It can be a factor of four things (in order from most likely to least): Processor speed, RAM, Video RAM, and Hard Drive Speed.
I currently run a P4 3.2GHz, 2GB RAM, 256MB 8x AGP Video Card, and an 80GB 10k RPM Hard Drive and do not have any lag issues.
Use that as a benchmark and gauge from there. |

Some system specifications would help a lot. :) |

In your case, I would begin by adding about 512MB additional RAM. 1GB is REALLY good for games. The processor is fine. |

Graphical options, what do you have? If you turn anti-alising, pretty water and animated grass all the way up, it'll definitely slow down. I have a P4 3.8GHz, 512 RAM, GeForce FX 5900 (128 MB); I can play the game with graphical options turned fairly high and suffer no lag. |

I only lag in 2 parts of NwN. Ones in expansion SoU where theres all these gates that vanish and appear. And the other was in HoU at the end battle sequence.
But if playing Online, i can lag alot, factors are numbers playing, distance to server, and normal isp connection problems.
I played on a Pentium 1.0 xp 1Gb Ram. |

Yes turning down those graphic options will definately help. If you run antivirus software, might want to close it while you're playing. Antivirus software has a tendency to actively check all files you run, last thing you want in content heavy games if that.
What kind of video card do you have?

You have a good system there. NWN should run sweety!
Hmm. Ok, I know what question I didn't ask.
What resolution are you running at? High resolutions tend to slow down RPGs. I wouldn't go higher then 1024x786. So if you are, might want to try that before killing all your extra graphics settings. :)
Also, make sure your desktop resolution is the same as your game resolution. I know it seems small, but it helps. |
