I'm heading into "town" (St Johns, the capital of my fair province) on Friday and I'm looking to buy a new novel. Therein lies the problem. I can't decide on what to get. I'm stuck between getting the first few books in the Counselors and Kings trilogy, Magehound and the Floodgate, but I was also considering The Black Bouquet and maybe one of the Erevis Cale novels. So I'm in quite the bind. I decided to to ask you guys what I should go for. I love both Elaine and Richard Lee Byers and I'd hate to have to choose...any opinions??

You can always do what I do when I finally get around to hitting the bookstore. Pick up every FR paperback you haven't read yet. I find that when I'm really dead set on a particular purchase ahead of time, it's never in stock.

Well. I love Mr. Byers' writing, too, I really do, but I found The Black Bouquet to be... not my cup of tea. Somehow, I could never find it in my heart to care about any of the characters or the storyline (although the monk's an intriguing character). They seem oddly lifeless to me. So, for what my opinion's worth, I'd lean more toward buying Magehound and Floodgate.

Of course, the best way to do it is to buy everything. ;)

Dear Gods Above!!! Maybe I am a bad man!!! My gravest apoligies PDK!!!

But seriously though, it was never my intention to make anyone choose. I was just looking for opinions on any must-read books, not just the few I mentioned. And I thank ye all, for the opinions I did get.My best bet is to probably wait until I'm in there to choose.

Maskanodel -

If you can't decide, skip them all and buy Canadian. Get "The Yellow Silk"!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Seriously, you've got a hard choice because all three options (Counselors and Kings, Erevis Cale, and The Black Bouquet) are good. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them.
