This excerpt is awesome!!! I“m waiting for this book with much more desire, now.
Yuri "Chosen of Moradin" Peixoto, thinking about it: if only in the last week the Lost Empires of Faerun came to Brazilian Stores, when I will put my hands in Waterdeep??? |

Sweet glories of the Wonderbringer... !!! How could I have missed THIS ...
Well, aside from all the other exciting tidbits previewed, it looks as though the walking statues also receive some well-deserved attention in CoS.
You've got a winner here Eric .

The Order of the Sun Soul, and their connection to Amaunator are another interesting addition. And given the faith's affliation with Lathander, Selūne, and Sune, it makes sense that they'd set up shop in Waterdeep.

Sage, when I first saw this I couldn't figure out the link to Waterdeep. Are Sune, Lathander, and Selune particularly popular in Waterdeep? |

Off the top of my head, I don't recall whether or not Sune has a temple there. I know that Lathander does (the name Rhyester's Matins comes to mind), and Selūne has a major temple there -- it's where she spent part of the ToT (before that, she was bartending in a Dock Ward tavern). Plus, there's a nifty thing called the Moon Sphere... |

Indeed, Sune does have a temple in Waterdeep. The Temple of Beauty, overseen by the High Priestess Ssaeryl Shadowstar, as I recall.
The Spires of the Morning is the name of Lathander's temple in Waterdeep.

My bad... I was thinking of his temple in Silverymoon.
Next time, I shall consult the list of Named Temples of the Realms. |

You probably still wouldn't have seen it. Lathander's temple in Waterdeep is missing from that listing. Sune's Temple of Beauty is mentioned, as is Selūne's House of the Moon.
Big Al, is there any chance you can add Lathander's missing temple to the list of temples that Wooly just linked to on the main site?

No, it's on there. It's the fourth from the bottom under his entry. |

*Off-topic question*
Is anyone else getting the impression that there is the possiblity that Amaunator is somehow being slowly reintroduced into the Realms? Foreshadowing perhaps? I find it interesting the number of references to him in recent publications. |

Indeed it is. My changing avatars must have caused me to miss the reference .
You can disregard what I said earlier Alaundo, about adding the Morninglord's temple in Waterdeep to the listing .

Remember though, that Amaunator died of neglect, unlike some of those gods who have returned from the "dead" previously. Since people stopped worshipping him, he lost his realm because he no longer had the energy to maintain it.
Unless there is a significant, and extremely rapid increase, in the collective faith of Amaunator in the Realms, he's unlikely to ever return from his grave on the Silvery Void and resume a position within the pantheon of Faerun. And even if he does return, will he have enough divine power to resume his role and continue to support all his previous portfolios of the sun, rulership, law, and contracts?
Of course, in 3e, there's always the chance that Amaunator could be reborn, and soon. It's probably just as likely that a common mortal might one day ascend and seize the sun god's former place in the pantheon.

If Lathander keeps playing with his Dawn catclysm spells then I can see Ao laying the smack down on Lathander and perhaps even resurrecting Amaunator as a more reliable replacement after Amaunator played by the rules even when it meant his own decline and death |

Lathander isn't really a moron -- he's just over-enthusiastic. Give him a couple millenia or so, and he should settle down.
Besides, keep in mind that his efforts towards the Dawn Cataclysm are in keeping with his portfolio. He wants to banish the darkness in a gigantic rebirth for the Realms.
Looking at it that way, he's really not that different from Oghma, Talos, Shaundakul, or Cyric. He's too focused on one thing, but so are all the other deities. |

Yes, though I find it a bit irritating that he has a combination of portfolios that make him a disaster waiting to happen. BTW, what was Shaundakuls portfolio. I can`t remember. |

My campaign that I started in fall is based on the return of the Shadow thieves, I was in shock to see the most two secrets characters of it on the WOTC web site (BlackViper, Marune) hehe.
I have a question for some who already have the book, what happened to Alek Lenter (A shadow thief agent in 2E City of Splendors) that is not on the excerpt.

I've only seen one reference to him. The named locations in the Dock Ward includes a warehouse owned by him. |
