I was looking over the listings on Amazon and I noticed that some of the novel listings now run up through at least September (Erik's new book Shadowbane). There are a few books that now have cover art that I did not notice the last time I looked through the advanced listings (Bury Elminster Deep, Sword of the Gods). There is another Dark Sun book listed and it's the first I have heard of it. The release date for the Neverwinter Campaign Setting is listed as Aug 16. Hopefully that's not all old news that I missed somehow and since this primarily deals with novels I assumed the novel section was the best place to put this.
I also noticed this novel that I had not heard anything about. I do not believe it will be a FR novel (no mention of FR) but at least 2 of the authors (Lisa Smedman, Mark Sehestedt) have done FR novels and the title doesn't seem to outright preclude FR stories.

I don't expect they have all the books they plan to list up on Amazon. Keep watching, because you never know when more surprises will show up.

Thanks for the head's up Erik. To be sure I am understanding you correctly, are you saying to keep watching Amazon (because they list things pretty far in advance) or are you saying to watch the Wizards site because they will have better product descriptions?
Also, if you can answer, I know your name wasn't listed as one of the author's of the mystery product I linked to but do you have any insight as to what it is? I am assuming it is a book of short stories (similar to the "Realms of..." books) due to the length and multiple authors. I only ask because you seem to be fairly "in the loop" and always willing to share info with us when you can. Edit: Fixed a spelling error. I keep spelling Erik's name with a "c" apparently. |

I have no idea Wooly. I just cut and pasted the titles for the sake of clarity. I think it's possible at this point that the title could be wrong or merely a placeholder of sorts. Although, it wouldn't be the first book I have seen to use a similar title format: Star Wars Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine |

Both, really. I've found that Amazon usually gets them up faster, but the WotC product pages are usually more accurate/descriptive. More than once, Amazon has posted up rough draft product art (I think you can still find some draft Depths of Madness cover art out there somewhere.)

I'd love to say but sorry, I've no idea. I just saw it and thought it looked neat.
Neverwinter Wood seems to be the sequel to Gauntlgrym.
And as for Unbroken Chain: Darker Road, three cheers for Jaleigh, huh? Just cranking those novels out!

Q, as they say, FT. The description and the cover art for Sandstorm in the Wizards catalog are both superior to what's at Amazon, in my opinion.

Yeah the picture on Wizards is much clearer and better lit. I'll take your word on the superior description since I imagine you have better insight than we do when it comes to the content of the book. If you can respond, as of now is it a stand alone novel? I'm looking forward to it. I always welcome insight into races that are off the beaten path of humans, elves, and dwarves.
Erik, thanks for the clarification and the heads up. I'm sure we will all keep our eyes open for further developments. |

It was written as a stand-alone novel, yeah. As for the descriptions, I just think for my particular book the WotC catalog has superior "sales copy" to what's on the amazon (and other online booksellers) page. I think the copy at amazon was written a lot earlier in the whole getting-out-a-book process.
Cheers,

Thanks for the insight. Hopefully there is enough interest in the book for a follow up (I'm assuming that it's possible for there to be a follow up and that you would have interest in doing that).
It looks like a number of those Amazon listings now have cover art. Some have better lighting than others. The cover art is unfortunately no real help on the mystery book. The cover art for Neverwinter Wood looks pretty good in my opinion (or at least it will once it's a little better lit). Still no sign of the Shadowbane cover unfortunately. |

As the author, I thought I'd jump in here and try to answer this (as much as I can within the limits of my NDA, of course). But I'm honestly not entirely sure I understand the question. Dungeons & Dragons Online (DDO) is an MMO set in Eberron. So a DDO novel is by definition an Eber-whatsit novel. ;)
Now, if you're asking if the book is based solely on the MMO game, or if it incorporates other aspects of the Eberron setting that the MMO game does not include at this time, well, I can't answer that officially. What I can do is repeat what I've said on my blog -- that we hope the book will bring DDO players into the world of the novels, and also that it will get the novel-readers to start playing DDO. Ideally, a win for all sides!
Hope that helps!

Well, the DDO was based on -- but not necessarily the same as -- Eberron. So what I'm asking is, is the book based on the Eberron setting directly, or on the DDO version of it? |

Actually, I don't think the DDO version is all that different from the Eberron of the novels. There ARE differences, of course, but most of them are for playability purposes and don't substantially alter the essence of the setting. As always, YMMV, but having read all the novels (and written a couple) and having played the game, I feel like it's still Eberron, either way.
And I'm really not trying to be coy by not answering your question more directly - there's just very little I'm allowed to say about the book at this point. What I CAN say is that the book should appeal to fans of both the MMO and the novels. Does that help at all? |

I hope Candlekeep continues to be the friendly forum of fellow Realms-lovers that it has always been, as we all go through this together. If you don’t want to move to the “new” Realms, that doesn’t mean there’s anything wrong with either you or the “old” Realms. Goodness knows Candlekeep, and the hearts of its scribes, are both big enough to accommodate both. If we want them to be. (Strikes dramatic pose, raises sword to gleam in the sunset, and hopes breeches won’t fall down.) Enough for now. The Realms lives! I have spoken! Ale and light wines half price, served by a smiling Storm Silverhand fetchingly clad in thigh-high boots and naught else! Ahem . . So saith Ed. <snip> love to all, THO

It's the clones that makes him interesting, to me. Popping back up, not matter how often you're killed, is quite the hook. |

According to the blurb on WotC website, "Unbroken Chain: The Darker Road" is set in Rashemen. :) My favourite part of the Realms.
Mr Byers is cooking up a trilogy which will be set there too (at least the first book), so these will be wonderful times for me as a FR novels reader. |

I had not previously heard of this, but it seems like the logical end result of the current marketing plan coupled with the games in a box. Legend of Drizzt Board Game: A Dungeons & Dragons Board Game (4th Edition D&D. I am assuming it is similar to Castle Ravenloft and Wrath of Ashardalon. |
