I also liked the first Icewind Dale game. I have tried playing the second one a couple of times but never gotten very far into it. Too many games, too little time. |

Pirates of the Sword Coast and Wyvern Crown of Cormyr. I have yet to find a module that has the same polish as on made for "professionally." If you know of some, would you PM them to me?
I've not played either, but WCoC comes from the same people who made Darkness over Daggerford and, for all the technical innovation shown in that module, the writing and story were mediocre beyond all speaking. So there's no way in hell am I going to cough up dough for that thing. Pirates don't interest me all that much.
I've many module recommendations to make, but apart from a handful, they aren't FR-specific. Obviously, not having played the premiums, I can't compare the level of polish. But I'd recommend many of them over the pathetic OC and SoU campaign.

I liked the first IWD and the HoW xpack tremendously for the atmosphere. And the Ravel cameos! (Yes, Ravel from PS:T.) |

I don't really see the attraction to turn-based gameplay myself. It's true that tabletop D&D is turn-based, but it has to be--a video game doesn't have to be. |

Yes, I've played them all so far except Infinite Dungeons. I found them all to be a lot of fun, and in some cases superb. |

There's also Infinite Dungeons, taking place in the Undermountain, but I haven't played it.
There truly are tons of great FR modules out there, though. Do try Darkness over Daggerford if you haven't already. It is "professional" if not a premium mod. |

Also, while I would agree that the story of DoD is rather "been there, done that", that's true for a lot of games, and the plot is solid if not particularly original. There are also tons of side-quests, and it's worth playing for the experience of exploring the area in and around Daggerford even if the plot itself is pretty standard fare.
Same goes for Wyvern Crown of Cormyr--a lot of new and interesting stuff (like jousting) that is worth trying for the unique experience. |

You're welcome. :) I do tend to think the premium modules are worth the money you pay for them, if not more. |

You can't. Premium mods require an Internet connection and it'll check every time you load it up whether you've valid verification or not, as far as I recall. |

That's very nice, but I can't say I approve of a non-MMO game which doesn't run if your internet connection is down. |

I'm presently doing Pool of radiance... I find it good, but not fabulous. I played NWN 1 and 2, prefer the secound one, but the first was good enought. Had played a little bit Baldur'S gate with friend 3 years ago, but was never able to finish it... |

I agree. If you don't approve, you don't have to buy!
The authorization checks can be annoying, but if they weren't there the premium modules would be really easy to copy. I can understand why the checks are there, and they aren't exactly kept secret from the consumer, either. |

Blood & Magic, an epic strategy game set in the mysterious Utter East - featuring the blood forges of old!
Actually, that game was awful.
I really enjoyed Throne of Bhaal - I actually beat Demogorgon, it was a glorious battle, one that I will remember (partially because I had to save - die - and reload numerous times before felling that foul demon). I also enjoyed taking Bhaal's throne. I was touched when Viconia became my high priestess. |

1. NWN1 2. BG 1&2 3. NWN2 4. DDO
I really don't like the interface of NWN2 and the OC bored me... to much to-and-fro in chapter 2 and the world was too small for me. That graphics are sweet though.
Like someone posted earlier in this thread, online is my only outlet for DnD now, which pushes NWN ahead of everything else considerably.
I've not played DDO, but several of my NWN friends have and, in a nutshell, I hear RP is lacking.
With NWN, you can find a server that fits your style and play there... My preference is an RP centric server with low magic items and slow advancement... and good servers will usually post their game style on their forums either on bioware or their external forums.

Curse of the Azure Bonds (my first! got it after I read the book) (Best Gold Box game) Pools of Radiance (should be before CotAB) Secret of the Silver Blades Pools of Darkness Hillsfar Some arcade like DragonLance game (never did manage to complete it but it was fun)
I'm currently playing NWN. I hated it when it first came out many winters ago, but I retried it last year and I've actually completed the OC, SoU, and HotU multiples times over the past year. Currently bringing my dual longsword wielding Fighter/Weapon Master/Champion of Torm to slay big bad Arch-Devil Mephy after my Elven machine gun (Arcane Archer) mowed him down just a week ago.
Was about to buy the Premium Modules but saw the Internet authorization thing and decided not to. Not sure whose loss is it but lots of user campaigns to keep me occupied in their stead.
Oh yeah, should add that I switched to Linux many winters ago so I can't quite recall how BG, BG2, IWD, and IWD2 are anymore. But I vote NWN for the best game as I never found the others to be so addictive. :) |

alright it's been a while but i have had an EPIC find, i was talking to my friend and found out he had a cd called gamefest FR classics and this is what the disk had on it: Pool of radience curse of azure bonds secert of the silver blades pools of darkness hillsfar eye of the beholder 1, 2 AND 3 dungeon hack gateway to the savage frontier treasures of the savage frontier menzoberranzan Blood and magic baldurs gate demo
ALL of this on ONE CD. the only problem is that the anti stealing things require you to say what word is on page 33 in the manuel and i do not have that so i can only play some of the games. But this was still an incredible find! |

Without out a doubt I'd place BGII - Shadows of Amn & it's follow up, The Throne of Bhaal as the best PC D&D game ever released.
BG still has a special placed in my heart but BGII was just such a step forward in what you could do. I only wish Biotec kept putting out those sort of games. There are fan based mods you can get which make for a new game experience but there's nothing like getting a properly developed game from a great game company.
NWN & NWNII are good but I never really warmed to the play system. NWN reall draw card hough was the persistant worlds where you can RP a D&D character for FREE and have some really good fun. Beat the crap out of WoW etc as it costs you nothing to play and the quality of the RP and players in general is light years ahead above the quest whores that proliferate WoW.
As for NWNII, the campaign that came with it was bleh for my tastes, very mediocre indeed. In fact I stopped playing about 2/3's of the way into the game and have never started it up since. Can't be bothered with it and I no longer have the time to play online anyway so I can't say if there are any good player made modules or presistant worlds out there but I'm sure there are.

I am playing BGT right now cause the story is great (this is my 5th time going through the game) but I have tried NWN2 online so that may addict me, along with everything else I try to cram into my time (reading, D&D and life). |
