This is a kind request that we move discussion of the War of the Spider Queen to its own thread. Thank you!

Fair enough, Hawkins. Apologies if we got a bit off-topic there.
I'm currently about four-fifths of the way through 'Depths of Madness', btw. It is very very good.
EDIT: Just finished 'Depths of Madness' and... erm, wow! That was an intense ride. There are quite a few things I want to say about this, but this isn't the place. Needless to say, I heartily recommend it, although I should warn you that you won't necessarily understand it all straight away. Nevertheless, Erik' prose is good enough to carry you along with it anyway. Very good stuff.
I'll go and get some sleep now... |

Finished: "The Veiled Dragon" - an interesting read overall. Has a major focus on some Shou which is nice - if you like that part of the FR setting and if you like Ruha (from "The Parched Sea") then I recommend it to you.
"Silver Shadows" - superb read in my opinion and highly recommended. Good development and focus on Arilyn's character (a little bit on Danilo) and Green(?) Elves.
"Cormyr: A Novel" - a great read also and highly recommended. I particularly liked the paired chapters (one covering modern events, the next a historical event). My preference was for the historical past events - very interesting Cormyr lore. The only dissapointment I had with the novel was it seemed to end abruptly - it had a great plot build up and then a relatively sudden ending - did anyone else feel that reading it?
Now reading: "Passage to Dawn". |

| Started reading City of Ravens and tried to stop and start Blackstaff Tower, but as good as it starts I find myself compelled to finish reading about Jack and his exploits, a reallly fun read! |

Yes, it's excellent. I'd be interested in hearing what you think, Hawkins. (In the appropriate forum, of course. )

I've only read about 50 Novels so far, so I am somewhat behind.
I am about to remedy a longstanding abscence in my "have read" list; the first Moonshae book turned up in the post today. |

Finished City of Ravens, I think it is my Favorite by Rich Baker now.
Read first 9 chapters of Blackstaff Tower, so far it's very good. |

I'm so far behind, I've resisted trying to catch up until now. Now that I know there won't be more than 2 or 3 additional titles yet to be released that I have the slightest interest in, it's a good time to get caught up.
More specifically, the only ones I've read since the Drizzt prequel trilogy (Homeland, Exile, Sojourn) are: - The Cormyr Trilogy (Cormyr: A Novel; Beyond the High Road; Death of the Dragon) - The Elminster Series (yes, all of them; some of us actually *like* the Old Sage) and I think that's it. Yes, I've read the Moonshae trilogy and the Icewind Dale trilogy; if there's anybody here who remembers the Old Gray Box and hasn't, I'd be very surprised. I've even read the Avatar trilogy, as much as I think it set a bad standard for the Realms as a game setting, particularly since it helped to lead us to where we are now.
I have a fairly major novels-related question, but I'll post it in a new thread. |
Playing in the Realms since the Old Grey Box (1987)... and *still* having fun with material published before 2008, despite the NDA'd lore.
If it's comparable in power with non-magical abilities, it's not magic. |

Is there any link between Mistshore and Blackstaff Tower ? (time, events, characters ?) I mean : could I read Mistshore first without any comprehension problem ?
Yes you can easily read those two in any order! In fact I think it may be best to read Mistshore first, but I don't want to say why until you read mistshore!

They really are excellent. I myself, put them off for qiute a while because of their covers. They were unlike any other FR novel I had read and resembled the Dragonlance Taladas books which had zero interest for me. So long story short I judged a book by its cover and almost missed a great series! |

They're a decent read if you're eager to learn more about Taladas. But I've also found that those DRAGONLANCE fans who focus specifically on Ansalon, didn't much care for the books. |

I didn't know there was a trilogy on Taladas. I bailed on the Dragginglance books long ago, but I did like the Time of the Dragon boxed set. It was actually one of the first boxed sets I got. |
