You mean the new Eberron novel. ;) That's in my to-read pile as well.
I'm going to read Viper's Kiss after I'm done with Eragon (don't ask).

I actually just finished "Temple Hill" and found it a decent FR novel which was true to the sources, had good characters and could feature the Cult of the Dragon without having a dracolich turn up and lay waste to everything. I appreciated the restraint. Nice job by Drew Karpshyn and I'd recommend that he get another tilt in the FR saddle - perhaps with a bit more ambition this time.

I'll second George's comments. "Temple Hill" was an enjoyable read. I particularly enjoyed the -alternate points of view- in the novel. The author would describe a scene from the view of the main characters, and then replay the scene from the point of view of the antagonists. Not all throughout the novel of course, but during a few key encounters. Different and fun. |

I loved Temple Hill--low-key, realistic protagonists, a gnome character that the book actually takes seriously, no obligatory romance, and a fitting ending.
By the way, George, Drew K. also wrote the Baldur's Gate: Throne of Bhaal novelization (actually pretty good), but I agree that it'd be great to see this author write another Realms novel. |

I have about 70% of the novels. I just finished reading the book V in the WotSQ series and am anxiously awaiting the the finale!
One of my goals is to eventually read all the novels, I think I might accomplish that when around the age I retire. |

I possess well say 50% of the books: The Baldur Gate trilogy(3) The Cleric Quintet(5 books) The Return of The Archwizards trilogy(4) The Threat from the Sea trilogy(4) The first two of the Year of Rogue Dragons Trilogy Two books on the Lost Empires-The library of Cormanthyr and The Nether scroll The Pool of Raidance: Ruins of Myth Drannor The Shadow of the Avatar trilogy(3) The avatar trilogy(2 currently) the Glass prison Tymora's luck two of the Path of Darkness-sea of swords and the spine of the world Elfsong Stormlight Silverfall Finder's Bane The first two of the Hunter's Blade Trilogy
But what lacked is the lack of chronological sequence in the series of the FR |

Unfortunately for me, my bookstore isn't very up to date nor does it have any 'classics'. All I got now is a few novels and the latest is the Forsaken House, which I bought from my friend. |

Is the Internet an option for purchasing tomes? I hope you enjoy The Forsaken House. Be sure to share your thoughts about the novel in the thread devoted to it once you have finished reading it. |

Thought there was a reason for you not using it, but wanted to ask just in case. I'm very lucky to be able to order online. If I had to wait for local bookstores to get Realms novels......

You mean you're reading an actual Realms book? You rebel you!
I look forward to reading your thoughts about the novel.
I'm just finishing up Extinction and am debating whether or not to read Annihilation as well before getting the final WOTSQ novel. |

I guess I'm lucky. The bookstores around me always get the FR novels as soon as they come out.
Where in the U.S. do you live that these books are not readily available? |

Less than one hour away from one of the most major cities in the nation. It's not the location, it's the stores and the type of books being sought. If I wanted Oprah's latest offering, I could get that in all shapes and sizes along with a Large Decaff/Caff/Mocha/Latte/Expresso/with Whipped Cream and cherry on top.
But, if I want books from a roleplaying game.......<watches tumble weed blow by> |

I'm lucky there. Barnes & Noble provides me with my novels, and my FLGS is just a couple miles away from there. |

If your local B&N gets them the same date they are available online, I'd love for them to pass on the secret to my local B&N store. On average, my B&N store gets FR novels 2-3 weeks after online vendors have them available. |

I have all the FR novels but lately I've been waiting till the whole trilogy comes out before reading them. :) So they sit in my stack for a year or longer. |

Mine seems kinda slow, too, at least when it comes to WotC books. Other books I can readily find on their street date. |

Exactly, so when it comes to WOTC books, I don't know if it's the distributor, publisher, or what. |

I actually considered doing that myself.
Since there's always some time between DL and FR novel releases, it could allow me to read entire storylines while awaiting the release of novels in th other novel line.

It's not patience really. It's more of well crap, I got at least 20 novels to read here, that keep growing weekly, so I'll read the ones that aren't trilogies until the other two come out. :)
And as Sage said, between the dlance and FR novels they pretty much take care of themselves. I got to the bookstore weekly, which is probably why I'm 20 novels away from 1,000 books. :) |

Er no? I'm not in a book club. :) I just visit the book store weekly and my stack never seems to go away. |

My local Barnes and Noble and Walden Books both get the wizards novels as soon as they come out. I guess I'm lucky.
As for buying books... I buy all realms novels as they come out in paperback but reading is going much slower than buying right now because of grad school garbage (writing a thesis ) |

Let me correct my previous statement...I buy FR books as they come out on paperback. I have this thing about all of my books looking symmetrical on my bookshelf so I don't buy hardcover FR books. And, I am waiting for the whole series to come out before I read any of them.
The only books I have in hard cover are Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time (yes, all of them $$$) and Martin's Song of Ice and Fire. I buy the first one hardcover and my Obsessive behavior kicks in and I have to buy the rest in the same format. |

For me, it's not as much symmetry as it is cost. Plus, it's easier for me to hold a paperback as I sit and eat.
I'm waiting for the entire WotSQ series to make paperback before I read them... Truly, I've not been all that interested in it (what I've heard just hasn't grabbed me much, and I don't care for the multiple author aspect of it), so the waiting has been easy.
I've got a few odd books in hardcover, but not a lot. I think the Harry Potter books will be the only bunch I don't get in paperback. |
