Does anyone know where I can download any of the music from the Baldur's Gate series, Icewind Dale series and/or Neverwinter Nights? I've found nothing but some irritating "remixes" of the BG theme. I would appreciate any help whatsoever, as I plan on using these wonderfully orchestrated pieces for my upcoming (first ever!) Forgotten Realms game.
Thanks in Advance.

I don't know about that, but have you tried the D&D "soundtrack" CD from Midnight Syndicate? It's a pretty good background collection.
There's also a scroll around here somewhere where we discussed music a while back . . . ah, here it is. 'Ware the dust. |

There is actually a way to "extract" the music from the acm files found in the sound folders. (BG, IWD etc) Using a small progam called acm2wav thus you gain the music from the games for free. I think Neverwinter Nights uses mp3 files in which case you would be, mind you I am not sure since it was a while since I played the game or used Aurora, able to get them out of the game somehow through Aurora. |

acm2wav? Is this a complex tool to use? I'm afraid I'm not the best when it comes to computers. |

Well not really, all though I guess that depends on your skill level. But to put it simply you put the file you want to convert (for xmpl the mainthem.acm) and the acm2wav program in the same folder. You fire up dos prompt (if you are using XP that is) and then, after pointing it to the right folder (you can solve this easy by just putting the two files in the user map found in the Documents and Settings folder on the harddrive) Then you write the following in the DOS prompt window.
acm2wav mainthem.acm and then you press enter.
Voila the pogram creates a wave file of the mainthem.acm file. I think the program comes with a readme file as well. I can't remember where I found, ah wait , here it is http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/index_misc.php see bottom of the page. |

After much searching, I found them all on a single website, along with the music for all Infinity Engine games. Thanks for all the help with all the help here nontheless. |

You're right, but there's no need to use the toolset. Just go to your NWN\music folder, make copies of the .bmu files you want and simply change their extension to ".mp3". Much better than downloading them all Relatively poor quality mind you, 22kHz/64 kbps
Also, I know for a fact that amongst other soundtracks Interplay made all of Jeremy Soule's fine music from Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance, and certainly some of the music from Icewind Dale et al freely available to download in mp3 format from their website. I believe the company has since fallen on hard times and the site is no longer there however |
