There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

Perhaps they aim at some lore conserning Waterdeep. Can't remember what City/ empire had its hold there right now who's razed ruins lie at the site of Waterdeep. He have written other good lore though so I am just guessing here |

I checke with Erik and this is an unreliable source. It's something he has to write long in advance and contents often change long before they see print.
As for what he was referring to ... it's either something I've promised him but haven't finished, or an article I wrote a while back that got bumped out a ways.

Aelinthaldaar was largely on the surface. (See a bit about the Crypts of Aelinthaldaar in Lost Empires of Faerun for one piece that wasn't.) Melairbode was underground (what is now considered Undermountain).

And it was razed by High Magic, which neatly explains why there was no previous lore about it.
... Of course, it does raise the possibility of a nearby (outside Waterdeep, obviously) dungeon that was part of Aelinthaldaar, but distant enough to survive the razing spell. |

So, I managed to pick up this issue yesterday (3 weeks after I 'd picked up #334 in a different store 300 meters further down the same street ), and while it doesn't contain any Eric L Boyd-guided journeys, it does have a crunch-article (with enough "fluff," or lore as I prefer to call it, to make me interested) about Realms-specific religious relics.
However, there was a few things in the flavour-texts that bothered me, mostly this

During the Time of Troubles, Sune rescued Sharess, goddess of sensual fulfillment, from her darkly hedonistic passions and near subsumption by Shar. In their escape from the Dark Goddess' grasp, threads of Sune's hair fell to the Material Plane and formed into perfectly braided bands. ...
The thing that bothers me with this is that I was under the impression that the whole episode actually took place on the Material Plane (in the harem of the syl-pasha of Calimshan), whereas the highlighted text, to me at least, implies that it didn't.
And on a less Realms-related note - It's good to see I'm not alone in thinking Robin Hobb's novels are an excellent source of inspiration for role-playing adventures. Anyone thinking of running a campaign in which Iyraclea, "the Ice Queen," features would do well to read the final book of her Tawny Man-trilogy ,if they have the time - it's looong (but very good). |
