I really wish they'd post all the updates at once... This one was not listed when I went to bed last night. |

Yep, like this one - but truly, for a non-gamer like myself, this series is low on the "wow" factor. However, I can see how DMs and players adventuring in the environs of Waterdeep would be lapping this stuff up. And quite rightly too.

Well, I've checked out the Dungeon Room Description Generator, and I'm not terribly impressed. While I like the descriptions, there is only 100 of them, downloadable in a separate pdf. I was expecting a true generator, one that would kick out random room shapes and features, and would populate those rooms with random stuff...
Which isn't to say this isn't handy. Indeed, I do think it will prove useful. It's just not what I was expecting. |

Have to agree with you on that Wooly. Its nothing like the random dungeon generator that was in the appendix of the 1st Edition DMG. |

Hehe...
I was just leaving for the library when I saw that the latest Waterdeep News had been uploaded. I forgot to check for the latest additions to the Undermountain series.

New room up, yesterday |

Funny thing is, if you look at how they group the content of Wizards' FR-site, it looks as if it was up before the latest Waterdeep News... |

Yeah well, all I have to say is: Where in the name of Sune's Sassy Smiling Sisters (a previously unknown monastic order of the Realms based in Elturel) is the Art Gallery for Champions of Valor?! *is beginning to get rather pouty on that matter* |

That said, I love books, so this room would be very tempting to me. Good thing I'll never have to set foot in it |

Who created the original maps of Undermoutain? (let's say level 1-3), it is Ed? |

I believe so, yes. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Ed did the ORIGINAL maps, yes. The PUBLISHED maps of Undermountain use Ed's originals around the "entry shaft" from the Yawning Portal (all those neat-looking little rooms), but quickly mate them to old maps, I believe by David C. Sutherland III, but definitely from a TSR staffer's Empire of the Petal Throne camapign (hence all the HUGE rooms). Ed and Steven Schend and then a lot of divers TSR hands fiddled with those EPT maps to break up some of the starship-hangar-sized chambers. :} Ed did (and does) have 9 levels and 12 sub-levels of original maps, but TSR only wanted a little bit of his uppermost level maps (and nott including the "really" uppermost bit inside Mount Waterdeep, either). love, THO |

Where is this crying smiley? Well, I guess it's not the first time we hear about a really weird behavior from TSR... We can always hope that a future (hinted by R. Baker) Undermoutain product will finally give us the maps of the uppermost part. |

With Wizards returning to adventures, the large expensive dungeon modules (Castle Zagyg, World's Largest Dungeon, revised Rappan Athuk) published by others, and the Dungeon of the Crypt seeing print, I think there's a chance we'll get an Undermountain book with all the main levels in the next few years. |
