For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Just out of curiosity... You're not thinking of bringing chocobos into the Realms are you Warlockco?

For future reference, I've found that The DragonDex, an up-to-date index of all of the articles in Dragon, can be a useful resource.

Thanks Wooly, that is now a bookmarked site.

Edit: Figures in the Issue that would have been next, if I had continued going through them all.

Maybe...

Want to see anyone gets the reference in my game...

Edit: It will be awhile before I can spring this on them though, since we just ended my stint as DM, and letting someone have a go at his 3rd try as a DM for a D20 Modern Cyberpunk game (rather use GURPS for a Modern or Near-Future game).

Plus I will be needing to play music for this bit, since I do have the Soundrack to FFVII

Hehe... I'd loved to hear how it goes.

On a related note, I've discussed using chocobos in the Realms before here at Candlekeep. I believe it was in a scroll Arivia started about what you, as a DM, have brought or used in your Realms campaign from other settings or genres.

Well, I steal things from all the various Campaign Settings out there.
Have even made stats for Mage Knight figs.

I'm not one of those Hardcore FR Players or DM.
I use the world setting mainly because it is something that players can look into so they can become familiar with the world.

FR was always more Adaptable friendly than GH or DL ever was for me, and yes I have worked on my own world before, but after awhile you just want to get lazy and just "steal" someone elses work to use.
Plus I'm lousy at making maps.

To keep this scroll from going off-topic, I'll take this to PM. I wouldn't mind hearing about which figures you've made stats for... From which expansion set?

Hey Warlockco - if you need a copy of all the Chocobo songs from VII-X-2, just ask... I have all the soundtracks, and as my wife loves the Chocobo song, have a CD already made that I could copy for you.

Still rockin' the Fey'ri style.

LOL, thanks, but I'm good. The FFVII soundtrack has more than enough for the use I need.

Chocobos have always been in the Realms. But they are called axebeaks. They have been around since the original 1e Monster Manual.

Axebeaks have been updated to 3E in the Arms & Equipment Guide in the mount section on p.83.

Was given this nice handy link for finding stuff in Dragon issues: http://www.aeolia.net/dragondex/
Thanks to Wooly.
