Excellant series! I hear the author has cancer, though. Wouldn't it suck if he died before he finished the series? |

Calimport, I say calimport for me. The intrigue, the struggle for survival and the gritty dirty feel of it.
Secomber is also a farvorite of mine(for the smaller settlement choice) ;) |

Wow, now this is an old thread!
My fave city in the Realms, the one I consider "coolest" would obviously be Waterdeep. |

Okay i am saying Zhentilkeep, Carrick you say "Mulmaster is the best, coolest, wickedest, rulest, city in all of fearun (heck even beyond)". here in Zhentilkeep all the nobels houses and stores are in the middel of the city, and the nobels has a dust black wall soroundend this are. beond thies walls we have the pessent araer.
At night we have walking undead Lich and so one, and other kreapy things, remember to lock u“ dore.
THE BEST, coolest, wickedest, rulest, city in all of fearun is ZHENTILKEP
Celebrant Moonflower you say the biggest Golem in Faerun! is in waterdeep, it isent true, there was one much larger. Once a renegade red wizard made a Golem, he was in it“s head and controeld it, EL came and "smashed" it. It was enormus not just Big G. |

For me, I guess it's because everything is possible there. A DM has most every environment at his fingertips (Classic City, Nobles estates, slums, Docks, Water locales, Super huge Dungeon underneath, wicked Evil city underneath, etc...). There is really no limit to what can happen or be done there. Anything can be bought, every sensation explored, the works.
Also because it was the first place I started playing in, when I became a player...the DM did a fantastic job with it, and it stuck. |

Why? It's a big, well-populated city of law-abiding and tolerant folk. It's one of the biggest cities in the Realms, and it's one where you can find just about anything. The city has reasonable laws that most folks adhere to, and a rather unique form of government.
I wasn't really that much of a Realms junkie, until I got Volo's Guide to Waterdeep. That book made the City of Splendors come alive for me, and pulled me further into the Realms. |

Neverwinter. Its nice and warm plus there's cool clocks and lanterns. And how can you diss a group of mages called the Many Starred Cloak? |
When hinges creak in doorless chambers and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls, whenever candlelights flicker where the air is deathly still, that is the time when ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight. |

because you can find and do almost anything, in, on , around, and beneath the city of splendors. If you have not checked out Waterdeep, I highly advise you to do so. The city has more flavor than just about anywhere else in the realms. Additionally, I have very many fond memories of successful and not successful adventures here
Question: does Vand Dybet translate straight across, to waterdeep? |

Well Waterdeep can be said to be a my favorite city when it comes to reading about the Realms. In gaming I will have to say that Arabel and Iriabor are my favorites as a DM.
The more I think of it, the harder it becomes to decide between the cities and towns detailed in the Forgotten Realms Adventures book, but Arabel and Iriabor seems to be the closest things to favorites I can think of. |

I have had much fun out of Ravens Bluff... It is described in detail and is small enough to manage without spending years studying miles of scrolls. "Nightwatch in the Living City" is a highly recommendable small scale adventure set in RB. Good for creating new branches of adventures. |

That's a tricky question. I've always loved Waterdeep for its cosmopolitan nature. |
Life is either daring adventure or nothing. |

There are so many cities I'd like to visit. Some only if I'd be of the privileged class.
Zhentil Keep because it's a dark and evil place.
Waterdeep because it's big, diversified and ...well it's Waterdeep.
Bezantur, Scornubel, Silverymoon, Elversult and Calimport sound interesting to me.
Choosing only one, I would pick Waterdeep. |

Maybe so many of us pick Waterdeep as their favorite city/town in the realms because it simply IS the coolest place to be.......
....or because it is the town that is best detailed of all towns and cities and places in all sourcebooks combined. I have heard so much more about Waterdeep and read so many fabulous stories that take place in this grande city, that confronted with such a question I can only do one thing: pick the place I love for the many more details I know about it - Waterdeep.

Does anybody remember what Wondass is?... Or was back in 2002? Just curious after reading this ancient scroll... As for the coolest city in the Realms, Silverymoon! Or soon, Myth Drannor. |

Well Is Evereska still alive, shhh no spoilers, I just started the archmages however as far as see Evereska is the city I would love to live in.
but ż dont care about the fair folk too much, so my second choice would be wateredeep or silverymoon.
But thinking a little back in time Nethril s flying cities are the coolest. Yeah, of course Karsus and phaerimms should be locked away. too dangerous. |
