Well, I guess if you're gonna twist my arm about it . . .
Luskan.
Only a lunatic would break *into* the filthiest, deadliest, worst city in the Realms.
But when the woman who gave him back his life is taken into that awful place, the man called Shadowbane will get her out.
Come plague, come demons, come treachery, he'll get her out . . .
Even if he has to kill every wretched son of a dog in that whole stinking city.

I said the same on Erik's Facebook page when he first announced the title and lead-in for it. It has a suitable "big-budget epic film" quality to it. |

Oh, you're so tempting me to cast the entire list of characters from the film using only the most prominent NPCs of Waterdeep. |

Alan Rickman as Khelben Arunsun? Dude, SOLD!
It's a shame George Carlin is no longer around, because that man was born to play Elminster.

Alan Rickman as Khelben would be awesome! Of course, I'd also like to see him as either Sememmon or Manshoon. I've seen Rickman play a good guy, but I love him as a villain.
Don't forget to find a role for the guy that played Dante. Even if was a bit part, he was in all the Jay & Silent Bob flicks. |

I think Sean Connery would be awesome, but he's probably too over-used for fantasy (he was a dragon, after all).
That guy who played Gandalf - he had a bit of a 'lecherous grin' - but that, too, would be derivitive. Besides, he might make a better Szass Tam (think pre-Lich and Magneto)
How about John Cleese? Strange choice, I know, but I think it would work. Nicol Williamson (the guy who played Merlin in Excalibur) is still alive, and Ed has described Elminster as being very much like that character. He hasn't done anything since 1997 though, and there might be some health issues there.
I used to think Johnny Depp would make a great Drizzt, but the more I think about his Pirate costume, the more I'm seeing him as Jarlaxle.
Although Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) actually had the right hat.
Sam Eliott is probably too old, but he's got the Moustache to play Fzoul.

He's not been in any Kevin Smith flicks, but since he was brought up in another thread, I think we need to find a role for Hugh Jackman. |

In terms of appearance, I'd think he'd make a passable Artus Cimber. Or maybe Fyodor. Or, better yet, Giogi Wyvernspur! |

No, no, no... I've got David Tennant [the Tenth Doctor of BBC's Doctor Who] pegged as Danilo Thann. He's got the looks and personality for it. |

Oh gods, what have I done?
Evangeline Lilly as Arilyn Moonblade!
(There, I said it!)
Oh, and regarding Jay and Silent Bob:
Shannon Elizabeth, Eliza Dushku, and Ali Larter are totally three of the Seven Sisters. (Storm, the Simbul, and Alustriel respectively?)
Oh and Sean William Scott as Torm.

By the way, did you see THIS?
And I can definitely see Ms. Lilly as Arilyn.
Now, we know Cate Blanchett HAS to be one of the Seven Sisters. Question is, which one? Laeral? Alustriel? Syluné?
Here's my ideal for the Seven:
Syluné - Zooey Deschanel Alustriel - Cate Blanchett Dove - Keira Knightley Storm - Scarlett Johannson Laeral - Bryce Dallas Howard The Simbul - Kate Beckinsale Qilué - Zoe Saldana

Well sure, if you're going to expand your palette of actors *beyond* Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back.
(I do really like your list, however. Zooey as Sylune is brilliant--she's just so odd, exactly like a ghost!)
Seriously--I've started a casting thread, haven't I?

If you are going to do the seven sisters, then Jessica Alba for Dove Falconhand.
Hugh Jackman... I was thinking Artemis Antreri, but that guy from lost - Naveen Andrews (played Sayid) I think has the right 'Calimshan' look about him. I can see Jackman playing lots of diferent roles in the Realms.
And since we mentioned 2 X-men actors, AND the seven sisters... Halle Berry as Qilue' Veladorn.
If you use Doctor Who actors they might accidentally refer to the Illithids as Ood.
Hmmm... now I think I might like Vin Diesal as Artemis Entreri... and that guy that played the half-dead Necromunger Emperor for Telamont.
Edit: Liv Tyler as Amlurial - she makes a SMOKIN' HOT Elf. |
