I have a few questions about this series if you don't mind :)

1)From what I understand the war of the Spider Queen series leaves off when the drow army heads home from Mithril Hall. Is this true? I hope so because I just finished Siege of Darkness and I'm very inrigued about what's going to happen in Menzoberranzan.

2)Is Jarlaxle a major character in the series? He's quickly becoming my favorite character in all the realms.

3)Is the series any good? How does the new author compare to Mr. Salvatore?

4) When would be the best time(chronologically) to read this series? I just bought the Paths of Darkness series...should I read the spider queen series before or after this? Or is the story pretty much seperate?

Thank you :)

Not from what I remember, no. Some years later, actually.

He's got a few things of his own to deal with, as you'll find out when reading Paths of Darkness.

Yes, it is quite good.

I'd say after Paths of Darkness, although the stories are separate.

No problem.

Oh, and don't mention whether you started off with Homeland or the Crystal Shard unless you want this to turn in one huge argument...

The series is very good and I am enjoying it more than I did any book by the author you mentioned.

No Jarlaxle. However, you do get a wonderful collection of new characters, some of them have been in articles within Dragon magazine. If you get a chance to skim through the magazines, it might give you an idea of how much you'd enjoy the series.

The series is not related to the Salvatore drow novels featuring Drizzt. However, some characters from Menzoberranzan are featured. This is an entirely new series not linked to the Paths of Darkness etc. and in my opinion, to date all the authors in this series have done an absolutely amazing job, quality writing and keeping the flavor and feel of each of the characters has been perfect, that must be a pretty difficult task to do.

VERY highly recommended.

Let us not forget......Gromph Baenre, Archwizard of Menzoberrenzan is a key figure in the story...let alone the presence of cameos and key places in the work from his siblings.......

My latest Realms-based short story, about a bard, a paladin of Lathander and the letter of the law, Debts Repaid. It takes place before the "shattering" and gives the bard Arion a last gasp before he plunges into the present.http://candlekeep.com/campaign/logs/log-debts.htm

I'm halfway though the first book, Dissolution, and I marvel at how consistant the novel is with the previous RAS novels! A drow wizard at some point mentions something along the lines of "...ever since House Baenre lost to a rabble of dwarves..." and many other tie-ins with previous drow literature! I love it!

Huzzah for Rich Lee Byers! I can't wait to read the other ones in the series!
