A number of Candlekeep Scribe have been unhappy with some of the rooms that appeared in the Undermoutain articles on the grounds they lacked a Realms feel....

Well heres your chance to put your money where your mouth is

Eh... I'm kind of interested, but at the same time, I'm loath to participate in anything on that forum. I swore I'd not participate until my wrongful banning was rescinded, and since that's never going to happen...

And before someone asks, yes, I am willing to let my anger at being mistreated keep me from earning some cash. It's the principle of the matter, and it won't be the first time I've turned down money to stick to my beliefs. I was wronged, I am owed an apology. I'll go so far as to say that I'd decline the cash in favor of a public apology from BigSis and the reinstatement of my username.

" A committee of WizOs and board members will select ten of the best room descriptions, based on how each description fits with the Undermountain flavor (40%), originality (30%), and playability (30%). From these finalists, you, the player community, will vote on your favorite description. This winning entry will be edited and then published on the D&D website, commissioned at a flat rate of $140; the winner will also receive a copy of City of Splendors: Waterdeep."

"All entries must be received by Wizards no later than May 31, 2005. Limit one entry per person. Entries are the property of Wizards and will not be acknowledged or returned."

No thank you, saw one contest WotC ran and its results.

I was considering entering...what happened in the last contest that you are referring too?

The last one I remember was the open call that Kameron M. Franklin won. But that's not really a contest, per say.

Submissions become property of WotC even if you do not win, you lose all copyrights by making a submission or exceptional or strange offerings.

The last contest I referred to was the new campaign world that resulted in EB, the copyrights were forfitted by more then the winner.

As for if off topic, I do not think so. The call is what I am making a reply to and the call is for submission of many articles of which only one will be paid for at near (perhaps above market rate) but over all material will not be paid for. The "winner" might get 7 US cents per word the losers will get nothing at all except the lose of their ideas and words.

Apparently the contest is restricted to Americans only

There most likely is the same reason of not dealing with international law. There is precedent. WotC online store started out only maling sales in country, when asked about it an employee had replide that WotC was looking at going more international. I am not sure if they ever did and of course the online store was closed a while back so I can not see if they ever did international sales.

That's wierd. I entered the "Roll of Years" competition on the WotC message boards and won a credible 2nd prize (I was robbed!) and there was no problem or even issue with getting me my prize (a redundant copy of Players Guide to Faerun - anyone in Australia need a copy?). Oh well, there goes my great idea re the return of a scion of the Lords Magister.

Oooh! Now that that is a shame. I'd be interested in seeing that idea.
