Hail and well met all sages...

The question I pose to you, o' learned ones, is this:

Does anyone know what language was spoken in Ancient Jhaamdath?

Thank you for your assistance,

Berwick

Not exactly a "sage" but I'll posit an answer...

Well they spoke Jhaamdathan.. A pretty simple and uninformative answer, but that's it.. I posted a question similar to this many moons ago.. Ancient Jhaamdath (combined with Alzhedo from Calimshan) is apparently one of the precursors to Thorass (ie. Common language).. One can surmise from FR history and migrations that the Turami language probably also had an impact on Ancient Jhaamdathan in the distant past (you'll have to look up the Turami-Jhaamdath migration dates yourself).. And given that, the Imaskari (Turami neighbors) may or may not have had an impact on the Turami language as well (simple conjecture on my part)..

RoF states they spoke Jhaamdathan. I'm pretty sure LEoF says the same as well.

As it is... Alzhedo and Jhaamdathan are the two major root tongues of Thorass -- RoF. Alzhedo itself was derived from Midani -- the language of the human peoples that migrated to Zakhara from another world by way of portals. Chondathan on the other hand, is the modern form of Jhaamdathan.

Hmmm... I always thought that Alzhedo was related to (or derived from) Auran?
