Okay... first off... this post could probably be put BOTH under the novels section and comp. game products... so i put it here but..
I've recently confused myself when it comes to the daughters of Azoun IV... does he have two or three? The novels, if i recall right, only ever refer to two... Alusair and Tanalasta
BUT.. if you read through the journal book for the comp game Curse of Azure Bonds (and play it... and play Pools of Darkness i believe) there is also a Nacacia, whom ran away from the royal family with a gond cleric... and having just read "Crusade" it mentioned that Alusair had fallen in love with a Cleric of Gond...

Is Nacacia a nickname of Alusair or a middle name or something?

I know that the games aren't supposed to have that big of an impact on the realms... but I can't get myself to believe that the creators and that TSR, Ed Greenwood, and whomever else would have allowed this possibly horrible mistake...

Tana and Alusiar are Azouns only children as far as i know, i would be willing to be that it was just a game thing.

Both girls are his official children, but Azoun probably has a score of illegitimate childrenas well.

Spoiler!!
Don't read the small print below if you're still reading the Cormyr trilogy.

Hmm.. yeah he could have illigitimate children... but why would the journal book of Curse of the Azure Bonds (Game) say that Nacacia ran away from the Royal family. That'd make it seem she was a royal family member... not just an illigit child...
BUT... the info it gave on her in the journal book sounds somewhat similar to what was said about Alusair in Crusade (Book 3 of the Empires Trilogy... about the tuigan invasion) both are said to have been with a cleric of Gond... though Nacacia was said to have run off with one... and Alusair was said to have gotten tired of royal life and politics. and AFTER she ran off she met a Cleric of Gond in Tilverton, i think, and fell in love...

but oh well... I just finished the Empires Trilogy and then looked through the Journal to CotAB to try and help someone with something for the older comp. games, and i read over the little insert about nacacia and Cormyr... and got confused :P but ah well..

I may be wrong but I beleive that Alusair and Nacacia are the same person. In "Beyond the High Road" I think it was mentioned that Alusair ran off with a cleric who was killed by an adventurer who was trying to bring the Princess back to Suzail. Again I could be wronge but I'm pretty sure that I read that somewhere.

Nacacia is Alusair's middle name . It's mentioned in Heroes Lorebook under Azoun's entry .

The Steel Princess is mentioned a few times, in the Cormyr Saga, with her complete name... Alusair Nacacia Obarskyr.

And if you look up in Champions of Valor, you will notice a character background called "bastard of Azoun," which should give you a pretty good indication of how active His Highness was at . . . er . . . spreading good will among the citizens.

Umm.. Just about every description of Azoun that I've ever read (and I haven't read that terribly many mind you) emphasizes the fact that he was a randy old goat that pretty much nailed anything even remotely female.. Definitely got the impression he was the Cptn Kirk of Faerun and was attempting to single-handedly repopulate his entire country.. Given how every 5 days a war seems to start up in Faerun in which entire armies are casually decimated out of hand, it was probably a proper and kingly duty for him to do so.. Not really sure how his daughter is going to manage the same feat..

Puritan , http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puritan

"Small beings can have small wisdom," the dragon said. "And small wise beings are better than small fools. Listen: Wisdom is caring for afterwards."
"Caring for afterwards ...? Ker repeated this without understanding.
"After action, afterwards," the dragon said. "Choose the afterwards first, then the action. Fools choose action first."

In the Realms campaign I play in ... apparently they got the two daughters confused once ... and left them "switched" for the past 10 years or so. Having only been with the group for a couple of years, it still gives me a headache.

Seconded--I believe Ed Greenwood has mentioned before that Azoun has over a hundred children born out of wedlock (and within Cormyr, this is seen as a way of strengthening the Realm, not the opposite).

That's about right.

From October '04 of Ed's replies -

"However, there are more than a hundred bastard sons and daughters of Azoun IV, and most noble families have at least one - - so they all offset each other by their very wealth of numbers. And yes, Vangey and all of the senior War Wizards (not just Laspeera and Caladnei) know very well who and where ALL of Azoun's bastards are. Not to mention those of Bhereu, Thomdor, Rhigaerd II, and so on and so forth. :}"

In addition to all of that Ed also hinted at this in the book Elminster's Daughter about how many daughters both Azoun, and Elminster have throught out the realms, ironically the old mage doesn't seem to keep track of his daughters as well as Vangey does of Azoun's. but i must say i wish to learn more about Vangey's child.

Y'know, Azoun's prolific sexuality leads me to a startling conclusion...

The War Wizards of Cormyr are leading the charge for research concerning the treatment and remediation of venereal diseases.

C'mon, Azoun IV makes Henry VIII of England look like a light-weight and Henry died of syphyllus.
