Everyone has made their way into the city. The story starts after this. Some of the characters just arrived while others have been there days or even weeks. I'll e-mail you Sarelle. |

Drontar and Kaladorm's History
In 1312, Year of the Griffon, Barnaldar and Dorna Thunderaxe were blessed with the birth of their twin sons, Drontar and Kaladorm. As with all twins born after the Thunder Blessing, the bond shared between them was close and both shared a passion for history, tradition and knowledge. With their coming of age, both aimed to enter the Lorekeepers, the Great Rift’s prestigious bastion of knowledge. Kaladorm passed the tests successfully and was accepted into the order. For Drontar, however, rejection was a bitter pill to swallow. With no sense of purpose any more, Drontar was lost. Kaladorm tried to help by allowing Drontar to read the Lorekeepers’ books anyway but it did not help, he was merely clinging to the threads of a shattered dream. Ashamed, Drontar signed up for the guard, in order to avoid his family but his mind was elsewhere and he was rested from duty. Dorna Thunderaxe, a priestess of Moradin took him into her temple to try and help him find his way again. Kaladorm, meanwhile, was flourishing inside the order and had started to gain a small amount of recognition for his skill with the horn. Under the temple’s care, Drontar found himself and pledged his axe to Moradin, promising to hold up the highest standards. He was welcomed back into the guard and soon found himself promoted to the Skyguard while Kaladorm continued to excel in the Order. Drontar too, was successful, and though he was very happy for his twin, it took time for his wounds to heal completely. His own feelings of shame and resentment for the way he had acted had not helped matters. These issues were brought back to the forefront again, five years after they had been resolved. A small diplomatic envoy was being selected to travel all the way to the Silver Marches, far in the North. Kaladorm, popular amongst the Lorekeepers and with a small following for his musical talent, put himself forward. Drontar, who had lived with more humility in this period, did not intend to go but was persuaded by his twin to put himself forward for the mission. To nobody’s real surprise, despite the quality of the competition, Kaladorm was selected to join the envoy as the official record keeper. Drontar’s surprise at being chosen was real, he convinced himself that he had only been selected because of his twin. Memories came flooding back to him and although he had his doubts about the reasons for his selection, he agreed to go, determined to stand alone by his own merits. The long journey north passed and the envoy assembled in Citadel Adbar. Diplomatic talks between the gold dwarves and their northern cousins about the creation of a portal between the two kingdoms got underway. A few months later, talks had been completed and messages were sent back to the Great Rift. Drontar wanted to set out on his own in order to prove himself and was shocked to discover Kaladorm wished to accompany him instead of returning home. Initially reluctant to let his twin come along and overshadow him, Drontar was secretly very glad of the company of one who knew him so well. The two of them departed Adbar, heading for Silverymoon, the Gem of the North but had no sooner set foot in Sundabar when the church of Moradin requested their presence.

