Hello, fellow scribes. Ed released to me the following additional tidbits about the contents of this tome: 1. One or more of the Seven appear in at least 6 tales, and in one of them you'll see all of them doing battle in the same chamber. 2. The deity-appearance-count is up to at least three, and some of the guesses already posted in this thread are partially correct. 3. The Realms of Infamy story asked about will almost certainly be found in the pages of the published book. 4. The cover made available (and commented on) earlier is very close to, or identical to, the final cover.
There you have it, thus far. love to all, THO
P.S. All I had to do this time to persuade Ed to impart these teases was to waltz with him in my new gown. Outdoors, in the snow. Ah, men are but melting chocolate sauce in my er, hands... |

Alaundo, I fear Ed has still not received permission to unveil the Table of Contents for this book, but I can confirm that it holds 15 tales. Some of the stories will be familiar to those who’ve read the various elder “Realms of” anthologies, but 3 have never before been seen by anyone, 2 have only ever been seen before by literally a handful of people, AND 1 has been seen before only in a much shorter form. love, THO

As it happens, I was posting whilst wearing nothing but my wristwatch, a black ribbon choker, a pair of stiletto heels, and a smile. However, I bow to the "skimpier" requests of two so beloved people, and accordingly I have now taken off my wristwatch.

Nay, SirUrza: unless you're one of five people (aside from Ed and me), three of those being editors or agents and only TWO being lucky Realms fans, you can increase that total from three to five. love, THO |

I must appologize, I was quite flustered and nearly forgot my query . . . is there any chance that we might see Khelbun show up in any of the new stories. I really am interested in seeing Ed characterization of him after growing so fond of Elaine Cunninghams portrayal of my favorite Chosen (at least in temperment . . . his mate Laeral cuts a much more striking figure than he does, no offence intended). |

Ah, KnightErrantJR, but a paladin should keep his holy sword slaked, supple, and bright! Ahem, enough teasing. . . . I can say that you’ll see both Khelben and Laeral (and Blackstaff Tower, and some apprentices, too) BRIEFLY in Ed and Elaine’s forthcoming Waterdeep novel, CITY OF SPLENDORS, due late this year. By briefly, I mean a few scenes that are basically concerned with “explaining them out of the story.” I can also say that there are Other Plans Afoot for Khelben. NDAs prevent me from saying any more than that, other that to say that this matter has been strongly hinted at, here at Candlekeep, in the past. So, if whatever gods there be smile in all the right places, we may all be very pleased with more revelations about Khelben in the years ahead. And you just MIGHT see a glimpse of Khelben in Ed’s Knights of Myth Drannor trilogy, before it’s done, too . . . love, THO

Ah, THO, you have made my day in many ways today. I am such a fan of Khelbun and I was already looking forward to the Waterdeep novel, even if he only turns out the lights in the tower to go on vacation (my player's had such a love/hate relationship with Khelbun when I was running a Waterdeep campaign).
I must admit I love Elaine Cunningham's work, and the fact that THE man Ed has said that Elaine envisions the Realms and his characters very much as he does is a rousing endorsement to me. I must say, even before I read that Ed thought Elaine was in line with his characterization, I thought that Elaine had stolen my old campaign notes when it came to how Khelbun (and Elaith) operated. |

I have a question for the Lady Wearing No Wristwatch to ask Ed: are any of the stories in this collection directly tied to Ed and Elaine's Waterdeep novel? Thanks! |

And I, too, have a question for The Hooded One. I've read all the hints and teases herein, but . . . have you any more to impart, dear Lady? If we wheedle VERY nicely? |

No, Blueblade, no story in the Best of Eddie book is directly tied to City of Splendors - - or so saith Ed, who should know. And I took my Wristwatch off again to type this, just for you. |

Eh, pardon me, The Hooded One, what is that book name which you are so interested in? |
We have fostered trust, recruited loyalty, and gathered the faithful. We have trained thousands. Our legions can cover the land, fill the sky and travel through the darkness. We can hunt any and all that would deny our heritage. Now is our time, now is the time of the Dark Reign(Rain) of the Empire of Shadows. - High Prince Telemont Tanthul, Lord Shadow In a speech given to the citizens of Shade Enclave At the celebration of the Shinantra Battle victory when he revealed that he was THE Lord Shadow of legend. |

At last year’s Gencon, I happened to be standing in a hallway in the Marriott when a gamer asked Ed Greenwood what a Red Wizard’s home might look like. Ed launched into a ten-minute description of what I recall as a sort of dusty castle atop a steep hill, surrounded by concentric lower tiers of walled compounds. He had names for the furniture, details details details, and it all sounded great. Then he said he was thinking of using it as the setting for a short story set in the Realms. He’d planned a series for DRAGON that never got off the ground because the editor he made the deal for it with left the magazine, that “started in a Red Wizard’s citadel.” So my question for the lovely Lady Hooded, if she can worm an answer out of Ed in her usual effective fashion, is: did Ed ever write this story, and will we see it in this Best of Ed Greenwood collection?

There's currently (page 32) much discussion in the Questions for Ed Greenwood (2005) thread about Alusair, and a story has been mentioned that's in this forthcoming Ed Greenwood short story collection. So, THO, tell us more, if you can. I'm all ears (ahem, none of your teasing comments about that ). Or anything else you can share . . . |

There's not much more I dare say at the moment, other than that the tale, "The Long Road Home," is set in the aftermath of the death of Azoun IV, primarily in an inn in upland Cormyr, and that we'll see Alusair, Glarasteer Rhauligan, and many hitherto-unknown locals. It's a taste of what glimpses the common folk of Cormyr get of the Steel Regent, and reveals much more of Alusair's character. love to all, THO |
