Was Death of the Dragon ever released in paperback? I dont ever recall seeing it anywhere. I have this in hardcover along with Cormyr: A Novel (which I also have in paperback.... signed by Ed Greenwood  ) and would like to get DotD in paperback as it would fit better on the shelf with the other two paperbacks in the series  sad aint I!

DO you know it it is a standard size paperback or one of the larger style (like Silverfall, the new Shandrils Saga etc.) |

Just so you know, the smaller size is called a mass market paperback, and the larger size is a trade paperback. The difference in naming conventions has to do with the distribution channels where they are sold, how they are treated for returns, etc., and I'm not really sure there is even a practical difference anymore, but there definitely used to be.

No, I'm the same way. I like my books to all match, if they're the same series. That's why I was initially upset at the new covers, until I took a good look at them. I'm still upset that they won't match, but they do look good, don't they? |

| a friend of mine who works in the local library told me that the trade paperbacks (larger size paperbacks like the recent Shandril's Saga books) are also referred to as softcovers. I kind of like that terminology, especially since the softcovers are nearly the same size as the hardcovers.. give a bit of continuity to it. |

Reminds me of when I was in second grade. (Grade three to those in the rest of the world.) I called the small ones "softbacks." I didn't know about trade-size until later.
Personally, I don't like trade paperbacks. If it's a choice between mass market or trade, I usually go for trade. I just don't like how limp it goes when open. Plus, if I'm already paying that much for trade, might as well spend a little more for hardback, which is what I prefer.
Now, it does depend on size of the book, in all dimensions. I got My Son, the Wizard in a smaller trade because it was the only copy, and I wanted to read that book now. (Very good series!) The reason I haven't bought another is because, like I said, it's a small size. Small enough, I think.
I guess my rule is, if I can't hold it open with one hand, then it's better to get another. I like to read with one hand, like while eating or stirring food on the stove.

I prefer hardcover only. Unfortunately not all the realms novels are published that way. I even go as far as buying the hardcover versions of books I already have in paperback or trade.
I could imaging the Sembia series sitting nicely in abound version on my bookshelf... The strange thing fo me was that WotC decided to publish Cormyr: A Novel in harcover and Death of a Dragoin as well... but not Beyond the High Road !?! Unless they have doen so unnoticed by me in the mean time...

I feel exactly the same, Bookwyrm. They just seem to fall open really limply and dont feel right to hold. Depending on the series, I usually go for mass-market paperback and hardcover If I think that the series warrants it, such as WotSQ and Salvatore novels (hmmm, does that leave much else?!  ). However, I think it very odd that WotC are releasing Windwalker in Hardcover when they have only done Daughter of the Drow and Tangled Webs with new cover art in softcover!! Now THAT is really gonna screw up a lot of peoples collections! Im personally going to wait for the softcover next year.
Otherwise, whatever way you look at it, youll end up with hardcover DotD and TW in the old cover art and WW in new cover art, or DotD and TW in new art and a hardcover WW!
