You know, that raises an interesting question--we on Earth have all sorts of slang and euphemistic sorts of names for sex and sexual acts. What would some of those be in the Realms?

Tumbling . . .

Riding the stallion . . .

Tupping the half-orc . . .

Doing it bulette style?

Perhaps this is a question for Ed of the G . . .

Cheers

A rather bad inside joke from GenCon that's gotten way out of hand. Be thankful you missed it, for it shall rear its ugly head for years to come, until finally the dragon on the GenCon catalog has a nametag that reads "Lisa" and only one of us old fogies is still cogent enough to remember the humor in it.

OH My!

Erik and I were trying to come up with Realmsian slang for sex and sexual acts...

Are there any you could share with us?

Lady THO, I know this may be completely and utterly out of character . . . but this may require a bit of [gasp] naughtiness.

If Ed would be keen on throwing out some ideas, we could forward this question to him as well!

Actually, considering that the Obarskyrs are almost uniformly a randy bunch, I'm sure a more accurate Cormyrean expression would be something like "playing a royal" or "showing him/her his crown".

Obarskyring

Erik and Red Walker, Ed has HUNDREDS of euphemisms (see his novels for some). Off the top of my er, head I can recall:
Spanking the moon"

"Buffing the lance" or just "lancebuffing"

"Drowning Albaerus" [[don't ask; let's just say that "Albaerus" was a name bestowed by one male on a part of himself]]

"stormriding" (yes, this began as a Harper term and was then "Stormriding")

"greeting the gods"

. . . . and I'll have to think a bit to recall more. Yours in service to dirty young, middle-aged, and old men for over 40 years.

I figured Ed would have some great ones. I'll use the lot of them, but I love "Stormriding" the most, those lucky Harpers.

I should love to hear as many as you can think of--and as many as other Scribes might find in all those Ed-novels!

No idea about consensus, but I think the depilation of dwarven women is part of the same gutless pandering to contemporary infantilist beauty vogues as the mini-elf 3E halflings. I like dwarven women as Realmslore (and Greyhawk lore) has them, generously bearded.

I love that song! And now it takes on a whole new meaning.

"Instead of asking why we sleep, it might make sense to ask why we wake. Perchance we live to dream. From that perspective, the sea of troubles we navigate in the workaday world might be the price we pay for admission to another night in the world of dreams."

Yeah it makes it much more sensual I'd say!

I could see Ed writing a nice scene with the lovely Storm and that song in the background

I'll just interject one of my favorite slang terms that was popular for a few summers back in the mid-to-late 1360s of the Dalereckoning, among Cormyrean fathers sending their noble daughters to revels in the hopes of snagging the best possible husband:

Cod fishing.

As you were...

You know, no matter how loyal a knight I may be to my lady, if there were two women in the Realms that would get me into trouble it would have to be Storm and Liriel. "Stormriding," indeed . . .

What about the "Scabbard of Endless Polishing" (which came up at Spin a Yarn '07, I might add)?

And the talking sword with a chip on his shoulder (figuratively speaking) about his size/length, who just wants to be sheathed . . . repeatedly?

(Again--Spin a Yarn.)

Oooh! We're going to start listing hot ladies in the Realms, are we?
