Good news is that they're all huge fans of your works now. Everyone here is awaiting Godborn with breath held.
How many books are planned for Egil and Nix? (please let it be a saga)
-Ben

That's awesome. Tell them all I said hello.

Egil and Nix is a series. The next novel, A DISCOURSE IN STEEL, will release in July 2013.

THE HAMMER AND THE BLADE releases in the U.S. on Tuesday. To give folks a flavor for the novel, Angry Robot Books has made the first 50 pages available online.

You can read them at the link below. As it's the opening 50 pages, there are no spoilers.

Just pre-ordered the UK version (a little late I know).

Sir Markham pointed out, drinking another brandy. "A chap who can point at you and say 'die' has the distinct advantage".

Just read the first 50 pages from the link on your site. Awesome stuff, Paul... awesome. I'll be sticking Egil and Nix right up there with Erevis and Drasek as some of my favorite characters from Sci Fi Literature.
Can't wait 'til Tuesday to pick up my very own copy!

Muahahahahaaaa! It has been teleported from the hidden vaults of the Amazon dungeons onto my magical Kindle scrying device! I shall study it with pleasure!

My pre-order is due for delivery on the 4th of July. Amazon.co.uk does know we're not American right? Been a long 7 months that's all I can say. If Egil and Nix were in a daytime soap opera would they be The Bald and the Big Mouthed?

Glenfiddich and Monte Cristo's all round, huzzah!!

I'm surprised your getting the book from amazon.co.uk so late. I'm supposed to get it on the same day and I'm in Portugal.

Paul, what can I say? This was a weekend with little sleep. Awesome book! I can only recommend it to everyone, best read since Erevis Cale!

I just finished the book too and I enjoyed it. I specially liked the humor between Egil and Nix.

I'll be awaiting the next book.

I'm only about a third of the way through, but so far this. And the pacing of the story feels pretty much perfect.

And use of the word bunghole is win.

Thanks, all. Delighted that you're enjoying. I had a blast writing it. If, after reading, you had the time and inclination to throw a short review up on Amazon and/or BN, I'd be sincerely grateful.

Enjoyed the book immensely Paul. The pair of Egil and Nix were well rounded and complete characters, revealing little titbits of their past, made them all the more intriguing. Firm friends and a pair of serious hard cases, ready for anything. My only complaint is I have to wait a year for the next book!

A rousing tale of classic Swords/Hammers and Sorcery. Can't wait for the next book.

Paul,
Great job once again! I absolutely LOVED it!
On a rather interesting note, I was in some of the large bookstores around Austin and the book was sold out in 5/6 of the stores that I went in. And that last store had only 1 copy left with a large vacant area surrounding it.
I hope this series continues for a long, long time!

For those with an interest, I want to note that I've signed with Angry Robot to do a third Egil and Nix novel. The press release is here: http://angryrobotbooks.com/2012/10/paul-s-kemp-signs-up-for-third-instalment-of-the-tales-of-egil-and-nix/

The first story of Egil and Nix, THE HAMMER AND THE BLADE, is available now. The second, A DISCOURSE IN STEEL, will be available in June 2013. The third, tentatively titled, A CONVERSATION IN BLOOD, will follow in 2014.

I'm more than a little pleased by this. Meanwhile, THE GODBORN is rocking along, too. So much fun to be revisiting with the Tanthuls, Riven, Mags, et al. Good stuff all the way around. :-)

That's some great news. I wish Godborn and A Conversation in Blood would come sooner though. :(
