They need to bring him back into more stories! Though I guess that might be difficult writing about a vampire. There's only so many plots one can think of right?
in the Ravenloft accessory Champions of the Mists Jander is discussed post-Vampire of the Mists
Really? That's awesome!! Thanks, I'll have to look into that. I was hoping there was something out there after that book. |
"What's that," asked Mogget. "Sardines," said Sam. "I knew they were standard rations, so I got a few tins for you." "What are sardines?" Moggest asked suspiciously. "And why is there a key? Is this some sort of Abhorsen joke?" Abhorsen by Garth Nix

No problem..I remember something about how he is hanging out in Forlorn and plots to finally destroy Strahd (which I think it would be a mistake as he'd probably be drawn into being the Dark Lord afterwards
Did you read his short story in Champions of Valor (I think thats the anthology he is in )? |

How many novels has Jander Sunstar been in? Is it just "Vampire of the Mists?" Anyway, he also appears in a number of short stories, one in Realms of Valor, and another from Best of the Realms.
Personally, I would like to see more of Alias and Dragonbait, and pretty much the entire crew of those books would be nice. This is probably a terrible idea, but what do you think of having a series of novels featuring a huge cast of the most famous Realms characters, ranging from Elminster, to Drizzt, to Alias, and all the way to Cadderly and Storm Silverhand. Basically, an epic series where all the heroes (and some villains) gather to push the Orcs back to where they came from, or something like that. |

I must admit that I don't like the idea. This comes both from not liking realms-shaking events and that trying to give so many characters their place in the sun would just be confusing.
I would love to see most of these characters again, but in less "epic" stories and not to many at a time. |

There's a dozen or two characters mentioned in the lore than I'd like to see showcased; a few of them I've asked Ed about on his thread. I know I'm susceptible, but they're almost people I've heard about through friends and would like to meet. Some who've got write-ups in Dragon, others referred to offhand. And Mirt and Durnan, of course. |

On this I will agree. I liked Alias, Dragonbait, Olive, and Mintassan... And I'd love to see more of Giogionni and his wife Cat!

I can't say that I agree...
For one thing, it seems too comic book-ish, and I bailed on comics out of boredom a while ago.
For another thing, it would have to be a huge, monumental threat to get all those characters together -- and we've seen enough RSEs.
Plus, they have a very wide range of capabilities. A swordfight that would challenge Alias is something Drizzt would walk thru in a minute and a half. Meanwhile, Elminster and Storm are wiping out entire armies... It just doesn't work. The characters are all on different scales.
Also, something like that would irrevocably alter the balance of power in the Realms, and change everything. I like my changes to be smaller than that.
My vote remains the same: revisit some of the classic characters we've only seen once or twice, and get some of those other guys into novels, so we can see Baelam the Bold and Mintiper Moonsilver in action! |

Sorry for the delayed response, my computer is getting worked on so it's hard to log in.

In answer to your question kalin, I have read them... it's just been a super long time. *laughs* I should dig out those books and re-read them. |

I agree with those who'd like to see Pharaun Mizzrym.
Although with Alissa finding his finger at the end of the book, and now her and Khanr Vhok having a book about them, I feel Pharaun will be back.
I would love to see another book featuring brownwyn, but Elaine is so busy these days. |

Just came to mind,
It is long overdue to resolve Lhaeo's situation.
A book resolving his character could be great. |

What do you mean? If you are talking about the real Lhaeo, he's living pretty happily as King of Tethyr (see the Lands of Intrigue supplement). His story *has* been resolved. |

Bronwyn. Apparently, the upcoming EC anthology will feature a story that ties up a lot of loose ends from Thornhold. |

Yup, with Zaranda Star and their three children. :) |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Yes, I am looking forward with great anticipation to The Knights of Samular. I hope this fills in a bit on Bronwyn as well as her father.
Also Elaine responded to my post on her Amazon blog, that Bronwyn will make a small appearance in the last Song ans Swords book. Along with much trouble from Elaith Craulnober.
Here is part of her reply to my question about Bronwyn:
Hi Ashley,
I'm working on the sixth and final book of the Songs & Swords series. It will focus on Dan and Arilyn, with Elaith getting in all kinds of mischief and mayham, but Bronwyn will only play a small role. There will also be a new short story entitled "The Knights of Samular" in the upcoming Forgotten Realms anthology THE BEST OF THE REALMS: THE STORIES OF ELAINE CUNNINGHAM. This ties up some of the loose threads from the novel THORNHOLD.
Best, ec |

I'd like to hear about or actually encounter Sememmon and Ashemmi in more Realms novels. They have a ton of potential now they have supposedly switched sides. |
And if the PCs DO win their ways through all the liches to Larloch, “he” will almost certainly be just another lich (loaded with explosive spells) set up as a decoy, with dozens of hidden liches waiting to pounce on any surviving PCs who ‘celebrate’ after they take Larloch down. As the REAL Larloch watches (magical scrying) from afar. Myself, as DM, I’d be wondering: “Such a glorious game, so many opportunities laid out before your PCs to devote your time to, and THIS fixation is the best you can come up with? Are you SURE you’re adventurers?” -Ed Greenwood

Zaranda Starr's tale was in the War in Tethyr book. Though we don't get a lot of coverage on the Reclamation itself, I believe it was described in the Lands of Intrigue boxed set, available for free from the Wizards downloads page. |

Alias and Dragonbait! I will second Kajehase, I would love to see more of the characters from the old comic books! Kyriani. Also how about a novel with the centaur and dwarf? I know they are in Tethyr now, but how about sending them on a mission for Queen Zaranda? The centaur's name was Timmoth Bright-eyes, but what was the dwarf's name? Also, how about a story featuring Dwalimor Omen and crew? I really liked the characters from that comic. (What was the title of that?) The paldin and the Kensai(samurai?), the halfling was a good character as well... IMO. |

I will chalk this up to my realms experience being striclly from novels. |

Don't forgot Heroes and Villian's Lorebooks for Zaranda's info before Lands of Intrigue but after the novel that she played a part in. |
