In my short experience i can say, for now that my favourite character are Vangerdahast Khelben Blackstaff, a druidess cleric of Chauntea who appears in the Avatar's Trilogy and Adon and mi most hated ones are Cyric and Kelemvore. |

Hmm... With the pitiful selection of novels I've read I'm not really qualified to answer - so I'll return after I've read, say, ten more of them and comment again, but for now I'll say that:
Liriel and Zz'Pzora the dragon will probably stay two of my favourite characters, and I really liked Thorn too. And that whilst I really identified with him and found him interesting in the Dark Elf trilogy I really think Drizzt has outlived the depths of his character, and now annoys me (*ducks*). |

Favs:
Cyric (he's a bad arse) Malik of Cyric (a resourceful guy) Ivan Bouldershoulder (makes me laugh) Harkle Harpel (see above) Danilo Thann (dido) Torm of the Knights of Myth Drannor(he's a womanizer, and he's funny) Szass Tam (Lich power!) Jarlaxle (even more charisma than Danilo, but scarier) Pharaun Mizzrym (sly, likable drow) Aliiza (a beautiful, sex-crazed half-demon? you got my attention) Sefaris of the Darkmoon (from Black Bouquet)
Least favs:
Arlyn Moonblade (she has no depth. all she has is an all-powerful sword and her job) (Her interactions with Danilo are great, but without him, she's got nothing.)
Clacker (an R.A. "Braincramp" if I ever saw one)
Caddlery Bonaduce (He's whiny, he struggles with all this existential garbage, yet he is a superpowerul preist and if he ever gets it trouble he has his trusty yo-yo's (lame) to beat you up with. He just annoys me.)
Narm Tamarith (speaking of annoying, I actually started routing for this guy at first, but when he turned out to be a damsel in distress that had to brought back to life every two minutes, that ended fast)
Obould "Many-Arrows" (orcs aren't villans, they're the help of villans)
I can't think of anymore I don't like right now, but it will come to me.

God bless her, but I would have to put on my list of most hated characters that stupid naga with arms that Jean Rabe put in Red Magic. She was the head of the RPGA and didn't know nagas don't have arms? I mean no offence, this just always bothered me.
As he appeared in the Avatar Trilogy Cyric was one of my most hated characters, but in Prince of Lies and the Crucible he became one of my favorites, not unlike a FR Loki.
Khelbun, Danilo Thann, and Liriel are all favorites of mine as well. |

Love to Hate: Roddy McGristle Artemis Entreri Elaithe Craunaulber Sememmon (though there's no novels on him) Liriel Baenre (to me, she's an anti-protagonist)

And if I could include characters from my own stories: Love to Hate: Monolith (A sentient golem-thing) Psi and Vines (A symbiotic psionic man and assassin vine) Love: None (I always like my villains better) Just plain Hate: Daythrill - an ecomancer gnome barber of Lantan in a FR version of 'the Barber of Seville' - never touched him ever again after the first ten pages |

Favorite and most hated? Hmm...
Favorites are:
Cyric (I can't help but love him. He's awesome. I am a devoted Cyricist.) Artemis Entreri (Super cool. Nuff' said.) Lolth (Well, she tries to kill Drizzt...) Fzoul Chembryl (Hate Bane, but his Chosen is still cool.) Malik (Great comic relief, and he helped my beloved Cyric.) Quenthel Baenre (Uh...no comment.) Kelemvor Lyonsbane (Um. Uh. How did THIS get here?)
Most hated:
Mystra (Please, in the name of Cyric, KILL HER! I hate her SO BAD.) Drizzt (RAS, why have you killed Drizzt? He was cool at first.) Adon (Pathetic little piece of @#$%. No words can describe this idiot.) Ruha (Hated her from the moment I read about her.) All of Mystra's Chosen (They should die with their goddess. They're worthless and used as poor plot devices.) Wulfgar (OMG. Hate so bad.)
Well, that about sums up my opinions. Uh...yeah. |
Devoted Follower of Cyric, the One and All.

