Yeah, but he's not breaking from the Drizzt pantheon. It's not a Drizzt book, exactly, but it ties into the other Drizzt books and features characters intro'ed in Drizzt books. So it's practically a Drizzt book.
No, I think RAS would like to write about another section of the Realms, with all new characters, like he did with the Cleric Quintet. But WotC, know what sells, keeps saying "More Drizzt! NOW!" |

I can't provide the exact quotes, but some of the coments RAS had made about the Hunter's Blades trilogy and the upcoming Sellswords books almost made it sound as if he promised WOTC a Drizzt trilogy, so that he could do a few books that didn't feature Drizzt. He didn't say that exactly, and it may be my wild imagination, but a few of his comments certainly made it seem like the trilogy came first to "pay for" the Sellswords book.
But on the comics front . . . I am still getting this for my Step Son, not only to get him some kind of Realms reading experience (my step daughter went to the school library and found a copy of City of Ravens to read before she started raiding my books . . . must have needed independant verification of my taste, lol), but also hopefully the support will intice them to do some original comics in the Realms. Heck, maybe a few will actually not have drow in them . . . lol. |

Since Kuje closed my other thread, I wanted to pose my question again to you, the forum of sages.
What do you guys think of the artwork for the comics? I love it.. I thought the artist really did a great job in his concepts of Menzoberranzan and the characters themselves (Especially Vierna, who is the hottest Drow ever.. ok, maybe Danifae). Anyway, what do you guys think about it?

The first two issues are already out. I was really impressed with all of the artwork. Good concept on the Faceless One - really done quite well. I think the also touch on the best parts of the story as well.

Sorry,
Just didn't think we needed 2 of the same threads. :)
And to answer your question, the art looks smashing. I'm even going to grab the dlance ones. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Oh, no worries, Kuje... I totally understand. I didn't think to look for the comic discussion under this forum.. And yeah, the artwork does rock!
I think I'm going to pick up the DL ones as well... hope they do them justice as well.

I also decided to pick up the Dragonlance issues as well, all of the material put out by Devil's Due look to be very high quality. Whether you care for the subject matter or not, they seem to have good writing and excellent artwork. |
