Well met
I don't think the extras will be that important, maybe in the boxed set thingy you will get an individual foreword to each book, but if you are only after the stories you should go with either... I doubt they changed anything. |

You can probably get the trilogy on ebay for $.99. That's your best bet unless you're rich, (in which case I'm jealous).
Otherwise, I believe that the collector's set is the original 3 novels (The Crystal Shard, The streams of Silver, and The Halfling's Gem), together in a 3-book holder. (You know what I'm talking about, right?) The Collector's set has all 3 books bound together and, since I do not own it, it may or may not have "extra info."
As a fan, I cannot imagine that any "extra info" could be especially important or add anything special to these already great novels. |

I agree, the Icewind Dale Trilogy is a true classic(they were also the books that got me introduced to the realms) and you should just get them for the purpose of the plot itself.
I don't think any of them have any real "extras." Just get whichever one is cheaper. |

Neither has anything extra. The gift set is all 3 softs in 1 box, the collectors is (atleast in the USA) a Trade Paperback format (same size as hardcover but with a softcover). So if you have lots of normal realms novels or plan on getting lots, it's porlly smarter to buy the gift set cause it'll fit nicely on your shelf with future Drizzt novels... that's my take. :) |
