OK so she's playing the Azer and some practical concerns have come up. Can you hide when your head is on fire? I'm thinking a -8 penalty to hide during daylight hours (any better ideas) as the glare of the sun and so on makes it somewhat easier to hide, but what about during the night? Impossible? a -20 penalty? Is there a rule? Was thinking that pulling up your fire-proof hood might reduce penalties by half to -4 in daylight and perhaps the -8 at night? Obviously a darkness spell or something would be helpful. Anyone have any fresh ideas on ROLE-playing problems? I figure they cant read normal books without possibly igniting them, what innkeeper is gonna want a fire-headed dwarf sleeping in their inn and possibly burning down the house? Dwarves (I think) would enjoy having such an exotic dwarf-kin around and have little worry with their sturdy stone-underground lairs. As an outsider the Azer don't need to eat or sleep, so sleeping isn't really a problem but everything they might WANT to eat is going to be charred. Anyway, any thoughts and ideas would be helpful. Head sheds light as a torch. Do they extinguish underwater or simply bubble the water around them?

well looking at the creature itself,
it uses a spear ( handle made of wood ), so i wouldnt worry too much, about buring everything it touches, maybe run it as its burns when the Azer wishes it to burn.
also how about it can change the colour of its flame, so at night he can burn black, therefore it woudlnt give away his hiding.
or run i as he can control the flames and turn them off.
but he always smells of smoke and fire. which to balance out the effects of the hiding maybe she would be easier to find with scent.
i would say about the water they continue to burn, or back to the control and she turns them off. again to balane this out, if she turns them off she loses her immunity to fire.

| You'd rarely find an Azer who's not living on the Plane of Fire. They build all of their homes and tools from iron, brass and steel so setting them alight would probably not occur to them. I'd say a fireproof veil would be the way to go. If she could get her hands on some red dragon hide for example (though that'd cost 3,800gp) or salamander hide (which would probably be relatively common on the Plane of Fire and therefore cheaper - maybe 100gp or thereabouts). |

| 2e's Planescape has them worshiping Zaaman Rul, the Prince of Good Fire Creatures. |
Doggedly converting 3e back to what D&D should be... Sigh... And now 4e as well. |
