Considering that the entire series was planned before it was written, I'm doubting that it was Paul's decision to kill Pharaun. |

Actually, Mr. Kemp himself has said, on this very message board, that the decision to kill Pharaun was his. It was, IIRC, on a big thread about Resurrection when it came out in hardcover. |

Eh, I think Pharaun deserved to die, when you get right down to it. |

I stand corrected. I've avoided those threads, since I'm working my way thru the trilogy for the first time. I'm about halfway thru book 5, right now. |

Wooly, is that trilogy in the Douglas Adams sense of the word? |

aside from that...unfortunately I haven't read that many old books yet, but I'd like to know what happened to that ranger from the Twilight Giant trilogy, well both rangers, Avner and the other dude
Have you read the Crucible yet? You may find out a bit more about Avner therein . . . |

I liked most of the characters from both DC/TSR comics that were set in the Realms... I'd certainly be happy to see a novel with any of them!
But yeah, it would be nice to see Dwalimar and crew in action again... |

The crew of the Realms Master, of course.
The Realms Master was a ship captained by the Halruaan wizard Dwalimar Omen. Using an artifact called the Astrolabe of Nimbral, he teleported the ship around the Realms, hunting dangerous magical artifacts so that he could take them out of circulation. His crew consisted of:
Foxilon Cardluck, a halfling thief from Luiren
Minder, an iron golem that contained the soul of a deceased dwarven adventuring companion
Vartan Hai Sylvar, an arrogant (and clueless) gold elf cleric of Labelas Enoreth
Priam Agrivar, a once-fallen human paladin that had redeemed himself
and Ishi Barasume, a warrior-woman from Kozakura
Their adventures were chronicled in the DC/TSR comic book title Forgotten Realms. They were later detailed in Dragon, which also had a short story or two about them, and Dwalimar, the Realms Master, and the Astrolabe of Nimbral were all mentioned in the 3E Shining South.
This comic also had the first appearance of Jasmine, the winged girl who wound up in the Spelljammer comic book, only to return to the Realms in the novel Finder's Bane. |

Vartan is mentioned also in Demihuman Deities and he was Labelas's avatar in the Time of Troubles and he was Labelas's Proxy for a time but he's still Labelas's Chosen. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

I greatly enjoyed the characters (if not the writing) in War in Tethyr. I would like to see more of them. More Jack Ravenwild would also be good. I also would like to see "the silver raven" (I forget his name right now) as the focus of a book.

Giogi has had a few small appearances in several novels, the last being elminster's Daughter, but a novel more dedicated to this character would be cool. |

I second (third?) Jack Ravenwild. I also third Alias and Dragonbait-even though I am currently in the middle of Azure Bonds.
In addition: Valas and Ryld Argith (WotSQ) Drasek Riven (Erevis Cale Trilogy)

Speaking of Elminster's Daughter, I wouldn't mind seeing Narnra Shalace again. |

Hey, no bad-talking of Wombats, these two characters deserve a trilogy of their own! The search for the Pouch, where they travel across Faerun in search of signs form the gods about the location of the Wombat gods. Get a lowdown perspective on how the hairy ones dig the lands we all know so well! How to survive on four legs and without any magic? Find out in the wombats Journal entries.
Sorry, to early, to little coffee. In all seriousness these were probably the only comic relief characters I have enjoyed in FR fiction. Then again, I am a sucker for talking animals. |

The problem is, that the wombats completely killed the deadly jungle feel of one of those novels. I could never take the books seriously after that. Those novels should have read like H. Rider Haggard, or Joseph Conrad, and instead, they read like Doc Savage on LSD. |

That actually makes the books sound more interesting than it really was. Seriously though, the one thing I didnt like about this book was that it felt to much like a realms version of a Haggard story. I like the book, but there is something about it that seems a little to contrived to me. |

I'd like to see more of a minor character, goes by the name of Vrakk, he was the orc general on Azoun's crusade and he had another appearance in Prince of Lies...what I saw of him I liked a lot! |

They need to bring him back into more stories! Though I guess that might be difficult writing about a vampire. There's only so many plots one can think of right?
in the Ravenloft accessory Champions of the Mists Jander is discussed post-Vampire of the Mists

I'm with you on that one Mace! I've mentioned Commander\General Vrakk before on these forums. He's a great character and I took to him straight away. He DOES appear in another book also (hence his promotion from Commander to General). |
