Does anyone here play the RPGA conventions/tournaments circuit?

The reason I ask is because I would really like to know what happened to the Green Regent modules. For those unfamiliar with the series you may look here for the rundown:

http://www.wizards.com/default.asp?x=dnd/archfr/frgrb

To date there have been twenty of these modules. I have managed to aquire ten of the series through Ebay, but since September of last year (2005), it seems that none of the later modules have surfaced (including some of the more interesting sounding titles like Dungeon of the Hark and Undermountain). Does anyone know the reason for the scarcity? Most vendors who sold these modules said they were won as tourament awards/prizes....(this practice is still continuing with the Eberron Mark of Heroes line).

Did they simply stop offering the Forgotten Realms lines as rewards?

As these are not commercially sold products, would it be possible for Candlekeep create a PDF archive of these for the readers here to freely access? Or do copyrights prohibit such?

Just My Thoughts

Can't really answer all your questions, but I can tell you that a) they were never commercially available and b) yes, there are copyright issues.

LotGR was problematic from early on. One early adventure never even saw the light of day, the 'XGR' modules (including the Dungeon of the Hark) were almost impossible to find. To cap it all off, it seems like the climax of the campaign arc may not even see the light of day either.

Which adventures have you managed to track down?

It would be nice if they would reprint these modules in issues of Dungeon once they are retired from tournament play. At the very least just to give Realms fans a chance to have the knowledge and maps to add to existing realmslore. Granted there is not much to the modules when compared to a commercial release like CotSQ or SoG...

I really wish that WOTC would at the very least post these as purchasable PDFs on their site. I can understand that doing an 'official' print run would be far too expensive.... but certainly putting them online and charging for them would only be profit. Oh well, until till someone over at Wizards central gets the hint...it's back to scanning EBay.

For those interested in hunting down your own copies The list is as follows. (Modules that I have seen appearing on EBay are underlined.)

LGR1 Extermination
LGR2 Gray Hunt
LGR3 Key to Phantoms' Cloister
LGR4 Secret of Phantoms' Cloister
LGR5 Dark Exodus
LGR6 Epidemic
LGR7 Nurture and Nature
LGR8 Rat's Bastard
LGR9 Denial of Resource
LGR11 Humility
LGR12 Tyranny
LGR13 Book Knowledge
LGR16 In Cold Blood

LGR17 Tour of Duty
LGR18 Feast on the Moon
LGR19 Difference of Option
LGR20 The Howling of a Mighty Storm
LGR21 The Truth of Hearts and
LGR22 As Seconds Slip Away
XGR1 Under High Lord's Hall
XGR2 Dungeon of the Hark
XGR3 Undermountain
XGR4 Ruins of Karse

This does raise one question however…Are these considered canon material?

Edited To Update List - Thanks NiTessine

Chyron, your list is missing LGR17: Tour of Duty, LGR21: The Truth of Hearts and LGR22: As Seconds Slip Away.

Were LGR10, LGR14 and LGR15 never released, or are they just hard to find?

I'd consider the Legacy of the Green Regent series to be on the lowest tier of canon - that is, canon until contradicted by a novel, accessory, or a newer source.

We probably won't be seeing these modules after this. If the contracts are anything like they are with Living Greyhawk modules, copyrights issues prevent releasing the modules outside of the RPGA system. Also, RPGA adventures generally don't work very well outside of RPGA, since they're designed for convention play, which enforces a time limit. Commercial release would thus be unviable, especially after the reputation the campaign gained thanks to its strange, Communistic level kick system, the unreliable and unworkable online character management (in Living Greyhawk, we have this thing called paper...), and the problems they've had getting adventures out.

Well met

I have a number of these modules myself and have been meaning to list the details up on the Candlekeep site. I'll list here soon what I have and if anyone else has any in addition who would be willing to provide me with cover scans and a few extra details then i'd greatly appreciate it

I certainly think they're worth listing, as they are Forgotten Realms afterall

Check out the GReen Regent section of the FR area over at Wizards theyve done a bunch of articles that tell how each module was "solved"

Just an afterthought, but...

...wouldn't it be nice if the RPGA licensed the "Green Regent"-Modules to someone (like Paizo for example) who in return publishes them in a Campaign-Book kind of product, much like the Dungeon Adventure Paths?

Aye, that would be VERY nice indeed It is a little unfair to keep the Green Regent modules hidden away from us dedicated Realms fans

They may have never been. There was one that was never published that was a sequel to one of the Phantom's Cloister mod. It was very frustrating because in the previous mod, the PCs are left hanging, having been drawn into a portal with a To Be Continue.

I liked some of the stuff that I read at the Wizards website, although the backstory conflicts somewhat with existing Realmslore. I didn't like the "Green Regent" name, or the history about "Rensha Lords from Calimshan". But that just shows what you can do with using your imagination in YOUR Realms, if you just modify established lore and dare to play around with ideas.

I noticed that RPGA is starting another Eber-Whatsit Living Campaign, so maybe there will be another for FR as well? Any volunteers, my esteemed collagues?
