That was really sad . . . I loved General Dagna, and as a character his son wasn't bad, a very loyal bodyguard for Bruenor . . . but the name. Then again, the most respected dwarvin cleric in Mithril Hall right now is Cordio Muffinhead . . . |

What is the last name "Muffinhead" supposed to symbolize? Nothing? Come on... That's the most unflattering name I've ever heard, which is surprising, since RAS coined many awesome names like Breunor Battlehammer and Banak Brawnanvil. |
"That's right, hurl back views that force ye to think by name-calling - 'tis the grand old tradition, let it not down! Anything to keep from having to think, or - Mystra forfend - change thy own views!"
Narnra glowered at her father. "Just how am I to learn how to think? By being taught by you?"
"Some folk in the Realms would give their lives for the chance to learn at my feet," Elminster said mildly. "Several already have."

Muffinhead is (according to the way Ed explains dwarven names) the common translation of the clan name of Cordio's family, who, before Cordio, were known for being a clan of cooks and bakers. But you know . . . at some point wouldn't someone that speaks common tell the Muffinhead clan that their name wasn't exaclty . . . awe inspiring?
Then again . . . how many ways can Muffinhead be translated . . . Clan Breadmind . . . Clan Yeastbrain . . .
I'll come up with something . .. |

Oh my, the list could go on and on...*lol* Least Liked Characters -------------------------- Themalon Uskravan (jr)-He was so clueless and constantly lost his gloves too.
Alissza- She was nothing but an alu fiend in Hellgate Keep, they gave her a bit much power and she seems only in the books to be there to bed people. >.< Her plot get lost in that.
Midnight- I am still ticked she became Mystra. :P
Ilsevele-Goodness if she don't get a changed attitude soon I am going to let Malkizid out to end my pain. *lol*
Artimis Enteri- I know alot of people like him better then Drizzt but there is just something fake about him. Hopefully I will like him better with the release of the tales about him.
Danifae- There is just something about someone who would seduce Jeggred. -shudder-
On to those I do like... Mask- Yep I am a big fan of Mask he's been a favorite since 2nd ed. Kimmuriel-I like the psionic drow boi there's just something about him and the way he puts up with Jaraxle that amuses me. Cat Wyvernspur- Anyone Vandergest has to worry about offending is ok in my book. Fflar- I hope to see him more developed in coming books. Jezz the Lame- Yep I am a big fan of Dark elves and this one is fun. Arilyn Moonblade Elaith of Course.
I find that I like characters more then I dislike them.

I've never liked Artemis Entreri, either, because until Servant of the Shard, he's just been an anti-Drizzt.

Like Wooly. I fell in love with the realms because of the earlier novels based on the SSI games. So the original Pools of trilogy and the Finder novels still have a deep place in my heart.
Speaking of I need to pull those books out again and reread them.
Cat, Alais, Finder, Dragonbait, Giogi, Olive, Shal-bal, Tarn, Ren O' the Blade, and the others will always be some of my favorite characters. And for me, the Moonshae trilogies rate up there also.
Not that the new authors don't have good tales. Far from it! But those early FR novels, like the early Dlance ones, just brought me the wonder that is FR.
Maybe I just got older and more jaded but sometimes the novels that came after the early ones just don't grab me like the old ones. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Ah yeah! I agree I adore the earlier stuff, I enjoyed Evermeet and the earlier books as well. DLance also opened the D&D world up to me as well.
I am currently rereading Evermeet. |

I've got a rather large reading backlog right now... So I've not yet gotten to that book. Maybe I'll make that the next one I read...

*** SPOILER ***
Matteo Talbot Uskevren Erevis Cale Ryld Argith ( why did he have to die? ) Pharaun Jarlaxle
I really hate Danifae, if for no better reason than that she orchestrated Ryld's death. I don't know how to put this, but I hate her in a good way, since she is a very well-written character and it's hard not to have strong feelings toward her. |

Ah, yes, I missed someone: the most sanctimonious, irritating little rat in all of Forgotten Realms, the Sue of Sues: Jherek. A pathetic excuse for a character...flaws? Helloooo, flaws? "I feel bad for looking at a girl! I have an eeeeevil father and a dark, tormented past, I'm the Chosen one!I blush at the very thought of naaaaughty things!" Ugh...from the beginning, his complete lack of flaws (I mean...he doesn't have ONE, even Drizzt taunts his dying enemies for the love'a...) from his refusing a woman for...no apparant reason...the chastity angle just seems dumb and forced. Mel tried far too hard to make Jherek into a good guy and he ended up as a hateable goody-two shoes |

Thats an interesting reply. |
We have fostered trust, recruited loyalty, and gathered the faithful. We have trained thousands. Our legions can cover the land, fill the sky and travel through the darkness. *scratches head* Jherek's the protagonist of the Threat from the Seas trilogy, right? If yes, then word to all points. FR's a Sue breeding ground anyway, so hey. |

My favorite characters is Boo, no one else comes close.
Storm, the Knights of Myth Drannor, Bruenor, Pavel, Jack Ravenwild, Jahira and Minsc as they are presented in the computer game, and Deekin comes close, and pretty much defines the realms as far as I am concerned.
I can't say I hate any of the characters, but I am not a big fan of the sillier Salvatore dwarves and that drow with the urban sombrero. |

I have such a long list of characters that I like that it would take a year to tell them all, so I`ll just say the ones I hate. On top of the list comes LIoth, then Shar, then Kymil Nimesin and every single racist sun elf forever!
However, there is one character that I love above all others ever since I read the hunters blades trilogy. It`s Obould Many-arrows(ever since playing warcraft 3 I have had a soft spot for orcs. FINALLY they get a land to call their own in FR as well) |
If I were a ranger, I would pick NDA for my favorite enemy |

Well, quite true, but I truly wonder what would happen after the Hunter Blades Trilogy, will King Obould Many Arrows going to expand his influence (I mean spreading to that of an empire) and how would this redefine the orcs, especially King Obould Many Arrows. |