This is the full history of Dale and Darube Frostbeard.
Characters:
Darube and Dale are alike as it is possible for Dwarves to be. Notwithstanding the fact that most other races think all Dwarves look alike, Darube and Dale have often impersonated each other. Those taking a closer look, and applying clinical minds to the task would notice that Dale's hair is a few shades lighter and more borderline white compared to Darube's slightly more yellow hair. In physical senses, Dale is slightly lighter than his twin brother, being more inclined to feats of the mind, and dexterous use of his fingers.
Dale has always been the more accomplished thinker of the two, the brain to Darube's Pinky (can I say that?). History has shown Dale to be the planner while Darube, being possessed of a permanent cheery disposition, is relegated to the role of executioner. This has often landed them rather complicated messes from which Dale has had to creatively spring them. On the other hand, Darube has always displayed a lot more wisdom than his impetuous brother, and has forged a much closer link with their chosen deity Moradin. Dale is a notoriously hard Dwarf to get along with peacably, being sultry and prone to fits of sullenness and extreme introversion. His only companion in thought is his brother Darube. Darube on the other hand is a hearty and boisterous character, who despite his attempts to not shine a spotlight on his brother, finds himself often in large company, and well liked to boot. He always runs his idea by his brother before acting though, getting the seal of approval from the person who he is constantly reminded, is his older brother.
History:
Neither Darube nor Dale know exactly where it is they originated from. Being possessed of interminably curious natures, both of them spent most of their youth (a rather prolonged time for a Dwarf) travelling and exploring, instead of more studious persuits. Their first waking memory - besides of course with numerous run-ins with the law - is of them being taken out my a number of hooded Dwarves and plonked down in a region they came to know as the Spine of the World.
It was here that they travelled to the towns of repute in Icewind Dale and made many friends, at least by their estimation. Friends who later betrayed the brothers by suggesting that another region may be better suited to their particular personalities. It was with after this request that the brothers made their way to the settlement they had gathered information on. The settlement was apparently inhabited by their kinsmen (for all Dwarves are kin they thought) and was located near to the region famous for housing the town of Silverymoon. Their kinsman, at the time, had relatives from the twin's homeland and had heard rumours of their exploits and the effects they had on community's morale. It was with this in mind, that the kindly leaders of the settlement had a contest of intelligence and wisdom. The twins still laugh together remembering how poorly the other contestants fared, and how Dale had won the test of wisdom by correctly picking the cup that was covering the walnut, and how Darube had won the intelligence contest by correctly identifying a spell scroll amongst other parchments. Carrying their 'key to the city' the twins made their way to Silverymoon as the new ambassadors for the settlement.
It was under this new banner of employment that the twins arrived in Silverymoon and delivered their 'declaration of peace' to the authorities in Silverymoon. The note, which they believed was just that, a declaration of peace, was in fact a note begging the local authorities to as kindly as possible, detain the twins while the settlement hastily relocated to a position some miles away. Blissfully unaware, the twins amalgemated themselves into the hum of everyday Silverymoon life, and as can be imagined, became instant celebrities. It was during this time that Dale reached a peak in his rogue skills, using the bones of rats they had eaten in prison to pick the locks and escape ("A great game brother" he wold often comment). Owing to Darube's affinity with nature, or "Ol tha' Green Stuffs" as Dale would say, their abode was fixed firmly in the surrounding trees, a habitation the local authorities were most pleased they stuck to.
During their time in Silverymoon, a place they both enjoyed, the local townsfolk were constantly trying to devise ways in which to fool the dwarves into leaving. Despite their less than mage-like intelligence, the dwarves were remarkably stubborn and had grown to love Silverymoon in their own way, and this more than anything convinced the leader of Silverymoon - who needs no introduction - that the two would indeed find a home there as many other outcasts had. The two would spend days on end, sprawled out on the grass along the town's many paths watching passers by and commenting on them. Darube swears to this day that he even saw the Lady Alustriel once, although all attempts for further information gathering are greeted by a blank and giddy expression.
Dwarves are not always noted as being hardy travellers, delighting on voyages of the road, and years spent out in the open. It so happened however, that a band of merry travelling dwarves were to pass the dwarves by. A spirit of exploration and longing for their kin filled the two, and over the course of the following two years, the two decided to move out and find a similar band of merry dwarves with whom they could travel, and 'Do all tha' aventurin' with. A nearby guard, hearing the two, advised them to seek out their fortunes in Sundabar - a place he informed them was positively teeming with travelling dwarves. The guard actually had no idea where or what Sundabar was, but the townsfolk hold him in great reverence nonetheless.
The journey that brought the twins from Silverymoon to Sundabar was in truth a lot less frought with danger, dragons or mad wizards than their stories let on. The journey did take a while, and so it is that only now, did the two arrive in the city of Sundabar, looking for dwarves, looking for adventure, and wondering absent mindedly why the sun was shining to brightly here, and if it would permanently damage their skin. |

As you can guess I copied MaudDib/WoodElf's layout, another mistake I'm definitely not immune to cold :D Sarelle I tried editing it but noticed I don't have the option, do I need to have reached a certain 'star' rating or post count to be able to do it?
P.s. How's the next installment coming along Hammer? I'm all excited :) I'd send an email round with my character introducing himself but everyone knows about it anyway so aside from the roleplay will just wear out my fingers. |

No, not at all. You can only edit your own posts, and only when you are logged on in the correct username, as Arivia pointed out. Hmmm.... Be sure that you are clicking on the 'Edit Reply' icon ABOVE your post. Otherwise I'm stumped. |

Thanks hammer! Interesting stuff.
I hate to keep asking you this, but any updates on how we fit Guaygrek into this? As I've said, if there isn't any chance of working things through separately I'll be more than happy to work it out myself, and I can post it here or in Guaygrek's own thread. I just need to know. |

I thought I sent you a few ideas? He may have slipped in with a group of merchants. If you want, he could have been outside the city walls, and then been summoned as were the others. With his "invitation" from the cleric he would gain entrance into the city. Come up with something and let me see it, but as long as it doesn't involve direct conflict with the city authorities it should be good. |

Heehee Beorunna's Well. We very recently visited there in our P&P adventure. Had to escort a caravan and find the source of the ambushes. Reefy was inside the caravan when it got knocked over by a boulder from a hill giant. Then failed his jump check to jump off it onto the ground and hurt himself. haha happy days. Never did catch that wizard, was funny running about with a load of Uthgardt though, they didn't appreciate my rogues cunning plans much over yelling and bashing :) |