For me, here is the of my all time favored and all time hated.
All time favored, ranked according to number 1) Drizzt Do' Urden ( I personally like his Hunter ability and weapon skills) 2) Telamont Tanthul (he is well an excellent shadowmage despite his evil ways.) 3) Corran D' Arcey (the heroic paladin in the pool of radiance, admired for his devotion to his god and his honorable ways) 4) Shar, the goddess who controls the Shadow Weave. 5) Ivan and Pikel Bouldershoulders (Good for amusement.) 6) Melagaunt Tanthul (at least he is partially good.) 7) Elaith Craulnober 8) Danilo Thann 9) Bruenor Battlehammer (for his valor and admirable suicide attempt against the orcs in the Thousand orcs.) 10) Dorn Graybrook (the half-golem, admired for his zeal.) 11) Cadderly Bonaduce 12) Sammaster (admired for his crazy and insane works in the Cult of The Dragon) 13) Taegan Nightwind (that avariel is admired for his well Human acting skills.) 14) Iakhovas (at least he is a inspiring villain) 15) Lathander 16) Jherek Of Velen (in the Threat from the sea trilogy) 17) Pavel and Will (good for laughing at) 18) Urglen (good for laughing at as well) 19) Finder Wyvernspur
All time hated (ranked accroding to number) 1) Khelben Blackstaff Arunsun (too showy about his powers and position and think he is the backbone of Waterdeep Council of Lords, someone who must perish.) 2) Elminister (Too much of an showstar.) 3) The Seven Sisters (too well I mean loose, too overloaded and too over here and there ) 4) Mailk (Seraph of Lies that deserve a execution from Shade Enclave, too bad for him.) 5) Escanor Tanthul (a useless guy who deserve to perish.) 6) Cyric (the all time must hit target, well not I alone hate him, the other gods also hate him.) 7) Bane (another must hit target even when he is dead) 8) Manshoon (hate him for his stasis clones.) 9) Danica (too proud of her combat skills and a sure win attitude.) 10)The phaerimm (another target that must die, die, die. true as they are concerned about their own interests. See waht they done to Evereska) 11) Wulfgar 12) Vangerdahast(too arrogant) 13) Obould Many-Arrows (too over godlike) 14) Errtu (deserve to perish a thousand times or more) 15) Galeron Nihmedu (too useless and an incompetent shadowmage who don't deserve to be taught the shadow weave powers.) 16) Shandril (too moody) 17) Kierkan Rufo (too vampiric as well) 18) Sarevok (someone who does not deserve to live.) 19) Abdel Adrian (a useless mecernary ) 20) Hadrune (another useless shadowmage.) 21) Adon (somebody please go bag that drow.)

The only time I've hated someone for their use of spells was in game, when my character was the target . . . and in that case I hate every single Zhent, Red Wizard, and Host Tower lackey that ever learned fireball or disintegrate . . . but since this is the Novel section of the site . . .
Had he not been established as very cool in other books, I would have hated Gromph Baenre for this LACK of ability to properly utilize his spells for someone that has survived so long . . . but I am going to view book V of the WOTSQ as an anomaly, since I loved him before that, especially in book one of that series and in the Liriel books. |

For Manshoon, I hate him to the core, just hate his stasis clones and I had to make several attempts to kill him when he appears.
Ahhh, more names to be added to the hit list. Hated ones. 22) kaerlic and donnia in the Hunter blade trilogy (too sneaky and too stealthy) 23) King Azoun IV (yeah, he deserve to die. Too focused on expanding Cormyr to that of an Empire.)
All time Favored ones. 20) Steel Regent Alusair Obarskyr (A good steward of Cormyr, admirable for her leadership.) |

Azoun was too expansionist? Interesting . . . I know there was always the Arabel leaving/coming back into the kingdom thing going on . . . but that wasn't just on Azoun's watch . . . about the only expansionist thing I can think of was annexing Tilverton . . . or maybe leaving the garrison in Scardale, but given that every other nation in the region did the same you can hardly blame him for leaving a Cormyrean contingent.
You must have a great imagination becuase you seem to find character traits in some of these characters I never saw myself. |

Shadovar, in the future, you might want to be a little more careful with your word choices. One of the terms you use (in the 5:06 post) is considered rather derogatory, and could be offensive to a number of people. If I may, I'd like to ask you to edit your post.
I mean no offense, of course -- I'm just trying to keep there from being any problems. |

Wooly Rupert,
I want to thank you for taking the time to address this issue with Shadovar. As someone who posts here quite often and loves this community, you saw something that worried you and decided to address it. With some many people apathetic towards things these days especially online, it's refreshing to see such care and concern. I'm sure ALAUNDO will join me in expressing gratitude as soon as he sees these posts.
Shadovar,
I always really want to express my appreciation to you. You showed a great deal of class in responding to WR. Rather than argue or get defensive, you simply understood his concern and made changes to your posts. WR is not a moderator. And thus, you didn't have to make these changes he requested, but you did so any way. To me, that shows a great deal of maturity. I'm sure ALAUNDO appreciates you conducting yourself this way.
Hats off to both of you.

Kelemvor, especially as a deity. His information makes no sense for the duties he is supposed to perform. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird
