Hi, Greetings to you all.

I just came to think about writing a new game. and the game I m thinking is involving a all sorcerer group of pcs who just became rookie after harsh years of training. I m considering the group will have a handler of a 10th level sorcerer who will lead them into missons and report their progress.

this concept amuzes me however I have a small problem that because of the limited number of spells in the players handbook I fear all the characthers will look alike. so ý m looking for a larger source for miscelenious spells. and I m also interested in ways for the charcters to improve themselves, I mean feats or metamagic stuff, diffent that the normal sorcerers.

I appreciate any help. And greeting to all of you again

Well, if this Group will be adventuring in the Forgotten Realms you should get the source book Magic of Faerun. very good for additional spells and the likes, also useful for other settings as well.

Also, think of the following:
Complete arcane, Tome of Magic
(from WOtC)

I will think of some more.

"Das Gras weht im Wind, wenn der Wind weht."

Compendium of Spells???? Nope, never heard of such a book. Sorry.

As for Tome and Blood: I have looked at this books as well, but it does not have that many spells or metamagic feats IIRC. Its more a book with new Prc and such. But to give your players options for diversity it still might suffice.

None the less, your choice. Check out the before mentioned books - you might like them.

Also - but more for necromantic magic: Libris Mortem
Another option will arrive shortly in the shelves of well organized book stores: Complete Mage

"Das Gras weht im Wind, wenn der Wind weht."

what books do you own?

I would start with the Spell Compendium too...

if you know how to convert 2E spells ino 3E spells the old Wizard's Spell compendiums are great

these books seem to be really interesting and for me especially useful. but unfortunately all are too expensive for me. I wish there had been a cheaper way (more preferably free).

maybe ý can coerce my school s frp club to buy these tomes but, well I can t think anything else.

I better start gathering information about lads' weak spots

then if you would like free stuff, I'd search personal web sites for spells you approve or learn to convert 2nd Edition Ad&D spells to 3rd edition D&D spells and then download old, free 2nd Edition modules

There's plenty of free stuff on the Wizards downloads page. Other useful free resources which could help with converting older material to 3.5 include:

Revised (v.3.5) System Reference Document
D&D v.3.5 Accessory Update Booklet

And, of course, the 2E to 3.0 book, which can be downloaded from the bottom of this page.

the feat has been reprinted a few times in Realms books...it's just a variation on the Scribe Scroll feat...

off hand I think Lords of Darkness has it, maybe Magic of Faerun and the Players Guide to Faerun

how does it work? let s say you create a lightning tatoo on your arm and enchant it with chain lightning spell, can you use chainlightning like you read from a scroll? will the tatoo disappear after using it or would it have charges that can be renewed in time?

I wish I could help you more now...I can check my books tonight, I haven't really delt with that feat much

I'm not sure if the actual "picture" of the tattoo matters (you don't need a lightning tattoo for a lightning spell)...I think it is like a "first Lv spell tattoo", a "second level spell tattoo", etc. that is discharged once by the one tattooed (spellcaster or not) and then has to be recharged again (by the same spell I think)

as it is an item creation feat..the making of the tattoo takes the craft skill (I think), gold and XP to make...

I'll get back to this tomorrow

Tattoo Magic is only in Lords of Darkness on p. 189/190, not in MoF or UE or FRCS or PGtF.

Edit note:
You might think of Tattoo Focus (a feat found in FRCS and PGtF).

true enough...I'm sure I'v seen it in some other source..probably a Dragon or Dungeon magazine...

and for Neoni...

tkes 1 hour to make the tattoo, must touch the tattoo to activate it, the tattoo can be of any spell Lv 3 or less, the bearer is the only one that can activate the spell, takes up a magic item space (unless you double it's cost), affected by the erase spell

it is a "one use" magical item and though I can't find if the tattoo is destroyed if used, I assume it is..like the writing on a scroll...only instread of a scroll, you are writing the spell on a body

The prerequisites are Craft (Calligraphy) or Craft (Painting) skill & spellcaster level 3+

thanks,

ý thought this magic tatoo was something more powerful. but ýt is just writing a scroll, no special use, just for role play purposes ý guess. maybe its limits can be extanded though, ý ll think about it.
