My players plan to attack the elven court.
First who do you think could help the poor drows who are there.
And then who could be interested to take it back?

There might be a demon and many ghaznets who wants the court down
but maybe it want to use drows for misdirection of their attack.
Who would dare to go there and attack drows and an other powerful foe, maybe other elves or a fighter of some power wants to find something or a mage, who knows and leads an army there and maybe kills the leader demon but drows kill him or her
the army mage or fighter brought retreats and the war concerns only the drows defending there and the elves want to have there and greedy eyes of powerful leeches:)).
It is very simple, but maybe gave you an idea
don't forget elminister too.

I think the Srinshee would come to the aid of the elves also. also. Not to mention a circle of high mages would be in on the attack. Waterdeep forces with there hippogriff riders would probably aid them.

For the drow I wouldnt be suprised if they summoned balors, spider monsters, pit fiends and enlisted help from beholders or whatnot that sort of stuff.

In any battle, the mightiest weapon is one that strikes unseen.

A Warrior or Wizard may be invincible in open battle, with their foes before them, but even they must sleep sometime, and cannot parry the knife that comes from behind.

Umm With both Balors and Pit Fiends there... there wouldn't be much of an Island left... let alone any living primes...

There have been some occassions in the past where both the Githzerai, and the Drow have worked alongside one another in order to carry out some secret goal. Trust between the two groups however, has always been a significant obstacle that prevents the two races from forming any mutally exclusive, long term alliance.

It's not commonly known that some Drow Houses have significant numbers of half-illithids in their service, mainly acting as slave laborers, and bodyguards. However, the psionic potential of such creatures, as well as their less than average-intelligence could work well in allowing the Drow to create several small core units to use as shock troops against the elves. Also the fact that they work best in pairs, could even allow the Drow to put small paired groups in areas of the Court where they could do the most to disrupt any early efforts the elves put together in order to respond the Drow incursion, thus hindering the elves, and allowing the Drow to move at a much great pace.

with all my reading and the like I totally forgot the githzerai were in FR, I might want to keep all the extra minis of them now. In our campaign, we walked into the middle of a battle between the drow and githzerai. Me being an elf ran right in along side of the gith. and the paladin of torm pc in my group pulled me out (no good goody 2 shoe)

My mini list: http://maxminis.com/hwlist.asp?user=Cha0tic%20g0od

Have a large group of Eillistrae worshippers help those drow... That would make for some cool moral dilemma for your players!

Perhaps more help can be given if you share with us why they plan to attack?
