Actually I would like to live in Silverymoon, but I would be travel to Fireshear or Ironmaster. Imagine what the sunsets would be like in Silverymoon!

Listen to the silence of the wilds, in there lies the wisdom of ages.

Myth Drannor.
Nobody said when. Perhaps this is the once and future coolest city in the Realms.

Bhaulaea is the coolest city in the Realms, bar none!

Tsk. Tsk. Serpent Kingdoms. (When will someone convince Wizards that indices are necessary in books?!) It's the city in the High Ice which can presumably only be accessed by a portal. The one which leads into the city is not, alas, the one which leads out of the city, so be careful what you step through in wormy old ruins, because a portal in one of them leads to this city inside a glacier -- can't get any cooler than that without Auril's help, I reckon!

Bhaulaea was briefly referenced in Anauroch as well. Though SK expands on those initial details...

How do supposedly cold-blooded serpent creatures thrive inside a glacier? Hmm, maybe I'll read that bit in Serpent Kingdoms...

Come on, dear. They use magic. :)

For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

It depends on what you want. I like the Northern cities like Everlund, Silverymoon but also Mirabar & Luskan.

At the moment my number one place is Everlund. On the outside it's a peaceful city but as a DM I made it a place where real evil waits in the shadow. A threat that even the citizens don't espect that exist. It gave my players the feeling of a perfect town where the people lives in harmony but where dark forces are looking to you from the sewers, dark alleys, etc.

Some didn't. Apparently in the center of the city there's a group of frozen yuan-ti and their diano ... dino ... dy ... riding beasts.

I guess they didn't have the magic they needed.

I don't think I can consider any city or town in Faerun to be the "coolest".

There are definitely places in the Realms that I like to read about, or perhaps run an adventure in sometime.

I think I'd want one of those out of the place locales in the Realms . . . somewhere that doesn't have a great deal of Realmslore written about it. At one time, I would have said somewhere in the Border Kingdoms. Though Ed Greenwood is keeping most of the Sage's FR dreams come to life for that.

I think it would come down to some place in either Chult, the Shaar, or somewhere in Erlkazar.

You're right on the mark there. My dreams are always about the Border Kingdoms. Yup!

Oooh! Erlkazar... I like that.

I know you haven't read Master of Chains yet, so I would suggest you do so fairly soon. Since it is the featured setting of the novel, you may find there are parts of Erlkazar that you'll find more interesting due to their exposure in the story.

Plus, Master of Chains was a decent read

When hinges creak in doorless chambers and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls, whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight.

Yes, it was--very character-driven.

Zhentil Keep, closely followed by Mulmaster..

Scratch below the surface just a little and you'll find multi-level intrigue and adventure aplenty.. if you can survive long enough to experience it..
