When Ed's new "Eye on the Realms" column debuts in Dungeon #172 (Nov. 2009) next week, it will have been just a bit over three decades since what I believe was the first published Realmslore appeared: the game stats for the Curst in the Dragon's Bestiary feature of Dragon #30 (Oct. 1979).
Thank you so much for the Realms, Ed. Keep on keeping on!
Cheers,
Christopher

Ed, without the Realms, I wouldn't have the "home away from home" that I've today. Each and every time I pick up something Realms-related, I'm thinking of you, and your remarkable ability for creation that gave us all this wonderfully fantastical world of wonder and whimsy.
Congratulations on your 30th anniversary of the 'published Realms' Ed. And here's to the next thirty years.

Wow, without you Ed, I would not have found a rich world of fantastic possibilities full of intriguing people to lose myself in for hours and hours (probably totals days now) of my life. |

What can I possibly say? D&D is by far my favorite hobby. I don't just like it, I need it (the real world is too boring). But, If I had to play D&D NOT in the realms, I'd find another hobby. Ed is simply great, with a skill for creation without limit, and he never ceases to amaze me. Thank you Ed, for fueling my day-dreaming, that I love so much (though my boss doesn't). |

Thank you for opening your playground to the rest of us! (Now if I can just get THO to ride the see-saw with me... ) |
I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

Ed, thanks for creating the Realms, and, especially, for letting go of it, and for letting all of us enter the sandbox, and work with your creation. The Realms are the groundwork without which I probably could not have created the stories and adventures that I have created and continue to create for my players.
Never mind another 30, let's do 300! |

Wow.. where to begin. Mr.Greenwood. You have my sincere respect and heartfelt envy for the imagination and insight that must be your whimsical and marvelous mind. I started playing D&D (the old red and blue book) in 1988. Played that for a few years before i got my hands on some realms novels, and shortly thereafter got the old grey boxed set. That makes it almost 20 years of playing and reading about the Realms. What can i say.. i couldnt dream of playing in another setting. Keep on feeding us these amazing fantasy stories for the next 30 years too! You've enriched my, and my group of gaming friends' lives for almost 20 years now, and your stories have been a part of my life for so many years now. I cant wait to have kids on my own and retell the stories to them! Skål!

Brimstone SALUTES Mr. Greenwood. |
"These things also I have observed: that knowledge of our world is to be nurtured like a precious flower, for it is the most precious thing we have. Wherefore guard the word written and heed words unwritten and set them down ere they fade . . . Learn then, well, the arts of reading, writing, and listening true, and they will lead you to the greatest art of all: understanding." Alaundo of Candlekeep |

Aye, though my exposure has been short, the Realms have always been a magical place to me, and carry nothing but great memories.
A great many thanks are in order, all of them heartfelt. |

HELLo!
Mr. Greenwood, I can only mirror the people above me. Whom I'm all in complete agreement with. Thank you, and congratulations!
Happy playin'! |

Yep. What Kilvan said, except that my need is more specific to the Realms rather than D&D; our Friday night game session this weekend was cancelled due to the DM having an all-day SCA event the next day, and I spent my evening immersed in existing Realmslore and carving out my own, and I had just as much fun. In many ways, I'm thankful now for the Spellplague and 4E, as it motivated me to put much more of my own creative energies into this wonderful world. |
Playing in the Realms since the Old Grey Box (1987)... and *still* having fun with material published before 2008, despite the NDA'd lore.
If it's comparable in power with non-magical abilities, it's not magic. |

Each moment that goes by is one we can none of us never take back.
When it comes to your creations, whether they're presented in sourcebooks, Dragon articles, novels, forum responses to Candlekeep, Loremaster, Realms-L and so on, every moment I spend focused on these things you've created is a moment I never look back on with regret.
So thank you so much for sharing your time with us. It's appreciated man.
Rock on Ed. Rock on. |

A little late to chime in, so there is little for me to add here that others have not said better.
Thank you for years and years of pleasure, inspiration and entertainment. Its been great and I hope to see much more in the years ahead. |
