Let me just say that the person writing the main the tie in novel, Road to Everwinter, is an experienced Forgotten Realms novelist with talent for what jts with.

And that the job listing for D&D Head has in its description fiction (clearly novel fiction), along side series and movies.

Already gotcha covered. Check out Traveler's Boon in the Magic Shop. It takes care of solid and liquid bodily waste. There is also an improved version that takes care of several people in the area of effect.

It does seem like some of the first bits of minor magic an adventuring spellcaster would learn would be those concerning body wastes -- particularly the cleanup of such. And maybe not for others, but certainly for themselves. I know if I had a "toilet paper" or "bidet" cantrip, I'd be quick to use it. (Of course, the latter might be fun to use on some unexpecting and fully-clothed person! )

Pfft mage hand has you covered. Or after taco Tuesday you can use one of Bigbys.

The points suggested here in the thread are quite interesting, and it's probably a multifactorial issue. Personally, I don't really believe that our current addiction to social media/technology is the leading cause (tabletop games would also be threatened, probably?). Much of it is due to political and financial choices of the company, as we have already discussed in other scrolls. Something similar happened with pathfinder. From what I understand, Paizo thought it best to end subscriptions to pathfinder tales due to problems with distribution logistics.

This is nothing new to many here, but fantasy literature genre is still alive and kicking. It ranks as top 8 in Amazon.
