I'm not saying that's the only change (at least, I sure hope not!). Right now, the only question left unanswered is "Why did Lolth need to go incommunicado?". Obviously, none of the other Faerūnian deities shut themselves off when they pulled their planes out of the Great Ring. So, yes, Lolth is up to something else. She has changed in some form, a sort of re-birth (where's Lathandar?) and now Quenthal and Danifae have to play midwives. Hopefully not wet-nurses, too! But I think it is also safe to say they are Chosen as well.
Heck, for a moment there while reading, I thought that maybe she moved the Demonweb Pits to Baator and went Lawful Evil! Wouldn't THAT be a kick in the pants?! |

I like how that was worded. "Spider Queen, why did you go incommunicado?"

Well, she does have chaos as her portfolio and this event did cause chaos.

Thank you for a mental image that will stick with me until I get at least one full pot of coffee into my system.

Oh Corellon I hope not. Let one of them become the Face of Lolth, Oracle of Lolth, Lolth's Mary Kay Spokesperson, but not Chosen. |

Exactly my thoughts. I was so excited thinking, wow, good job on starting to promote this series. But, what do we get instead.... |

I believe I see....Pharaun on Dissolution, Quenthel and Jeggred on Insurrection, Nimor and the Chaulssin on Condemnation, Halisstra on Extinction and Ryld on Annihilation...who's on Ressurection? And here's hoping the Sixth book saves the series |

More than likely it is either Lolth herself (doubtful) or Danifae on Resurrection.
An while I thought Book V was good, others here are less than happy about it. |

I'll go with Melfius when it comes to who's depicted on the sixth cover. And yes, your listing is correct.

I'm very curious to see how Paul Kemp deals with certain characters. |

Has anyone new predictions/opinions since reading the sample chapter Paul Kemp posted in this thread?
Beware, spoilers follow from this sample chapter, hence the change to the topic's title.
It seems we have a three prong battle coming up in this tome with agents of Eilistraee and now Vhaeraun both rushing to stop Lolth's plans.
I was surprised to see Halisstra listed as one of the potentials for Yor'thae. Of the three that Vhaeraun showed, my money is still on Danifae. Although, if Lolth really wanted to shake things up, Phaeraun would be even more fun.
And if Vhaeraun is missing a hand now, Selvetarm should look even worse. I see now why mom always said to talk things out before resorting to violence. |

I have a feeling that Quenthel is not completely honest with her weak behaviour. Maybe, she is trying to bait Danifae to do something. Perhaps we do not completely understand what Lolth wants from her 'strongest' follower.
I am not too sure about Triel being replaced. She seems to be becoming progressively more powerful, confident, and wise in each book. Don't forget that she is still one level ahead of Quenthel and is known to be very smart. |

I'm not sure how the series will end now. Every time I consider something as a lock, I get a curve ball like the Halisstra development in the sample chapter posted.
Well, we all shall soon see how the series ends. Paul Kemp said that the book should start hitting the shelves yesterday and I already have seen one vendor listing it for sale via half.com. |

By the way, I seriously doubt Lolth will allow herself be replaced or merged with one of her followers. I hope my prediction is right about this one. |

Although the word "transform" is used in the sample chapter, I'm not sure we are looking at a merger or replacement. More I think it's Lolth's representation that is up for grabs with whatever change that will take place. |

Based on my interpretation to date, I think Lloth is undergoing a major restructuring. Detaching her plane from the Pits, abandoning her people at least twice, allowing a drow to become acceptbale to the surface dwellers (D'rizzt) all point to one thing. Lloth is stepping away from the evil, and is embracing the chaos.
It will be a short step, I think. She will still be "evil". But an evil that can tolerate some neutral, even good. Despite this, she'll be an enemy of the elves, still.
She is expanding the potential of the Drow, and improving their chances to long term survival prospects of her chosen people.
And Ryld will be resurrected. Hylisstra will make it a condition of cooperation. |

How about this?
(1) Lloth recreated herself as a young hermaphrodite child, the very representation of chaos and capriciousness? Or perhaps male & female twins?
(2) One of the group members become the new prophet, charged with reuniting the males and females drow.
(3) As her residence is no longer in the lower planes, her followers similarly loses some disadvantages when out on the surface world, but also loses some advantages in the Underdark. |

I've been looking at them more and more as metaphors and seeing how/if they correspond to events within the series. |

I too went back and re-read all my other books on this, and I think that what ever happens that Lloth is looking to change herself for a reason, prehaps she absorbed Kirianslee (sp) ?
Since I went through the WOSQ adventure and all I was wondering what peoples thoughts are if thats going to be anyway related, concidering they destroyed one of Lloth's cities, not quiet her oldest but close.
On another note, I am glad my drow from Chad Nasad was out of town when is dissolved O.o.
Also I think I would love to get my hands on those cosmetics where can I get them. Fredricks of Underdark? |

That drow bathing suit from Aurora's I'd imagine. :) |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Ah, but it's been stated again and again that Danifae is a real hottie. I can imagine her in something skimpy, posing provocatively, with that all-too-typical drow smile, full of mystery and menace. |

Not to mention Danifae likes to play both sides of the fence so to speak. |

Another plus, indeed. What's not to like about that girl (aside from the treachery)? |

Wasn't that what Sirius meant with saying she likes to play both sides of the fence? |
