I've made the journey through the portal.
Perhaps I should have something different. 'The Sage' is, afterall, a Realms character.

Well, while this scroll is still open, we might as well continue to provide news through it. To that, the new Dragonshards column has been released, dealing with travel in Eberron. |

I doubt this very much, Master Alaundo.
Although I am sure many of the scribes here posses a yearning to partake of a little adventuring outside Candlekeep once in a while(myself included), I have no doubt that they will, in time, return here, to share some of their newly aquired knowledge. |

Oh, no-you have no clue how long we've been asking for this.
I'll still stay around, but I think certain areas(especially the PS one) will burn up quite quickly... |
