Well I'm sure every race has it own good and bad points. I personally love the Drow. My love for this race started when I began to read the novels of Salvatoré (Homeland, exile, sojourn etc ...)
At the moment I play a forgotten Realms/Night below campaign as a 5'th level Paladin of Tyr. His name is Rudolf Weathermay ...
We play this campaign for mor than a year now and we gonna take a break. Because we wished to play for one time with an evil group we gonna play a mini campaign as drow raiders. And I assure you ... our DM is great :) |

I'm a elf person. So im going to have to go with the Elves and Drow. Personaly if it had to come down to one it would have to be the Drow. There kindof dark and more agressive. |

Whats wrong with the Great Drittz...he seems like a true Drittz fanatic..unless thats the only character he likes. Im sure there are others out there that are just as good. I wouldnt know because I just recently started reading FR. But if we have to take sides then Im sided with ya king-tiax. |

Thats ok Tiax, I dont really like you very much either, but all that aside we came here to talk about FR, not bitch at each other, but I do however think that it is funny, that you chose a picture of bruenor battlehammer, one of Drizzt's closest friends, not one of the other billion dwarf pics out there, maybe you do have some taste after all. The Great Drizzt
P.S.- Drizzt is not the only character I like, I just like him cause hes really the only famous drow I can read about. |

If you really think about it, dwellers of the Underdark have a serious advantage over surface dwellers: they aren't blind in total darkness. No torches necessary. Now if you compound that ability and intimate knowledge of the perilous underdark with fierce brute force, then you will find your best race. The way I see it, deep dwarves are the most dangerous of the common population in the underdark. Of course I speak of strength in numbers, not individual superiority. |

True, but that only applies to low-light conditions (i.e. a moonlit night or a candle in a dark hallway). I'm talking about darkvision in no light at all. This is the difference between the two types of vision. |

I wouldn't expect a city to be in pitch black dark, of course. But it's not in the city that darkvision is most useful. It's when you're traveling a causeway in the underdark and a sudden foul breeze blows out your torch that you need it. It's also useful for approaching enemies without broadcasting your current position like a light does. Just food for thought... |

When you say "you're" do you mean just me, or a group of people, because it would be stupid to travel alone in the underdark. The Great Drizzt |

In these times of the world, It would be stupid to travle anywhere alone.
yes I see what you mean, But lets face it, If a party of Dwarves were comming down a narrow passageway, you would hear them. |

Drizzt: Of course I mean a group. I'm not suicidal, neh?
Tiax:I see what you mean. Dwarves may be tough, but they are not best known for their stealth skills. Hehe. |

I'm surprised no one has mentioned that dragons are just about the top of the food chain when it comes to individual strength among the races. These beings embody power AND intelligence. That alone can be a deadly combo, not to mention their magical capabilities. I rest easier at night knowing that they are solitary creatures.
(Obviously they should never be PC's) |

True, Dragons rule, but what about Tan'ari's? could they whoop a dragon? maybe a Balor, I dont know, but what about Tarasaque(however you spell that) and actually, I'm on the top of the food chain(j/k) The Great Drizzt |

Dragons are indeed one of the creatures that make up the top of the food chain. In a time long gone by, before the elves arrived on Toril (see Elaine Cunnigham's novel: Elves of Evermeet), the dragons ruled the world more or less. Their major opponents were the various Giants. Both Dragons and Giants ahve been on the decline ever since. Replaced by a dominance of elves which in turn became replaced by a dominance of humans. A good analogy of this history is reflected in the history of Cormyr (see: Cormyr, a Novel by Ed Greenwood) |

If my memory serves right, dragons are descendants of one of the four so-called creator races. So they have been more or less always part of Faerun. I think there's references to the creator races in the Realms FAQ. |
