Great cover!!!
In any case it is probably good to not be a cleric of the momentary god if that implies that you have to fight with two hammers like those on the cover! Poor Egil... |

Awesome Paul! Best excerpt so far, great dialogue! Can't wait for this to be released.

New monthly excerpt from THE HAMMER AND THE BLADE is up. Link is here: http://paulskemp.com/blog/fifth-excerpt-from-the-hammer-and-the-blade/
I also wanted to add that Ed Greenwood and Elaine Cunningham were both kind enough to read the novel and provide a cover blurb. I want to share those with you, if you'll indulge me.
From Ed: This rollicking tale hooked me from the get-go. Told with zest and humor, this is everything that is good and golden about classic old-school fantasy yarns. It joins my precious bedside shelf of favorite re-reads, ‘comfort food’ books I turn to again and again. Egil and Nix might not be the safest guys to go adventuring with, but they’re sure good company. I’ll be waiting for a sequel. Impatiently.”
From ec: Most heroes work up to killing demons. Egil and Nix start there and pick up the pace. There’s enough page-turning mayhem here to sate the most avid sword & sorcery fans, but the heart and strength of this story is a friendship that goes deep and rings true. |

Paul, those excerpts are just fantastic! Really, I almost feel I start getting more eager for the Hammer and Blade release than for Godborn, and that really means something, considering my fanatism for Cale & co! |

I wanted to mention two things in connection with THE HAMMER AND THE BLADE.
First, it's reviewed glowingly by a longtime fan of my Realms writing. This pleases me enormously, as was hoping that fans of my Cale stories would dig the stories of Egil and Nix, too. Since some of you are also fans of my Cale books, I thought you might appreciate the views of a fellow traveler.
Link to the review is here: http://stefansbookshelf.com/2012/04/19/the-hammer-and-the-blade-by-paul-s-kemp/
Second, I'm giving away a free digital copy of my short story collection, Ephemera, to any and all who pre-order THE HAMMER AND THE BLADE (both as an incentive and a thank you). Details here: http://paulskemp.com/blog/pre-order-the-hammer-and-the-blade-and-get/ |

Thanks, Paul. Will it be released internationally at the same date, or month, at least? Or are we here at the other side of the globe going to wait longer? |

Pre-ordered, and trying to ignore the excerpts cos it never goes well when I read excerpts, just annoys me I dont have the whole book yet, and I suddenly start dragging through whatever I'm currently reading... |

I used to feel that way. But now, it annoys me more if I do not see some excerpts or sample chapters. [People change, indeed.] |

If you'll indulge me, here's a round-up of the many positive pre-release reviews for THE HAMMER AND THE BLADE. Only a month away now.
Neither the post nor the reviews (should you click through) contain any spoilers for the novel. I hope you'll have a read.

Just pre-ordered the Kindle version!
So Paul, how many books have been pre-ordered so far? Do they update you on the numbers? |

sc,
I don't know. That info isn't available to me. I very much appreciate those who preorder, though. So thank you.

Hi Paul, Just read through the two Erevis trilogies for the 3rd time. I keep on revisiting them every 6 months or so as I'm plowing through some of the older Realms novels. I really dig your style and character building. I can't wait for The Hammer and the Blade!! Keep up the great work. I also can't wait for your next Realms contribution to hit. - Ben (huge fan) |

Much obliged, Ben. I'm looking forward to my next Realms release, too. :-)

I still remember your play by play of the Star Wars movies... You had me ROLLING (I still use the Sam Jackson reference at the end of any star wars quote). I ended up showing the script to a bunch of my fellow Engineers at the Semi Conductor Fab that I work at and you made the week of a couple dozen stressed out people. Good news is that they're all huge fans of your works now. Everyone here is awaiting Godborn with breath held. How many books are planned for Egil and Nix? (please let it be a saga) -Ben |
