Other than Halaster, is there anyone else that can live forever without divine intervention or lichdom? What about draconic beings? I think there are some pretty powerful dragons that have been around for a long, long time. |

You may want to check out the 'Wyrms of the North' on the FR website. There's one or two dragons detailed in those articles who could qualify as having been around for a very long time...

Sage, but they are all like rotting away. Lol. They don't have the means to last forever unless they go to the Cult of the Dragons and become a dracolich. |

DHD_101, "Chosen of Ellistrae" is just the term used for a priestess of Ellistrae. It doesn't refer to a Chosen like those of Mystra, or any other normal(if that term can even be applied) Chosen of a diety. |

Sourcemaster, how would you know? It is said that she is a Chosen, which I would assume to be like any of the other chosens of Mystra or like Fzoul, who is a Chosen of Bane. A priestess is and a chosen is a big, big difference. |

I never really thought about it, but since you asked...
I believe that wizards are able to slow down the process of ageing by decreasing the level of destructive energies in their body. Since mages/wizard are more attuned to magical energy than a peasant they can actually control the level of energy damaging their body causing cellular destruction. Also interplanar travel could also contribute to their longer lives. As we know the measurement of time in different planes of existence are varied. For example, a mage transports themself to a plane where time runs slower and stays there for long periods during the mages lifetime, then when you add them all up the mages lifespan has increased so to speak. |

In several novels featuring priestesses of Ellistrae, they are all referred to as Ellistrae's Chosen, the Chosen of Ellistrae, ect. Off hand, the Starlight and Shadows trilogy at least shows this, and I believe Silverfall, too. |

Lina, I believe you are talking about the relativity of time. However, I don't know if there are actually any planes that is like that though...

Yes, there are probably planes like that, just probably they are outside the FR setting though. |

They only plane that comes to mind which would encompass all that you are talking about here is the 'Temporal Prime' (at least in 2e) plane, or as it is presented in MotP 3e, the 'Temporal Energy Plane'.

I have a question about ways of living forever. Are there any items or artifacts in FR that could make a person immortal? I'm not sure but I think the Ring of Winter and the Crown of Horns make the wearer immortal... |

Yes, the Ring of Winter does. The Crown of Horns turns you into a lich under the control of what's left of Myrkul. |

Oh, now you be careful with those items . There's a lot that can go wrong, especially with the 'Crown of Horns' that can make a PC less (in terms of being) than he was before he starting wearing the Crown. In my opinion, the limited advantages (what few there are) you gaining from using these items does not outweigh the negative effects a character 'will' be subjected to.
If your PC wants to live forever, try the Astral Plane...

Time has everything to do with ageing. If time was to stop then we'd all live forever. There are planes that exist in a different time spans. Take for example Drizzt's cat, Gwenhwyvar. In the Legacy of the Drow there are countless passages that mention that after being mortally wounded, Gwen goes back to the Astral Plane for about a week then comes back to the physical realm fully recovered. But Gwen being magical does mean that she heals faster when back home. But it was mentioned that Regis was taken by Gwen to the Astral plane when he was near death and was saved. I don't know all the details there so I'll get back to you on that later. |

The Astral Plane is Timeless, meaning that age, hunger, thirst, poison effects, and natural healing do not function there. The MotP 3e, as well as the 3.5 DMG has the details on the Astral Plane, and it's associated traits and effects upon PCs and the like.
Those effects I mentioned above will only start affecting the character once he/she has left the Astral Plane, and has either returned to the Material Plane, or another plane that does not have a 'Timeless' trait.

Actually Sage, we cannot believe that You forgot to mention our favorite Plane from the timeless mentions. The Far Realms of course. They are seen as beyond time... ( whether that is truely timeless depends...) But as Lina put it (and as much as we hate to agree) Tis not aging that kills but cellular degradation... Thus if cells are frevented from degrading one could live for a verylong time... although we have heard of a crown (discarded by old Suazz Tam) that allow one to live forever for it keeps the heart beating eternally... of course... Suazz Tam was already a lich by this time so.... |

I was playing it 'SAFE' in terms of what other scribes know of the planes. A number of sourcebooks (outside WotC products) do not make mention of the chaotic realm we know as the Far Realm, so I thought it would be best to just mentioned the one plane that everybody would be familiar with when it comes to the 'Timeless' trait.

We never pictured you as one to play it 'SAFE' when it comes to the planes... Tsk, Tsk, Tsk. Where is the Sage That I so Idolized as he threw caution to the wind and talked on NON-REALMS things in the very presence of Alaundo... (Note to the Scibes: While that Masters of Realms lore may be immune somewhat to Alaundo's wrath, only temporarily... we lowly scribes are not. Never Tempt Alaundo, that should only be done by trained professionals.) Back onto track though. Besides, We've (and I do mean WE) posted enough on the Far Realms to allow some to get the just of it. One need only search... "Knock and the door shall be opened Unto you".... |

Indeed, I think he plans too... It would make some sense... of Course US, in our great wisdom have created the Protection from Moderator Spell.. true it only has a 5% chance of success, and 80% of spell failure and the need for much pleading, begging and unbashful grovelling and snivelling, we feel any protection is better than none...althoug not by much.... We do not recommend annoying Alaundo as it would preven even half of said topic: Living.... and forget Ever-Living.. See a rather simple spell now so see if it worked... we hold our breath till we pass out |
