I am afraid that i have encountered the problem only 2 days ago on the 26th of july about midnight CET. But it was only a short while and a few minutes later i could get back on the forum.

Well met

It appears that we had a forum outage last night. I don't know for sure how long this spanned over, but apologies for the inconvenience for those who could not gain access.

It lasted for a very long time, near as I could tell, sorry that I don't have exact times, but it was more than 6 hours I think.

I got in around noon, my time. When I got home from work, the site was down. I tried off and on for several hours, until my sleep-inducing couch attacked me (around 10 or so). When I woke up at about 1 a.m., the site was accessible -- but there had only been a handful of posts since my noon check.

Well met

Thank ye for the information. Alas, it went down again at 15:30 and just just come back

Strangely, this erratic uptime\downtime situation has bursts like this, as before, but then appears to settle down.

I am currently investigating a number of avenues with this issue and hope to have some solution soon. Mayhaps a server upgrade is overdue ::tips the Candlekeep coffers upside down::

Oh, no, Could it be another Time of Troubles has come about? Are the deities once again walking our fair Realms? Why can I not touch the weave, the source of all my Realms knowledge? Is my magic box perhaps in a magic dead zone? Heellpp!!! (Sorry, I am a little highstrung ever since that fateful Gnoll episode/encounter...)

I had nothing to read at lunchtime! I usually hit the 'Keep while at lunch, but this day, the 'Keep was not here for me to hit! It was most not fun.

Worse for me, I was unable to acess the forum for the whole day long and even night as well!

We have fostered trust, recruited loyalty, and gathered the faithful. We have trained thousands. Our legions can cover the land, fill the sky and travel through the darkness. Hehe... I was home for most of yesterday, which is normally a good thing -- but there was no Candlekeep .

Instead, I had time to "enjoy" discussions with the Lady K's visiting sister ...

For some reason, she finds Big Al intimating .

Not as lucky as Lady K, though

Well, I did it . It took some convincing (mainly reassurances about how Wooly Rupert is really the scribe to watch out for ), but the Lady K's sister has finally agreed to register at Candlekeep the next time she visits.

Alas, it would appear that the root cause of the issue, is down to the actual load being put on the forum database. When activity is high, it simply can't hope (on the plus side, this means that the "database corrupt" message is a red herring ).

The bad news, is that until I can scrape together a few more copper pieces, I will be unable to put a permanent solution in place (i.e. migration to an SQL Server), so unfortunately, this situation may occur in the future. Oddly, it appears to happen in rare spurts.

Again, I apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.

Al,
One possible way to raise funds is to maybe get a Paypal account so people can donate contributions towards maintenances and upgrades for the Keep?

Yeah, that's why I have yet to hand over that software I was talking about.

The initial tests I performed seem to show that the software works best with a complete base of SQL.

Well met

No doubt many are aware of the recent forum downtime which started yesterday at around 17:45GMT. I'm unsure as to when the forum actually came back but the first posts didn't start to come in until after 06:00GMT. This is certainly the most lengthy downtime we have had with this issue!

The issue started again a couple of days ago, with short bursts of downtime, and strangely (and hopefully) it may not resurface for a couple of months.

So again, apologies for the inconvenience caused by this and may I also take this opportunity to again thank those who have kindly donated funds to aid in the running and improvement of Candlekeep. This will certainly be going to good use. Many, many thanks. My appreciate cannot be expressed enough.

Oh I have the same problem EVERY day when I come to Candlekeep, at least once a day it goes off like that. Some times longer than others. Certainly last night was one of the longest I have known, as it was me posting in the early hours

Before yesterday, the "corrupt database" error hasn't occured since September. Sometimes if you don't get onto the forums and your browser appears to have locked, try hitting refresh a few times and it will appear. Again, this is due to load on the database.
