I was wondering if anyone has ever made a futuristic campaign... Something like "Marines are in an accident and are sent to the realm. Even though they have advance weaponry, they don't know what is in store for themselves in this new world." Or something like that. I have noticed the "Futuristic Weaponry" and was wondering if anyone has ever had a campaign where PC's had such weapons, and if so, what type of classes did the PC's use? I was also wondering if there was a tome out there that had such information, such a what a character... like a marine... would posses, such as feats, weapons, special abilities etc. etc.

Well you could use d20 Modern or the like and just combine it with your FR game. Ed has sent the Knights to Earth once or twice, or so the Hooded One has said. However the problem with Earth weapons is that they don't work in FR. Electronic's, gunpowder, etc, doesn't work within Realmspace, which is why they have magical smokepowder. |
For some of us, books are as important as almost anything else on earth. What a miracle it is that out of these small, flat, rigid squares of paper unfolds world after world, worlds that sing to you, comfort and quiet and excite you... Books are full of the things that you don't get in real life - wonderful, lyrical language, for instance, right off the bat. - Anne Lamott, Bird by Bird

Salabasha, I suggest you look into the Expedition to the Barrier Peaks module for 1e. It brings powered armor and laser swords into your campaign, and with a little modification, just about any other kind of 'futuristic technology' that you can think of.

1e huh? Do you think they are purchasable? Don't suppose you have a link to a site that just happens to have the whole book, with all the info in it, on it? |

Unfortunately I know of no 'legal' site that contains such information, and it is difficult to find I know. The Sage's copy is the only one I know of around here. Still there are auction sites, and 1e retailers online that offer 1e gaming products for sale. You could also try Ebay, or something like that.
Alternatively, you could just wait until August for the release of d20 Future. It's a supplement for the d20 Modern game.

Another interesting suggestion (and, a little easier to find) are the Alternity Sci-Fi roleplaying game accessories. They offer a lot of material that can be converted into D&D stats for your campaigns. There's also a great amount of fan-created material (which the Sage makes regular use of in his Star*Drive campaigns) at the Alternity.net site.

That's an idea that's popped up in fantasy more than once... I've been fiddling with a story idea that takes that basic plot, and puts a couple of spins on it... |

Ehh... Sorry, but that's another one I prefer to keep mum about. Suffice it to say that I drew some ideas together from various sources, including a Dean Koontz novel and some Shadowrun stuff.
However, I will toss out a similar NPC concept I've been fiddling with: Brother Boreas, a Space Marine who gets caught in a warp storm and winds up in the Realms, and eventually becomes a cleric of either Tempus or Torm... |

The unfortunate thing is that this doesn't usually come off as original. Which is why I usually prefer crossover fantasies that don't try to "advance" things. Of course, that doesn't hold as true for alternate history, as evidenced by the fact that the 1632 series is threatening to take Honor Harrington's palace as my favorite series. |

I'm reading my way through Flint's 1632 series as well, along with the Honor Harrington books. I've even started looking into some of Eric Flint's works also, mainly from his contributive efforts with the 1632 books.
Wooly, regarding Brother Boreas's exposure to a Warp storm - this wouldn't be the same Warp of WH40K legend would it?. Also, there aren't any Chaos Space Marines involved in your story are there?.

Nah, this one's not for a story. I doubt GW would care to share a book with WotC.
But yeah, Brother Boreas (named after one of the winds in Greek mythology) is a Space Marine who was in the WH40K warp, got caught in a warp storm, and wound up tossed into the Realms.
The original idea was for it to be a Spelljammer tie-in. Boreas and some other Marines were checking out a drifting space hulk, which was then caught in a warp storm and tossed into the path of the PC's spelljammer. By the time the PCs land, all but two of the Marines are dead. One is Boreas, and the name of the other escapes me.
It wasn't the forces of Chaos on this hulk -- it was tyranid genestealers.
So the PCs have to rescue the two Marines, and somehow make sure that the 'stealers aren't a threat to anyone...
Once this is done, they head elsewhere. Uh oh... It seems that second Space Marine was infected by a genestealer, which planted an egg in him. Anyone seen the original Alien movie?
After all is said and done, they drop Boreas off somewhere in the Realms. Boreas is kinda lost, since he's in an totally unfamiliar environment, the gods here seem to be real, and no one has heard of the Imperium or of the Emporer!
Eventually he has some crisis of faith, and turns to a Realmsian deity. Torm or Tempus would be the most appropriate, and it'd most likely be Torm.
Now, considering just how much a Space Marine has been modified, this guy is huge, powerful, can take a lot more punishment than even a high-level character, and is gonna be in action for a long, long time. Boreas, if he survives, is likely to rise pretty high in the heirarchy of the church.
Anyway, being that all of this involves some cross-universe stuff and the two universe in question will likely never officially meet, then that means I've not a chance of publishing this idea. So it is free for anyone to use, if they like. |

I'm impressed with the way you've brought vastly different settings together Wooly. Especially with elements like Space Marines, and Spelljammer.
Nice inclusion of the Tyranids as well . . .
