I ment PC&NPC, it seems strange, there suposet to e travlers looking for stuff to concour. may its thet they work in secret, I THINK THERE SHOULD BE MORE, MORE RED WIZARDS, MORE RED WIZARDS. do you think they allow Dwarves to join the order of the red?

Well dwarves wouldn't make the best mages (lol) So I doubt they'd gain much status as a red wizard but maybe as servants (yes I know it annoys me too:P) But if a dwarf can become a druid I can't see why not! Hey have you gotten Icewindale 2 yet? I'm eager to get my hands on it and wanted to see if anyone has played it yet

I haven't got it yet, but look in forgotten relmes computer software theres a comment box on it.

back to the original subject, in NWN Dwarves can be mages,I had a l 27 dwarf mage, pretty impresive I hear you say, INT 23, WIS 23, CHA 21. and to top the lot, STR 27.anyway dwarves would never serve the tall ones.

Maybe that's because they're the worst servants of all. No one wants a dwarf to be his servant cause he/she knows it'll (I prefer to refer to a dwarf as it, since I see it as a beast/monster)mess everything up.

Nothing is impossible!

The Dwarves could do no worse then any idiotic mages(except the red wizards) constantly performind failed experements, blowing stuff up causing averlances. It is luckey the red is here or all magic would be lost. The Dwarves are more careful than any Elf, it takes precision work perfectly carried out to build a fortress like Dorns Deep or the Blood shours.

What "failed experiments" are these you refer to King-Tiax?

Surely you can't mean the Mythal, produced by the Elves at Myth Drannor[1] or Undermountain (produced magically by Halaster)[2]. Halaster even went so far as to produce a link to living accommodation on an asteroid[3].

I have yet to see any form of construction performed by the stunties to equal this. OK, Dwarves are good at what they do but anyone can dig a hole

I was reffering to those Dark magic experments, the ones that involve Golums And the loss of valuable property.

So if it takes half a brain to dig a hole what is left for the Elves and mortals.

Which dark magic experiments?

I'm sure someone using magic and succeeding in creating a golem doesn't consider it a failure.

I find it very strange that you support for love of Dwarves by citing man's "dark magic experiments" and yet you claim a liking for Thay and the Red Wizards. Thayvian wizards don't use dark magic then?

As for your final question "So if it takes half a brain to dig a hole what is left for the Elves and mortals". Since Elves and most mortals have more than half a brain, I should imagine everything else is left

The Red use there magic to great affect, they will cover the world, the red are preparing to seige Saradush, it will fall, the land will be covered not in darkness but in light, RED lIGHT. the rivers will run red but not with blood, snow will fall red. The fate of faerun stands on a thread, and it is the mearest of threads.

Megalomania anyone?

I must say the new tatctic the Red Wizards are useing with their trade-enclaves might prove to be very fruitful to what they have been trying to achieve.

The artbitrary thing from the designers is that in no-time (within 2-3 years or so) these enclaves have sprung up. Given the distance between some enclaves and Thay proper, that's an amazing achievment. Even McDonalds couldn't do it that fast. .

This new development does quite some damage to what the Black Network has been trying to do. All of a sudden they have a competitor with a more legal status then the Zhentarim have. Given Fzouls expansion in the Moonsea area, it doesn't seem to bother him that much, yet once his conquest is complete he'll find that his organization will have lost ground.

And as to megalomania... whenever has that lasted for a significant period of time...

I know what you mean, I do believe they had a bit of trouble in Baulders Gate, they were attacked by the Black Tallon or somthing, I'll look it out for you if you want.

Tiax, if you are interested in learning more about the Red Wizards, there is a 2nd edition boxed set: Spellbound: Thay, Rasheman, & Aglarond. (Maybe you own the product and this message is a bit obsolete...) The boxed set details the lands pretty well and describes in fair detail some of the society and history of the Red Wizards. Of course being 2nd edition, it is not really up to date with the current politics of the Red Wizards, yet it is a good piece of source material.

The reason (in 2nd edition at least) that dwarves and halflings could'nt be wizards is because of there resistance to it, it somehow prevented them from accessing spells.

Yes, but in later games Dwarves can reach low levles of magic as well as the usural Rune magic.
