I'm having a few technical problems with this site, and I'm not sure if this is the best forum to post in, but I thought I would give it a shot.
Mainly I am having a problem with logging in; any time I click on a fellow scribe to see their information, I get a message that says I must be logged in to do so. I have had no problems posting, so maybe there is a problem with contacting members?
On an unrelated note, I was wondering if there was some way to sign up for email notification when subscribed forums have new replies. I find I like it so much here that I can't keep up with the different threads I'm trying to follow!
If the moderators could help me out with these minor glitches, I would be most obliged.

Well met, fourthmensch
Are you entering your member name and password every time you post?
We have restrictions on viewing member information unless you are logged on, which may be your problem there.
On the other issue, we will soon be allowing subscriptions to specific posts which will indeed let you know when new entries appear within. (This should be very useful to the Forgotten Realms authors and designers we have in the library at the moment). |

Thanks for the prompt reply, O learned Sage. :)
Yes, I am entering my name and password every time I post. But when I try to access member information (including moderators, even your august self), it says I must be logged in and gives me no chance to do so. This occurs even right after I post a reply (and logon in the process).
Any suggestions? |

When you enter your username and password to post, you actually aren't logged in; the information is solely used for the single post. As such, you can't see member profiles. Log in using the panel in the upper-right hand corner of the screen to view members' information. |

Quite right, Arivia, thank ye. Let me know, fourthmensch, if you have any further problems. |

I guess I might as well ask a question about the boards... Is there any way to change the user time zone? For example, right now (for me) it's 11:09 a.m. It'd make it a lot easier to pick out the new posts if, when I looked, they were listed in my own time zone... |

Unfortunately not, Wooly Rupert. However, if you use the Active Topics feature, then you're sure to find any new scrolls and pennings since your last visit |

Ah, I see. In that case, the problem is that the site seems to automatically log me out when I change forums--and of course, after logging in it redirects me to the big board with all the forums. As soon as I choose one, I am logged out again.
I have also tried logging in and then pressing the back button before it can redirect me, but that also does not seem to work.
My my, I'm turning out to be quite a difficult customer :) |

Well met, fourthmensch
Are you using Norton Internet Security? This has been known to cause redirection problems due to the software preventing the passing of a server variable. (This also causes problems when registering on the forum for some users).
However, I will be putting my Gondish skills to use to hopefully rectify the problem |

Ah, thanks for the help Alaundo (and Arivia). It turns out that Zone Alarm was the culprit. Durn newfangled firewalls... not nearly as handy as a wall of fire. What I wouldn't give for one of those when my computer acts up. |

Indeed, fire has always been the bane of Candlekeep, fourthmensch 'tis fortunate that wards are in place against the naked flame |
