I'm not sure that she's the goddess to pray to, when you want delivery of a physical item.

Hm. That's supposed to be a joke. Or sarcasm. I've lost hope in seeing that book long ago. I refuse to believe until I actually see the physical item. Hoping breeds disappointment.

I hope Godborn is going along nicely.

I'm anticipating A discourse in Steel, but I'd rather not read the snippet or it'll make the waiting even more hard to endure.

Na, no snippets for me this time! I will buy the novel anyway the very same day it is ready for download!

That's great news, Paul! Do you know if an unabridged audiobook is also being released?

What format will the book be released in? The Hammer and the Blade was Paperback, but amazon.co.uk lists A Discourse in Steel as a Mass Market Paperback.

Tanthalas,

I'm honestly not sure of the format in the UK. I presume it will be both paperback and mass market, but don't know for sure.

Well, the format was changed to Paperback. I'm happy with this, call me shallow but I like books in the same series to have the same size so they look better on my shelf. >_>

Yayyy! No more Nickleback earworms for me!!!

Thanks for the very reasonable and objective 10 reasons list Paul!
Please can you use little kitties next time instead of puppies? I don't want to disappoint those little kitties by not buying your book. Hey wait! Not necessary anymore, you already got me with the Nickleback exorcism!

It sucks that the book gets released a bit later in Europe. :(

Aw man! First they postpone the book from end of May to end of June, and now they move it to July....

If you mean the Amazon Kindle version, I think that's just a glitch in Amazon's system. As far as I know (and as far as my publisher knows), it'll hit Kindles on June 25th.

Hi Paul, I got an email from amazon as I pre-ordered for Kindle, saying that the launch has been delayed again for beginning of July (see below). At least it will be only one week extra wait, unless they postpone again...
Can't wait to start reading!

"Hello from Amazon.com,

We're writing because an unexpected delay has occurred in delivering the Kindle version of the book listed below:

A Discourse in Steel: A Tale of Egil and Nix

Link to the Kindle Title: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00AD2OYTI

The old delivery date was: 6/25/2013.

The new delivery date is: 7/2/2013.

We'll keep your pre-order open on your account and deliver the title to your Kindle as soon as the publisher releases the digital version."

There was, alas, a snafu on the distributor side with the Kindle version of DISCOURSE. Angry Robot is providing an interim solution for those affected:

My apologies as well.

Glad I pre-ordered an actual book, then. It showed up a little soggy as my mailman neglected to shut my mailbox, and it's been wicked rainy here recently. But it's dry now, and the plan is to sit outside the station in my ambulance all night and read it.

Indeed I did enjoy. I've definitely read fantasy novels of equal length where far less happens. Egil and Nix get a lot done in 350 pages, story-wise, and it's never at the expense of painting the setting (in other words, the pace was perfect and felt like I had a solid picture of the world). Same with the hammer & the blade, the ending was great.
